@bankspower, why doesnt it work for non CAN vehicles that are OBD II equipped that have functional sensors from factory (ie; GM vehicles) I'd love to use these banks gauges but have to use the aeroforce gauges because you guys don't support it the way they do.

It's safe to say this will probably be one of the last SN-95's in existence with that kind of maintenance. Don't waste brainpower recording, just snap a few pictures and spend your time being happy.

Hello again Repair Geek First, Congratulations on getting married 👏 From your earlier comment that your new wife made the suggestion. Not that I am an expert, I only have thirty one years of married experience LOL. She sounds like a Keeper. Do remember to enjoy the time together ❤️ Make a lot of memories!!!!!

I would highly recommend taking the 101 and 1 up North along the California coast, instead of going inland along the 5 to get to Monterrey. Either way im sure you will have a blast! Congrats!

First time seeing your content. After watching several videos I am subscribing. Keep up the good work. A couple suggestions if you are open to them on your upcoming trip, I have been over many of the Western states repeatedly. Congrats on your upcoming marriage. 1. For sure take the 1 down California coast at least part way. Tons of places to see along it. One big suggestion is Hearst Castle. One of the best surprise stops when I went through California. If you appreciate looking through a large old castle stuffed full of all the antiques a tycoon in the early 20th century could loot out of Europe, then its a can't miss. 2. Your stretch from Grand Canyon into Texas is not the best way unless you are in a hurry. I would go south after the Grand Canyon and hit White Sands and Carlsbad Canyon, or go North and see Antelope Canyon, Mesa Verde, and drive from Silverton up the Million Dollar Highway to Ouray, to Montrose and back down through Creed on 189 you can head over to Raton NM and back down to Amarillo. Just a couple ideas that you might want to look into, depending on what you want to see and how much time you have. There really is too much stuff spread out over a great distance to see it all in one go. You just have to pick whats most important.

Agree on Hearst castle. I was there when I was a kid. We will probably stop there as well. She's never been there.

hey, looks like you are coming thru Dallas. If you have time stop for a few minutes at the longhorn statues downtown ... 20+ life size longhorn statues and a lone cattleman on a horse. Great photo op, not far from where JFK got shot. HMU if you hit a problem around Dallas. Good info on the I-dash, im going to look into it for the coolant temp display. congrats!

I have a 2001 GT vert and have actually found my SCT X4 tuner can give me all the same live data as well, and can be mounted to the windshield! It came in handy when I put the OEM gauge faces back in my car to set the needles correctly.

I can attest to the iDash and it’s power. Recently towing my boat on my diesel zr2, the coolant temp needle didn’t seem to move much but the iDash showed it went up from 178 (the usual) to 196 while towing. From looking at the needle you could never had guessed that. It wasn’t anything of concern but it’s good to know your vehicles normal operating temps in different situations. Now I now my trans will be in the 205-210 range, engine oil in the 220 range, and engine coolant in the high 190’s while towing in 90 degree weather. If I ever see anything very different, then I’ll be concerned.
@RepairGeek
@RepairGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Watch your stock coolant temp gauge when the truck is warming up. The stock gauge will move off 160 and the coolant temp is actually something ilke 120.

Hello, I have a coyote swap with a F150 Gen 3 and 10R80. Onto a New Edge 01 Mustang. Do you think this will work just with the OBD plug alone? And give temperature readings for transmission fluid, oil and coolant ? Or do I need to install temperature sensors individually for all fluids like you did on this video? Also does this read Tach signal? Thanks
@RepairGeek
@RepairGeek Жыл бұрын
If the control pack has CAN (Control Area Network) communication it should work I think. I would think either the Ford Racing control pack or the stock 18+ F150 computer are all CAN communication. You could always call Banks to 100% verify. So if your controller is CAN it will work fine and read everything off your data stream. If your controller isn't CAN you'll need the sensors. The stock processor is so old that it isn't CAN which is why I needed the sensor modules.

I know you can't see everything, and it's possible you've already visited some of these places, so don't plan to revisit on this trip, but I very highly recommend visiting the (several) National Parks in Utah, which are close to your planned route. You could loop back through Vegas on the way back east and head north. Denver and the Rocky Mountain National Park are also excellent. I'd probably cut down on the time in Texas and California. California, especially, is better suited to taking a week and a plane ticket and exploring a couple of cities in depth, rather than trying to do all at once.

As much as I like to see you post new content, I'd say no video during the honeymoon with the possible exception of the track day. Enjoy your time away with your new wife... You can catch up on YT content when you get back!

@@RepairGeek Well... if you haven't already, discuss with your fiance... that could help with the decision. Don't want to start off a marriage with an annoyed wife! You could just video whatever you want for yourselves, not worrying over whether it would make good YT content, and then when you get back and review the footage -- if you see anything that would make for good content for this or a separate channel then edit it together and post... If you don't get anything usable out of it, then that's cool too. I guess (having been married for a few years now) I'm just advising not to spend too much focus on producing content for the channel when you're supposed to be on your honeymoon which should focus on your new marriage. At the end of the day though, you'll need to do what's best for you and your brand new bride, so let that be your guide and you won't go wrong.

Wouldn’t it have been better to install AeroForce gauges that plug into the OBD port and show you live data log information?
@RepairGeek

That would work as well. That unit doesn't have the expandability though. I'm currently monitoring 5 things that the stock PCM has no sensors for. AeroForce only has 2 additional inputs.

Cute little gauge, but 98% of American drivers won't have a clue about what it's telling them !! The Rickie Racers of the country may find some use for it but I know from experience that they are usually occupied with watching scenery and the parking lot jockey in front of them to bother with gauges!!

You won't find oil pressure (it always reads 100), oil temperature, transmission temperature, or differential temperature in there. The only useful data in the cluster diagnostic screen for my situation would be ECT.
