Why are people so defensive about the voice? She's capable of being a great athlete, a seemingly nice person, and having a funny voice. It seems like we've been invaded by hyper-sensitive 12 year olds. One of the most elegant and natural runners I've ever seen (since 1972) and one of the funniest trackside voices. It's OK to think both things.

Well, I'm a bit old to be in my bedroom with my friends! But you misunderstand my point. Nobody is being unpleasant. She has a charming voice. It is comically high-pitched sometimes. That's not an insult. But it's noteworthy, because it's unusual. It fits with her odd habit of grinning and jumping around a lot, which is also quite appealing. My point about 12 year olds is that the commentariat seems to lack roundedness in its understanding of life. Her appeal isn't Greek perfection, it's elegance and achievement mixed with characterfulness.
