awesome video (as usual)!!! If possible, pretty please, can you do a video on two-handed backhand speed-up volleys? I struggle getting the angle of the paddleface right - especially if the ball is somewhere between waist and shoulder. Either I hit into the net or it goes too high :) ....

Love your vids. One critique…when Caden is demonstrating hitting the ball to the middle and then up the line, because the ball is not inside his left knee (preferred), his muscle memory didn’t allow any balls to be wide on him! All of them were still at or inside his left knee 😊

The left hand of a righthander is usually clumsy and doesn't do well by itself. This will be more obvious when you try the same idea in tennis where weaknesses are more exposed.
@ryankeirns3453 ай бұрын
Keeping 2 hands on for ATPs is actually pretty effective. You can bend the ball around the post easier.

Missed out to discuss on Ben Johns' deep one hand dink, with right over left footwork, and extremely bent wrist cross-net shot! I love that shot. And if it is really too late to catch the deepest rolling ball, I dink by switching hand from right to left to save shot.

That’s a different shot lol

@BrionesPickleball you are right. Too far off from the two handed dink. But with Ben's dink can always be added to the shot selection. Or maybe good for another segment. :)

When the ball is way out wide to the left, would you ever consider dropping your right hand off the paddle and hitting it with your left hand only?

Maybe a top pro can do it and be fine, if you send a 4.5 to a mens tournament with a 2h ready position they'll come back with some new tattoos. Even of the top pros I can't think of any except Riley, who can quickly defend his body FH with the pancake grip. On the right side, Dylan does it sometimes but he's extremely disciplined about taking his hand off before his opponent makes contact, unless he's decided to slide for the twoie.

Just a quick question (and I’m not trying to pit content creators vs each other), but I saw a video from James Ignatowich on two-handed backhand dinks, he said the motion isn’t really a low to high, as a right hander you hit the outside or left side of the ball. What do you think of this?
@BrionesPickleball3 ай бұрын
It’s a low to high, hitting the outside of the ball motion.
@darinrussell3 ай бұрын
I just rewatched his advice and it is low to high (bending your knees really low) hitting the outside of the ball w/ a cupping motion ie Ben Johns w/ one hand. Thanks for your awesome videos.

@@BrionesPickleball Thank you for commenting Jordan and I'd be so grateful for your opinion on the following clarification. I can't get behind offensive dinks wide to my backhand like speedy Riley can ... but since I'm ambidextrous I started letting go with my dominant hand to reach them with a forehand. I still use my 2-hands for ready position and fast exchanges, and backhand topspin dinks when I don't need to move much, but when I need extra reach I leverage my unique advantage. [I was a lefty junior tennis player ... but hit, shot, and swung righty in baseball, hockey, and golf]. In 2024, I tested to see if I could develop an ATP whip forehand in tennis with either hand, and since I can now do so equally, I'm now leveraging this on 3rd shots. The work on the tennis court also seems to have re-trained me to 1) watch the ball into the paddle and 2) loosen my wrist tension.

Absolutely increased the level of aggressiveness possible in my game adding the twoey dinks and drives (especially for singles), and actually helps to conserve energy during many points. Definitely adds a nice dimension to anyone's game and most pros have added this to their arsenal!

Two handed Dink is a must. You’re able to be more aggressive, and your footwork and bending your knees to get low is super important. Also, you can’t speedup off the bounce w/ one hand so if you Dink w/ one hand and speed up w/ two hands you give it away - as soon as your opponent sees one hand they know no speedup, when they see two hands your opponent will load their counter.
