I remember when I was trying to turn on a generator and the damn tornadoes camped it for like, 3 minutes. We didn't have any other objectives left to do aside from that and the main one, which we needed to generator to do either, so we just had to sit there and get swarmed

Here’s how I imagine it was coded. Select a random position from valid playable areas, and then move to the new random location. However, playable areas are drawn as a circle around the players. So by statistics, it’s vastly more likely to move towards the player as a result.

@@lixiaochen6 I might have peeked into the files a couple times. They follow the same mechanics as patrol spawns, but once they're near players, they either draw a curve or a straight line and move in that direction until they're away from the player, if the firenados alert is still active, it will then attempt a second pass.

The eruptor is a sniper. If you’re using it close enough for you to get hit, you’re using it wrong and the devs should take thay mindset. If you’re dying from shrapnel, it’s a player error.

That's what I was saying for quite some time ive not had a issue with the shrapnel because i used the sniper as a sniper and rarely used it cqc only in panic situations and i suffered because of it but I got told off by the toxic don't tell me how to play my game players when I mentioned that because how dare you say I shouldn't use a weapon a way it wasn't intended

I thought the problem was the ricochet of the shrapnel not working as intended and one-shotting the player and anyone around them. Sounds like a good reason to temporarily disable shrapnel to me.

Tornados absolutely followed. The first time I ever played on a planet with one solo, at the extraction there were 6 tornados on me.

They also were attracted to objective items like terminals and pickups so you would see 3-4 tornadoes prowling around the objectives like sharks/graboids.

I vote for the invisible randomness beeing the worst game aspect Things like a charger hitting you twice or trice during the same charge Things like a single automaton bullet come out the fog, staggering you and making you miss a Quasar shot. Things like the jump pack malfunctioning for a multitude of possible reasons, and leaving you in a death cage Things like a supply beacon not lighting up where you cast it, so it pick another spot at random and it hits one of your sentries Things like ragdolling downhill for 20 seconds Things like ending up stuck in terrain

​@@Scarletraven87 charger hitting you multiple times makes sense depending on where you're ragdolled. Automatons blind fire in your direction of they can't see you. Supply beacon and other strategies bounce off of rocks and stuff. It's not random

The SEAF change is only logical and i never understood why it wasnt like that to begin with. It is an artilery emplacement ON the planet which you manually loaded with shells , super destroyer or not, in low orbit, it should not affect that bad boy at all ! Glad to see they actually made it so its more realistically used now!

The logic was(theorically) that you synced up the artillery control with your S.D. acting as a control relay. A good idea in theory, but definitely not fun in practice.

Stratagem jammers on planets with artillery are now basically free objectives. Oh you jammed me? Catch this H.E. round. Will be interested to see which shells can destroy it.

The orbital gatling i think now may be one of the best stratagems, it was very good before against hordes of small enemies and now it can even destroy bigger targets

​@@lukemehalick370if it went from 30 rounds to 60, and the upgrade gave it +8, then the upgrade should now give it +16. I always thought it was usable but not necessarily amazing. I can't wait to see if it's amazing now. Sure, airburst is good but it serves a slightly different purpose.

Not gonna lie... This update looks REALLY good for playability and fun factor AND for community strategy. Edit: I think this is an excellent first major step for winning back the crowd and keeping helldivers to going for a while.

I say "win back the crowd" because there are a lot of complaints about balance and wanting certain weapons to be stronger, which are often not unreasonable complaints. The complaints of many that the assault rifle weapons did not feel good to play, among others. There is also the issue that many players are sour because of the Sony incident. Players also have legitimate complaints about fire tornadoes chasing them around and certain planetary modifiers being un-fun. Therefore there is a part of the fan base that Arrowhead would want to win back, because that would bring more players in and make at least some of the player base that was angry more happy. And a happy player base says good things about the game, which attracts more players. TL:DR: You are the person who needs to grow up and touch grass. Ask me what I mean instead of forming an opinion about me and trying to beat me up for you having that opinion about me.

Definitely need some more buffs to some weapons, mainly the liberator penetrator, but this is definitely s step in the right direction. Definitely excited to hop back in and try out these changes though

For me we were only able to load four rounds and it wouldnt allow a 5th so couldn't even activate it

23:24 "Relaxed disconnection policy for PC users." This will likely massively decrease the amount of disconnects we get. Instead of getting disconnected due to your connection (or the host's connection) not responding for a fraction of a second, it will (from the sound of it) try to reconnect you a few times... which will likely fix the majority of disconnects that you might experience.

Pummeler didn’t need to be nerfed. The fact that it stunned heavy enemies was the only thing it had going for it, it took 50-75% of a mag to kill an enemy. If they were going to do this then it needed a damage buff

Nah fam i run pummeler and ballistic sheld and i could ez pz 2 tap faceplate shot devastatorz. Also only about 1/4 to half mag on the back of a hulk. And it still stuns large enemies just not as often. Still a great gun fam defo would still use 🤙

Being able to stun heavies is a nice bonus. The stun is most useful on bugs against Hunters and Stalkers. That is the number 1 reason why I take the Pummeler. Stunlocking Chargers and Hulks is definitely very funny but not the main reason why I take the weapon.

Heres an easy fix to modifiers limiting experimentation, add positive modifiers. "ammunition surplus" We ordered too much orbital ordnance ammunition (its coming out of YOUR paycheck) so cooldowns have been reduced for all orbital strikes "Engineer internship" we have a new wave of middle schoolers joining the super destroyer for this mission which means they will get to see their science fair projects in action, sentries cooldown reduced "Annual Eagle maintenance" the targeting and radar systems of the Eagle one have been removed for recalibration during this mission which means theres more room for explosives. All Eagle one call ins have 1 more use per rearm

An interesting idea, though I think it might limit variety since they have better balance now. If there's a modifier making orbitals have less cool down, then everyone is just going to choose orbitals. I like the guy in the video's idea, where instead the modifiers can add more of a certain enemy type

Nah, just make an environmental modifier and a negative modifier that requires the completion of an objective to remove. That way it gives an immediate jump in difficulty at the start, then becomes easier as you reach extract

All i wanted from the percison strike was a much faster cooldown OR an immidiate call in time, but i guess both is also pretty nice even though both of them are only half of what my expectations where. I mean a mathmatition will tell you that adds up to 100% satisfaction!

Grenade launcher buff is crazy. Pairing it with stuns against bugs, mainly chargers, 5 shots to the butt takes it out. Combo that w resupply pack and youre set

On higher difficulties, there should be nests for all of the different bugs. Like a charger nest on 4 and up, a bile titan nest on 5 and up, etc, and taking them on should be like a boss fight itself.

This only works on lower difficulties. The quickest way to 100% clear a mission is to split into teams of 2 and each team goes off and does different things in different parts of the map. 1 team can be doing main/side objectives while the other goes off closing spawns and collecting samples. A 40min mission can be done in as little as 15min, even on 7+ difficulties. I normally play with randoms and if my team always sticks together I tend to run off on my own to close spawn areas so we can finish the mission faster. If your suggestion was implemented then they'd have to severely reduce spawn areas, since you'd need your whole team to be there for the "boss fight" to close the hole, which would be a lot of time invested for that 1 objective. Additionally, in Helldive difficulty, you spend most of your time avoiding combat and only engaging for the objectives. If every spawn area was a boss fight, then you'd see most people just avoid going to the spawn areas entirely because they'd likely get trapped in a reinforcement loop and lose a lot of time. However, I'd be fine if there were 1 or 2 (like Stalkers Nest) and they were blue side objectives. However, this might still pose a problem for people doing solo/duo dives, as the boss fight would have to be toned down significantly, or not pop up at all unless you start the mission with a team of 4.

I think a mission modifier like “Charger herds” would be cool, where occasionally a patrol is like, nothing but 3-4 chargers (no reinforcement calling bugs)

Disagree with your difficulty ratings but agree in the overall. I’d love there to be a LOT more sub-objectives and on map features to play with and against. Not all of them need be negative. Even the AA -1 stratagem has its place but ALL “passives” should have on-map counterplay and when you do the associates sub objective you have a 1/3 chance for that tile so supercharge you in the opposite direction do you get LOWER cool-downs, +2 random stratagems (and/or a blue support item) for clearing AA nests, boosted radar fidelity instead of spores.

Fire tornados absolutely used to shift based on player movement. I suspected it based on my own movement, but I also watched one "chase" a teammate who was making erratic movements to avoid enemies. Plus, they'd sometimes spawn on extraction lol

they did actually nerf something dear to me, but it wasnt listed in the gun catagory, it was under enemies. The pummeler can no longer stun lock chargers. With its mediocre damage that was a huge part of why i loved it

This has been the case for two patches now, I think it's what people believed was a "damage resistance" while spitting. It appears to actually just be that the spit animation hides the head hitbox from the front so your weapons hit the body if you shoot at the mouth. The bile titans head hitbox is on the forehead and the sputting animation blocks vision to the forehead from helldiver height.

If you used the erupter for any amount of time while it had shrapnel you soon learned how to shoot it without team kills. Just needed a fix to the explosion pulling you inwards. I’m pretty salty still but tbf the rest of the patch is a huge W.

I don't think that would help much. Id rather take -50% charge up time, which would double the damage out put but make it better at clearing hordes. 1 sec charge up to kill a lowly bot never feels good. Armor pen should actually be working on it now, as well.

It has good range, but if they wanted it to be a long range weapon, it really needs a better scope. I could see it being a good chip damage weapon to help teammates, especially when it three shots bile spewers. But I’d like if it felt, beefier? With its somewhat long charge, I feel like it should definitely do more damage. At least let me one shot a warrior and maybe two shot a brood?

It did get a huge buff overall though. The ROF change is really only removing the 900 so now 750 is top ROF, but now it gets 50% more damage and more durable damage too. So essentially low ROF is dealing lots more damage while lasting for a while. And the quicker reload makes it feel less annoying.

At least 100 rounds for the HMG. 75 rounds only would assume it’s using .50 instead of 5.56 and that would mean it’s heavy armor piercing the same way the anti-material rifle is.

The seaf artillery I always found weird it stopped working when the destroyer left, I always thought it was cause the artillery communicated with the destroyer then you sent your strat request to the destroyer(?) seems a bit convoluted but eh? Makes more sense this way tho

I read the notes: basically if light armor "tender" does 95 dmg if medium armor it does 42.5.... LP does 45 for both light and medium from how I understood it...

As a machine gun main bug only player, this is so fucking poggers. I was eating good before the buff, but I tried it the minute the patch came out. Absolutely laying down the law with that damn thing now, feels good and tons of fun. It’s really elite mid armored enemies that used to soak up all your ammo but now you can just tear shit up.

Current Tenderizer was exactly what I thought it was originally going to be. Only light armor pen but has exceptionally high damage, tailored towards destroying weak spots and clearing out light infantry quickly.

Just used rocket sentry and I counted 13 shots on a bile titan before the titan got in reach and began puking on it. Then later in the match it shot about 8 shots at a charger in the rear and still didn't kill it. So still garbage.

However, it does clear medium armor enemy well enough. decent against light, splash still weak as faq. way I see it if the flies can survive 3 times of splash literally sitting next to each other, that big splash damage meant nothing. but it is a mite better than before.

The problem isn’t that the devs have the wrong mindset about the eruptor and its shrapnel. They themselves stated it, giving it that shrapnel gave it far more power than even support weapons had in ad clear and armor penetration compartment. The developers don’t have to compromise their vision about primary weapons for us to have our easy mode rifle.

I don't know why people are saying this. They removed the shrapnel probably because people were shooting it under chargers and killing them in one shot. Doubt it had anything to do with friendly fire. Else they wouldn't have added the airburst rocket like soon after.

For me the problem I had and that I think the devs might have seen happen enough was that the Eruptor killed me after they added ricochets, when firing at anything with armour and a ricochet occurred no matter the distance between me and the enemy I died (together with any other Helldiver near me) instantly while wearing heavy armor with the -50% explosion damage perk. So all the comments here that say it is a skill issue because people shot stuff right in front of them is such a moronic "I never saw any problem ergo there is no problem" thinking. Currently, some people are complaining about some ESC-press-on-ship-killing-framerate-for-them problem, well I don't have that problem without having some monster rig, so it is obvious that problem does not exist, "all those idiots that can't even properly start and play the game" smh.

Time to fire the game backup. Strategem changes look good. I still agree with you - Eruptor having shrapnel gave it uniqueness. I hope they eventually re-introduce shrapnel on it or other weapons, even if its just a disability effect instead of pure dmg. Effects are cool - "Moar Damage" is boring, anyways. A slow or bleed would be great. The ability to effect armor status would be interesting such as temporarily decreasing part durability for other weapons. Possible to do? Who knows. But I want to see shrapnel back.

I agree. I always hated the erupter. But no one can argue that it wasn't more unique with shrapnel. A lot of the comments focus on damage or armor penetration, but there are many more ways to make weapons useful and stand out.

All i wanted was Eruptor shrapnel back. Hopefully itll 1 shot bile spewers, hive guards, and Brood Commanders again, if it does that its good enough for me, maybe theyll consider shrapnel again in the future. Fire tornadoes absolutely followed players sometimes. Every time i died when a storm was happening, and got reinforced, when falling from the sky i could see that the tornadoes were only spawning in areas with players. They dont actively chase you but a lot of times they follow you to whatever general area you are currently on, and they love to spawn whenever you call an extraction.

I want the game to be harder too, but I think they can accomplish this without fiddling with spawnrates and such so much. For example, instead of fiddling with bile titans toughness so much, why not just add in a bile behemoth, that is like a giant bombardier beetle that is even tougher? Then they can leave Bile titans where they were. It must be so much more work than I am imagining to implement stuff like this. It seems like a given, to me, to do this with this game.

It is far easier to turn a few 2's into a 3's in the code lines than to model an entire new enemy, factor every single existing weapon and stratagem against this new enemy, and ensure the new enemy interacts with the multitude of environments the properly.

A friend of mine suggested that the -1 strat modifier could be brought back but as a side mission on the map. Ie: drop in with 4 strategems chosen but only 3 usable until you destroy/shut down the objective and unlock it.

As a recent dropper we can definitely feel the changes to the flamers you get a decent chance to stim now and the spear actually can fire now. We didn't even talk about the erupters sight away and put an acog on it the extra damage feels good though

I haven't installed the new patch yet, but I'm very interested to see how the Crossbow & Purifier are now. I think I'll still miss the OG Crossbow, but at least they're trying to follow up on making it a medium killer instead of a pea shooter. I hope the Purifier buff is better than it sounds, fingers crossed.

No nerfs is a little misleading. The Pummeler no longer stuns heavy enemies, the 110 Rocket Pods do much less explosive damage, and the Bile Titan head is more resistant to the Railgun. In the grand scheme, these are minimal, but changes nonetheless.

The pummeler still stunlocks chargers, the rocket pods got higher armor pen to offset that damage, needs testing, and the bile titan head was made less resistant so the railgun could damage it better.

@@thiccfila Even with the higher pen, the overall dmg has been nerfed from 300 (600/2) before the patch on high armor targets to 250. Arguably the targeting issue with the 110 mm was a bug, since it should've always worked the way it does now given the descprition.

I’m overall very happy with this patch, but imo, people are still in their right to add more suggestions. They should. This patch was very good, and there’s still more work to be done. Nothing wrong with wanting some more buffs to weapons which need love. Only the people who are complaining and being overly pedantic and dramatic are the problem imo. People like that don’t add anything of sustenance than people who genuinely want the rollercoaster to keep on climbing.

Theres a bug with the ballistic shield now where you cant get up from prone or crouch with it. Also, theres an instant kill glitch from hulk rockets that was introduced where you ragdoll like crazy and the impact kills you. Also, looks like theres less ammo in the hmg emplacement (but may just be me). Also, arc thrower still not fixed... 100 changes my ass.

I wouldn't mind all of these ups and downs with the balance, the breakings of weapons etc, if it was part of the lore. They tried to make the Breaker changes about a month ago feel like it was some kind of issue with the factories, and when they buffed fire damage across the board they said something about new armour sacrificing the fire resistant layer for more padding, but other than those two instances they haven't touched it. They could have had a bunch of fun with the eruptor. Imagine if this was the turn of events: We farm samples on these alien worlds, one of the samples is from these exploding bushes on jungle planets. RnD faffs about, makes the eruptor. A week later, it starts malfunctioning. They recall, and all new eruptors are sent out without the erupting part of it anymore. Glorified spud launchers. That's so in line with Helldivers lore that it actually sounds a fun thing to be a part of. IF IT'S presented like that. Which it wasn't. It was presented like a bunch of blind autistic monkeys parading as a chefs kitchen team fumbling everybody's orders.

I think shrapnel being tied to a specific planet would have been much better. Then if we kept that planet we could keep shrapnel

Unless they remove the ridiculous ricochet mechanic, adding shrapnel back to Eruptor would essentially be suicide.

I liked being cutoff last minute running from a horder of bugs because it adds cinematic times because i have to turn around and fight them or dive thru the flames and burn and heal

Machine gun sentry, orbital gas and gatling barrage will control bug breaches with ease pre-patch. Recoilless for armored spawns and you were golden.

Stun nade + OPS on any enemy is cracked now. It used to be OPS in front where they're gonna walk to, THEN stun when the enemy, which took some skill but could be inconsistent. Now it's just fucking awesome.

The Eruptor's ballance was it's low fire rate. You had to make sure your shots counted, or no amount of shrapnel would compensate.

Re the Tank Heat Sink checking for explosion direction: in the previous build you could destroy a Tank with the Scorcher or Purifier by shooting at the side of the turret, near the rear. The explosive damage would affect the heat sink, even though you couldn’t see it. I’m assuming the “explosion direction” check will change this, but I haven’t tested it yet.
