Love your videos! I’ve struggled with this in the past and I’m sure it’ll rear its head again in the future. One thing I heard in this that wasn’t really focused on was that you established your max range where you know you’re about 100% in and then chose to exceed that range, not throwing stones because I’ve definitely done that before. I know for me personally I feel like you, 15 and in even if I pluck, don’t follow through perfect or whatever else happens in my shot I still seem to get a good shot or in the vitals but outside of that, even a mere 3 yards I see a difference in my shooting in the yard, things being magnified in the woods I know that even in perfect conditions, I may not be perfect, especially picking my spot so I am sticking to that 15 and in. A couple years ago I watched a beautiful buck walk broadside at 18-20 yards, it was super hard but the Lord blessed me a couple hours later with a bigger one at 10 yards. That’s the discipline I’m working on, coupled with picking my spot like you are, maybe we’ll see results pay off this fall. Best of luck my friend, pick that spot, shoot straight and God bless

Really good video! I recently bought a 3d deer target and it’s a lot different than just shooting at a square target. My aim is in the vital area, where most of my “misses” are just a couple of inches to the right. Your video has verified my thinking that I’m not a terrible shot after all. Thanks!

I agree 100% , I have used shadow lines and focus on the shadow edge when there is one, just a thought. First part of the video we didn't know you were such a good actor.

It can be easy to become complacent when we practice with something that has a visible target zone. The way I compensate for this is the typical way of imagining a high-contrast dot in the center of my POA. This means that, whether I'm looking at a bag target or a deer, the point I'm aiming at is *always* imaginary. This way, even though my bag target has printed bullseyes, I'm still aiming at something that I'm not actually seeing with my eyes, just my imagination. In other words: sometimes I miss big, but I always aim small. Another thing I've done is what I like to call "dynamic distancing." I know I'm deadly 99% of the time from 15 yards in. At 20 yards, if my math is correct, it drops to roughly 85%, right now, but I want it at 100%. When I start slinging feather missiles for the day, I warm up at 5 yards less than my 99% distance (at this time, 15 yards, so I'm starting at 10), for ten arrows. Then I step back 10 yards, and fling ten arrows. Then I step up, and fling ten more at my 99% distance. Then I step back to double that for another ten arrows. I then repeat the pattern once, and for my "last" twenty arrows (rarely can I resist going back out later in the day 😆) I step it up to 5 yards past my 99% distance. Since I started doing this dynamic distancing thing I've seen my accuracy at 20 yards increase from 70% to 85% in a week.
