The new propane tank gets buried in the backyard. Norm advises an apprentice in composite decking. Jeff and Tommy add final touches to the coffered ceiling. A shelving system goes into the new office. Outside Mark applies a stone veneer to the new chimney.

Kevin O'Connor opens the show in the new basement, formally the garage, where the homeowners want to make a modest home gym and use the rest for utilities and storage.
A new furnace is already in place. Upstairs the finish woodworking has started, and in the living area there are two new sets of slider doors that lead out to what will soon be a deck.
In the backyard, a trench has been dug for a new pipeline. Richard Trethewey is with propane supplier Peter Sherman who has brought a 1,000-gallon steel propane tank that will be buried. The tank is filled 85% with liquid and the rest is vapor. It has to stay under constant pressure to maintain a steady flow of vapor into the house. Even though it's not required for this particular project, Richard demonstrates how in-ground tanks in high water table locations need to be anchored down.
Norm Abram shows apprentice Kathryn the durable composite decking that will be used for the new deck. They begin with setting the perimeter boards, and then they start to work on the field pieces using the special slots to space each board and screw it down to the joists.
Inside, Kevin finds Tom Silva and Jeff Sweenor working on the coffered ceiling. Mineral wool was put above for sound dampening, then 1x6 inch v-groove poplar was nailed into the field. Now they're building the crown molding in a picture frame on the table and lifting it up to be installed in one unit to create a coffered ceiling in a grid pattern.
Down the hall the old bedrooms have been converted to a laundry room, playroom and home office. Courtney Cavanagh is a local designer who worked with Scott and Shayla on creating cabinets and book storage in the office. Courtney shows Kevin the design on the computer and they look at the system of partitions and shelves being installed.
Outside Mark McCullough is at the new chimney with Buck Sharpe. The gas fireplace vent has been boxed in with plywood and covered with a weather barrier and cement board. Now Buck is using an architectural stone veneer that's lightweight and easy to cut. He applies it to look like dry-stacked stone.

I had a house that had a cinder block chimney with a rock facing. After a number of years it developed a leak with winds coming from one direction. New roof and flashing was installed but it was later determined it was coming in from the mortar between the stone. It was fixed by spraying the chimney with clear sealant but I was told it would have to be done again every 2-3 years. I like the look but personally not worth the headache.

So much to comment on here... The tank part seemed common-sense and well thought out - enjoyed that, especially the discussion about the anodes and the anti-float considerations. Thank you! Not sure why that second course of decking got face-screwed instead of using the same 'biscuit-style' joinery used in the rest of the field. Just use a standard biscuit jointer to cut the slots in the skirt board. More time? Nope...driving and plugging those long screws takes more time! And it results in a cleaning field. That ceiling has more nails holes and poorly mechanically set nailers dinging up the trim - so much fill work work. Glad it will all be painted! Thermo-something-pretending-it's scientific...it's MELAMINE covered FALL-APART-ICLE-BOARD !!! And I bet they are paying a premium for it! I have no idea what was going on with the brick piece..."It's a dry stack look, no joint over joints"...commences to show multiples joint over joints and even sets one himself! And if the spacing is 'dry-stacked' there is a lot of vacant space between those joints - are they going to fill them or just rely on that thinset and the concrete board to keep it watertight? And...why three days to finish that little stone veneer project??? Maybe a small syringe to fill out those "dry stacked" joints ??? Again...more questions than answers on this one (though this is becoming a normal thing!).
@augustreil

Very good comments. I don't like that there's no mortar between the joints either. Seems like a giant sponge to me ? I would've had him do the joints and then soak it with the best sealer known to man ! Jmo.

Especially after Tommy did a segment of Ask This Old House which is right here on KZbin where he fixes an uneven floor for a homeowner. Why on this project did they let that go? Kevin just says"oh we see that alot" and blows it off like it's nothing and it could indicate a serious problem either with the supports holding the floor up or the foundation of the house.

The boiling point of all materials depends on pressure. At atmospheric pressure water boils at 100 Celsius and 212 Fahrenheit, but at 20 atmospheres pressure it is liquid at 2000 Celsius and can be used to move heat from a thermonuclear pile to a turbine boiler.

Before we can reseed though we have a million little rocks to pick up first. I am using a metal rake to rake a pach of land, sift it, put the dirt back and put the rocks on a stone wall.
