Reminds me of all the projects I used to help my Dad do growing up, especially the hunting cabin we built in PA. The only difference was I never got acknowledged for all the work I did. My Dad was the type that you knew the thanks was implied. You're a good father and keep up the good work.

Been enjoying your series. Not to be critical, and I know this is too late to help you - but maybe to help others. I would have paneled the end walls first. That would have made it easier to fit tight joints where the sidewall meet the end walls. You did a good job of fitting, it just would have been quicker/easier. Also, it seems that most, if not all, of the insulation bays would have help 6" bats. That would been a huge improvement over the R13. Thanks again, look forward to seeing more adventures!

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I think (hard to remember at this point) that my thoughts on doing the end wall last was that I could pulls sections down to run new wires to the panel if necessary, and I would have to work around chimney pipes on an eventual wood stove. Didn't ever expect to pull the ceiling down. But really it would have been six/one half dozen because things in there are so wonky. As to the insulation, it is a small space really, and we were trying to do everything on a super tight budget. Lowe's had a sale on R13. It will be enough insulation that even a small wood stove will probably run us out of there.

In earlier "This Old Q-Hut"video clips. You mentioned having to rearranging everything all the time. Just to work on the framing. Did you consider renting/buying a shipping container? A 10 or 20ft long could have stored all that you weren't using for the build. Thus opening up your floor space.

Brenda, that would be the way to go if we were doing the whole shop straight through. For us it is a matter of budgeting for the project (cash) and knowing that working on it will happen in fits and starts. We actually haven't had time to work on it since January, which would mean a lot of stuff in a storage unit that whole time. Hoping to finish the project this fall/winter. Our plan is to finish it just as we've done the back half. Time is our biggest challenge. The homestead demands our attention elsewhere in the spring, but once some of those projects are behind us, we plan to turn energies back to finishing up the shop. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Central NC, in the piedmont. Thanks for the feedback. As to your question, do you mean, could you build a metal quonset hut and do what we are doing AS a home? Sure, I don't see why not. Big difference might be using sheetrock instead of OSB (plywood) on the inside. God bless!
