I don't even want to mention the developers names, but this isn't even their only "game". They've also got classics like Super Martin Race Kart, Lethal Single Horror Company, and Batmanio Dimension. Seriously though, are there literally no filters for things like this in the submission process? I'm not even talking about copyright issues, how does something that doesn't run manage to reach a state where it can be purchased by the unsuspecting public?

I'm wondering that as well- projects made with Unity have an option to build them to consoles (unlike ones made with i.e. Godot- you have to find a publisher that will port it for you), but I thought Microsoft Store does take more than a dev's promise that it will work to list the product as available for Xbox

@@SimuLord Yeah this, exactly. "Available on Xbox" doesn't really mean the console anymore. "Xbox" is an ecosystem nowadays and that includes mobile gaming as the money-maker regardless of whether things are truly cross platform.

So, XBOX takes two kinds of submission types. 1. ID: This is the proper console game, where you need to be verified, being sent a devkit. Then you need to pay MS to certify your native xbox build, goes through a rigorous checklist by xbox QA. Most of which you can read in public docs, though a some also are NDA required. This certification checklist is needed by all the Games in XBOX Windows app as well(incl. gamepass) -sidenote: Sony also have a similar checklist, but that's totally under NDA. 2. MS Store: You basically can upload anything to windows store and mark it available for xbox as well. MS Store gets less visibility and tucked in corner in XBox, but totally free to publish and it's a wild west because of that. Like steam pretty much. There are guidelines for these as well, but as submission's free you can guess they don't really spend any manpower to enforce that. I wish they made all paid apps/games need to have the certification as well. A middle ground of not needing devkits and proper QA.

I'd feel bad if this was Second Wind or some other employee-owned independent outlet. Jane and Luke get to expense this to Oxboxtra's corporate parent, and someone in my line of work in the accounting office gets to have a good laugh when they approve the expense report (with video evidence that the expense is genuine!) The moral of the story is if you're playing with other people's money, go for the gusto!

Fun fact: the "Made In Unity" banner is something you can remove in the more "professional"/higher-cost tiers of License. Any serious company pays the extra and has it removed, so you only see it in Unity Asset Flips and not stuff from major publishers, like Heartstone

This developers record is FASCINATING. I found them through randomly stumbling upon a game they made called “Batmanio Dimension !”, a 3D platformer with extremely slippery tank controls with AI images of Batman for all of the icons and images in the store. You play as a poorly rigged model of Lego Batman (as in, the model is directly ripped from one of the Lego games), and you enter Mario pipes that lead you into Mario Odyssey style 2D sections with assets directly ripped from there. And you can’t get past level 4 because one of the platforms moves too fast to keep up with (because you have to run with the platforms, instead of being carried by them like literally any other fans). The game has no pause button or menus in general besides the main menu that calls the game “Batmario Legos” and despite there being a retry and exit button, you can only press the retry button with A. All of that and this video makes me think that these were made as mobile games that were barely touched for the console port besides hitting the “Export to Xbox” button in Unity.

According to the store page PokiWorld is playable on PC, Mobile, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Hololens, and Hub. Clearly this is meant to be played on Hololens.
