Hey Aaron, quick note that I haven’t seen many people discussing. According to serebii, HP based moves like Eruption and Water Spout, as well as Weight based moves, experience no damage increase due to Terastallizing. Hey, thank you so much for all these videos about competitive pokemon. Another wonderful video! I was so happy to see Stantler coming into that battle! I've liked him since the G/S/C days and always featured one on my main squad. It was also pretty cool to see people using Klefki and Mimikyu. I hope you'll run into more fun teams and maybe someday feature a Stantler team yourself. ;) (That's probably hoping too hard, but you never know!)

I love this team, it's so creative. I just hate how no matter how wacky your team gets, there's almost 0 chance it works unless you stack some meta Pokemon with it. For example for Orthworm to be so good you need a good EQ user, and Garchomp is simply the best choice in every situation. Same with Torkoal if you need one singular pokemon that thrives under trick room. That's just how VGC works though, teambuilding isn't about finding the best pokemon, it's about supporting the already-known best pokemon.

Man, that battery problem at the end made me a tad anxious lol Next time, taking off the Joy Cons and continuing to play with them that way should work. As long as they are clipped to the Switch, they are in handheld mode, so they don't work when the console itself is docked, but once you take them off, they work as intended. The Switch's modes are kinda weird in regards to what controllers work how and when, I noticed - that actually came into play whenever I tried evolving Malamar in SwSh (the evolution just wouldn't trigger as long as a Pro controller was active, because that overrides handheld mode) Last time you asked about favorite new moves in Gen9, I mentioned Chilling Reception because I love the concept of a bad joke causing a cold atmosphere (and thus, weather). It's a good joke about a bad joke! Still stand by that choice too. As far as moves that I actually love using so far, Ice Spinner is a simple but impactful choice. Physical Rock and Ice types were some of my least favorite mons to use because their best moves all carried an (in my opinion) unjustified small chance to miss. At least for Ice, this is now pretty much remedied, which I love. Rock still suffers from 95% syndrom, but with Rock Slide, the imperfect accuracy at least makes sense in doubles. Shed Tail is also great and gives me all kinds of ideas. From simply getting in Dondozo behind a sub to making the switch game easier for Palafin, the possibilities seem endless.

As good as Pokémon like Cetitan are in snow, it’s nice to have a reliable way to set it when you don’t want to bring two ice types to a match. It’s also nice to have it on a Pokémon (Slowking) that is immune to taunt and can threaten trick room and decent damage into things like Arcanine that really slow the snow bros down when you lead them.

So question. When I run similar teams with Torkoal, I know my opponents are suspecting the eruption and if I suspect a wide guard user, I will flamethrower instead on turn 1, then eruption turn 2. Didn’t know if that was something you thought of: that way no mind games are being played and guessing if they’ll wideguard or not
@charzzzard66532 жыл бұрын
I really like running flamethrower over heat wave on my Torkoal. If there is a wide guard user I always click flamethrower on the first turn attacking. After the first wide guatd, mind games starting. This avoids this nearly everytime because they lose their wide guard option instantly

I think this Orthworm set is pretty close to the best it can do. Orthworm is definitely a one trick pony, but that trick can be great. High special defense investment to shore up its main weakness, sitrus berry to recover from shed tail usage, the classic body press and iron defense combo, and then iron head to scare some fairies and make use of its stab. Trick room support from its team just gives it that chef's kiss.
