I have never played Rising Sun but Blood Rage is an amazing game. Due to quarantine I have only played it at 2 but could see how much better it would get at higher player counts.

I’d say that about most area control I think. It’s just hard design-wise to do so!

Thanks for the video and details laid out. I love and have both of these games. I need to pull them out again and play them. I also went all-in on Ankh to finish the trilogy, so it will feel good having all three. These games are timeless where I believe they will stick on my shelves always, while I would part with some others as I need to clear up shelve space. Thanks again!

I have both but have only played blood rage so far. These games are my favorite genre and I think Ankh is going to take the cake out of the three.

I watched Ankh from a far during the campaign. I couldn't make heads or tails of it comparatively during. But knowing I'm not an area control person made the FOMO pass easier than I expected

@ Its in the same ballpark as blood rage or rising sun so if you do not like those you will not like ankh.

Rising Sun looks SOOOOO Up my alley I can barely contain my glee when I look at it. Unfortunately, nobody I know wants to learn a 3+ player game on game night. We all just end up playing 2+ player games people are already familiar with or can learn easily because at least 2 people already know the rules. Leaves me very hesitant to venture back out into 3 player minimum territory again, no matter how cool Rising Sun looks. Blood Rage I have played and enjoyed even if it was only at 2.

I prefer Rising Sun because it is more tactical than Blood Rage. Both are strategic games but Blood Rage trade tactical element you could get by having specials units or powers to influence the board differently for cards combo which is not my cup of tea.

I think Blood Rage works great at 2 players (due to the quarantine got most of my games in with 2) and heard that the 5 player expansion does not really work that well 🤨 weird

4 player is definitely the optimal amount of players. 2 players is not the worst game ever, but imo takes away a lot of the game.

Understandable. 2 players in most area control games just do not feel like it gives the full experience, but if it works for you that's awesome!

I love Blood Rage! I've played it maybe 15 times with 3, 4 and 5 player counts. I prefer playing it with the base game content only even though I have a bunch of other content for it. This will probably never happen, but I would love to see a revised set of cards to draft. There are some cards I never pick because they don't bring enough value compared to other cards. Some themes for certain God's are much stronger than others. Drafting is one of my favorite game mechanics. Having to make a hard decision to take one card over another and hope other good cards fall to you. Or having to pivot to another strategy because someone let a particular card pass to you. The area control part is just a bonus to me. I have not played Rising Sun but hope to one day. I would try Ankh too. I'm not too big into Rising Sun's nor Ankh's theme though.

I did not like blood rage at all...one of the most over-hyped and underwhelming games I've played in years. It pretty much left me with no interest at all in Rising Sun or Ankh.

Blood rage was definitely not over hyped. The Kickstarter did well but it wasn't exactly a big deal. With that said it's one of my favourite games ever.

@@Syko1985 It sure seemed like a big deal as far as online reviews and BGG comments/ratings, that's what I meant by over-hyped. I'm glad you enjoy it, and I'm not necessarily saying it's a "bad" game. We had heard great things and were expecting to enjoy it...but after giving it several plays, we were all disappointed and struggling to see why people enjoyed it. But that's the beauty of board gaming...there's something for everyone's tastes.

@@michaelmueller260 To each their own. It definitely helped me first discover that as much as I absolutely love the theme on both, this type of area control is definitely not something I find myself enjoying playing nearly as much.

KS exclusives don't have as much impact as people think. For example most of the people buying Marvel United at Wal-Mart don't know about kickstarter let alone that there a lot of characters that they may never see.

@ I am still thinking about it. I mean, 1st edition with expansions is already a perfect game, not sure the 2nd edition will be any better. 1st edition will not stop being fun just because 2nd edition is out.
