Great video brother, and great modifications to it! I had the Les Stroud knife as well. I loved it but gave it to a good friend. My nephew has this one. A pretty decent knife.

Looks like a cool knife to me. I don't ever worry about what others think about the knives I collect. Some I collect just because I like the way they look and others because of the blade steel or even the maker. Just collect your own way. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

I totally agree. It did bother me (though it shouldn't) to speak down of a Buck knife. Not so much because there could be a negative reaction. More-so because I want companies to live up to their reputations. If you earned it, keep proving it. Don't rest on it. Plus, i have to be fare. Sometimes a bad one just slips through the cracks. But I was down over the experience, and I think that came through in my voice. Have a great day, Stan!

I've had both the BG and Les Stroud knife in my hands at the same time and I prefer the LS over the BG, if I had to pick one. However, both are only what I'd now consider to be "beginner" wilderness knives and in all fairness, they're not terrible for the money. 👍 I completely agree with your point here, though--well said. 🙏 Take care and Cheers!

I agree. Both would be good intro knives. I had both at the same time. I liked the design of the LS, however, it wasn't holding up as well to hard use for me. That sucked because I wanted Les' knife to do better. Take care!

Todd, been enjoying your channel since I found it. Nice looking Gerber, but I wouldn’t have much use for it as I’m not much of an outdoorsman (my idea of “roughing it” is Black&White TV). Have been learning a lot about blade steel lately. But, although I have Buck & Case knives, I still find myself turning to the el-cheapo “Great Star” China knives sold at our USA “Walmart” stores, as they hold an edge surprisingly well. So, I agree with you about the “budget” knives.

Well, thank you very much, Mike! Haha! B&W tv is definitely a far cry from the high definition we have today. Still, some of the old b&w tv shows are still great entertainment. That's a great thing about knives. They come in many sizes and styles to suit the needs of people with various needs and interests. A good knife is a good knife, regardless of who makes it and what it costs. If its the knife that suits your needs and is reliable, it's an awesome knife. I appreciate your support. Have a great weekend!

I had the first production on that knife and used for a few years and was a great solid worker. Never understood what all the hate was about.

I think the hate was more to Bear then the knife. I have the first production as well, with the serrated edge. As I remember, they has steel issues and a few cases where the hammer butt broke off. I keep it in a winter emergency car kit. When I replace a knife as a main carry, they usually migrate down to a kit of some kind. Thanks for having a look! Have a great weekend.

Just checked on a couple of websites. I see a serrated and non-serrated version, in a couple of different colors. Seem to average $125. Has a good look to it. Yeah, I look as some Case knives that are more then double the US price. A $10 Rough Ryder often pushed $30 up here. Raining here so I may do a Bass Pro trip. That should make for a good day 😁. I hope you have a great weekend. Be well.

I remember a time not long ago when blade steel didn’t matter to me at all. I pay more attention to it now because I want quality for my dollar, but I’m not really beating my knives to the point that it matters. I would gladly buy that knife, like I told you before, I started collecting gas station knives and I still love them. Our options here in Canada are extremely limited like you said, we buy what works. I still haven’t heard about my Rosecraft Skinner, Which is another reason I agree with you, I hate ordering online, it’s one big pain in my ass. Especially when I don’t receive my product, you saw what they did to my Rough Ryder Lockback. It’s a crap shoot, and it’s a lot of money wasted if there’s a problem. I wish we had the options our American friends have, I feel Ill when I hear how much they’re paying for knives. Personally I would grab that Knife in a heartbeat, any knife is better than no knife! I’ll keep ya posted on my Rosecraft.😡😂🤣

I was the same. I'm no steel expert, but I've learned enough to know what should survive what I intend for the knife. I'll tell anyone, a basic Mora is one of the best bangs for your buck. Money is definitely a thing though. I don.t see any Buck 110s or 112s at yard sales or in pawn shops but, I do see a ton of Chinese clones. That tells you what people could afford. Hopefully the Rosecraft pops up soon. I would imagine you would get some kind of notice if it was seized. There is likely a legal requirement, whereas mail is protected under the law. I put in an order from Hero Outdoors. Hasn't shipped yet, so we'll see how that goes. DO keep me posted. Like they say, the knife you need is the knife you have. Have a great night!

I don’t know much about it but I think it looks really cool!!! I don’t believe in starter knives. If it works it works! My opinion isn’t really popular and that’s OK. I love American made steel!🇺🇸 But if it works and I have confidence in it, I don’t care if it’s made on the moon! Great video buddy!!
