Talking about the downfall of Manchester United and not mentioning the Glazers, is radical
@AbangYusufКүн бұрын
Yeah... In the past. Manager must bring their ideas to the club. But nowadays clubs must have their own ideas and bring manager and player that suit to their identity.

I think the importance of David Gill is overlooked as he left at the same time as fergie and behind the scenes ran the club

Manchester United didn't win the FA Cup under O'Farrell in 1972, that was Leeds. O'Farrell took Leicester to the FA Cup final in 1969 (losing to Man City). You've missed out Docherty winning the FA Cup with United in 77.

When you’re at the top you can’t relinquish your strangle hold for a minute. Whilst City were recruiting players like Yaya, Silva and Aguero United were signing Valencia, Owen, Jones. Fergie’s control over the English league lured the Glazer’s into a false sense of security. The one signing that had the most detrimental effect on the football club in the decade following Fergie’s departure was RVP (stick with me). Fergie told the board, “sign that kid and I’ll regain the title from City.” He did and the Glazers wrongly believed the Prem was that simple… cue Woodward and the conveyor belt of 30+ year old striker mega signings.
@worldview28882 күн бұрын
I am completely struck by this comment. I really love RVP because he is beyond machine and beast to be TOP scorer for two seasons (before MC robbed us on the very final minute - but still props and salutations to them.)

United bottled the league, you weeent robbed. I bet you once said You’ll Never Win Anything. Suffer in your jocks
@Pad132 күн бұрын
Why are you completely struck by the comment? I love RVP. Best finisher I’ve ever seen, better than RVN in my opinion. He helped us win a title, that as a squad we probably didn’t deserve. That City team was levels above that united team. However, something can be good and bad all at the same time. Did that one league cost us a couple post Fergie? We will never know but I firmly believe Fergie’s wizardry and that signing lured the Glazers into a false sense of security. For a decade we splashed cash at past their prime, short sighted striker signings… completely neglecting the midfield, which is where games are won and lost.

@@Pad13They spent big money on Di maria, Schwensteiger, Sanchez, Sancho, Antony, Casemiro, Martinez, Pogba, Onana, Lukaku, Mount among others that I can't recall as I'm not a Utd fan, so this doesn't show that they had a false sense of security.
@Pad13Күн бұрын
Until Ten Hag, the only central midfielders they spent on was Herrera, Pogba (who’s more attacking) and Schneidein. Schweinsteiger was over the hill and we payed peanuts. Di Maria, Sanchez, Lukaku, Ronaldo, Zlatan etc are all big money attacking signings that were done to paper over the cracks that had developed within the rest of the squad.

I agree that Ferguson arranged his goodbye present better than leaving the club in a good state, but too be fair both Rooney and Van Persie declining that fast was not to be expected.

Fighting over the horse caused Man United's downfall in long term...what a butterfly effect
@joekavanagh71712 күн бұрын
Rubbish. Ferguson was not responsible for the Glazers. Magnier and McManus were rubbish owners anyway.
@joekavanagh71712 күн бұрын
The main people to blame are the fans. They fought against a Sky takeover and then meekly supported the Glazers by attending matches and buying club merchandise, instead of boycotting the club, which is the only thing that would have got the Glazers out.
@tohellorbarbados49022 күн бұрын
And why do you imagine that Sky ownership would have been a good result?

Worth mentioning that Ron Atkinson's FA cup wins came at a time when the FA cup was THE prize to win. League champions were rightly acknowledged as the best team, but lifting the FA cup was the glory moment of the season.

If it's one mistake, does it need a 7-min video?
@nilemailКүн бұрын
The mistake is called Rock of Gibraltar. The horse spunk dispute between Fergie & the then owners led to the sale to the Glazers. Debt & decline was inevitable, temporarily held back by Fergie's genius, but he himself caused it.

Just blame the Glazers and end the video. It's all their fault that we are here in this situation. Series of bad decision making has led us to this. Hopefully we can see some change with the Jim Ratcliffe at the helm now. It's not that fergie never wanted a young squad but he never got the players he wanted. Aguero, Lewandowski, Drogba, Ronaldinho, Gareth Bale, Sneijder, Neuer, Hazard, Varane. These are just some of the players that he missed out on. There would be a very long list if we are going to make a list.

Even during post fergie era, the glazers kept making horrible decision. There was a recent interview with solksjaer. He said he wanted haaland and they should just buy the release clause (which was only 20million$). But ofc glazers nvr bother
@kelvinkj70742 күн бұрын
The blame actually lies with the fans. They should have supported the manager for at least 3 to 4 years without complain. It takes time to build a team. Short term thinking is never a good thing.
