You want to think we could have "fixed" him.

I read or heard somewhere, that after seeing and hearing Chester perform that song for the first time, Mike (rapper, other singer) stayed by Chester's side all night just to make sure he was going to be okay. Mike said he'd never felt that much emotion coming through, and it scared him. I just wish someone could've found the right healing that Chester needed. He definitely had a one of a kind voice. Knox Hill. During the line 'I hyperventilate', he actually forces his body to shiver as he sings, which adds that almost staccato effect in the words that you mentioned. He's using an "inside-out" technique, where he uses his body functions to build the effect

I have been listening for Linkin Park for so long, always knowing that each song was more than "just a song", hoping that Chester would make it. That he would find what he needed. What he deserved. While also understanding. Understanding inner demons and what they do to you. How hard it is to hear the world when those inner demons are screaming in your head. Taking all the focus. Being in that fog. Not seeing the things that exists outside of the fog. And the people who care about you not being able to reach you inside that fog.

This is why Knox is the best at these videos man, he’s reacting to this song and breaking down the meaning of it too. This version of Chester’s screaming is very important because many bands, such as Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice & Men, Sleeping With Sirens, We Came As Romans, Motionless in White and Beartooth either use this same style of scream in their music, or were very influenced by it. These videos wouldn’t do too well, but if you wanna hear some amazing rhyme schemes, great song writing and lyrical structure, these songs by Linkin Park are top tier in that department: Esaul (Xero Demo) Hands Held High Dedicated (1999 Demo) Husky (Hit The Floor Demo) Dialate (Xero Demo) Kenji by Fort Minor (not an LP song but written and produced by Mike Shinoda, and when Jay Z heard the beat, he absolutely loved it)

My eyes and ears were there every single f'kn time Knox. EVERY single time since 2002 (age 18-19) in the Central Florida area. Chester was my God. I still to this day have a VERY hard time listening to LP because of it. They were my life and Chester was the center of that for me. I have a ton of old school pics of them from the front row. I was never not in the front row (not kidding). But yeah, July 20th, 2017 and I still can't listen because it hurts THAT BAD. I could barely get through this. I'm the age now, as when Chester left us: 41. I'll never forget where I was when I found out. The last show of theirs I went to I screamed, "I love you Chester," and he said back, "I love you too" in the mic. I'll forever be grateful for that moment. I have been to a _lot_ of live shows - LP remains one of my top two- the combination of the energy (probably the most positive energy and crowd I've ever seen- everyone was so dang nice and friendly- so little attitude) of the crowd and the energy of the band was just amazing - I am absolutely heartbroken that I'll never be able to see them again like that- like Ren LP (specifically Chester) just gets what it's like living with the bullcrap in your head and the music is where I go to hide where I feel like someone understands. Chester made the comment several times in interviews that the inside of his head was a bad neighborhood where you shouldn't go alone and I resonate with that - I just take the music with me (Ren, LP, Disturbed)
