You mentioned wanting a laser cutter. There are issues you need to be aware of starting with what gasses come out of materials when you cut them. Maker's Muse has a few videos on that and is a good place to start. It is always a good idea to make sure any laser cutter/engraver has fume extraction WITH filter system.

Yes; Home (or local library--they out-of-ordered it bc inadequate fume handling) laser cutting can get expensive really fast. CNC routing is messier and has different problems but most people will think about and plan ahead for sawdust.

As an owner of an aventum X i need to clarify some things for the viewers. They drain the system out before shipping and include with the PC a draining kit and instructions how to drain them (all the lines coming from the tank are quick-disconnect so its actually very simple) and include 2x 1 liter bottles of the fluid you chose which is more than enough to fill the system twice over and a sqeeze bottle to help you fill it. At first it may be difficult to open the Reservoir tank but thats why they inclue the clamp

At the risk of sounding like an advertisement, I love Digital Storm! They built my first gaming PC when I was too intimidated to try building my own. Besides being impressed by their build quality, I was also very thankful to have access to their help desk when some issues popped up and I didn't know how to fix them. A DS tech got assigned to my ticket, then walked me through some troubleshooting steps over the phone until the problem was solved. That's a massive plus to someone who is new to the PC world!

I think there could be a second pump either in the basement or where the AVENTUM logo is by the CPU - I seem to remember there being a small "dome UFO" reservoir that had mounting for a D5 pump. You'd just have to tweak the fan profile so both pumps ran in sync.

I have 5 chunky 80mm thick rads in my system, no distro blocks, no QD, and my single D5 has been running like a champ for 7 years, no issues with flow rate and no need for a 2nd pump. Granted, I'm using 30 fans in a much bigger Case Labs S8 case cooling four 3080Ti's alongside a 5960X. And yes, I did it all myself fully custom - it's the kind of supreme build that not even Digital Storm would be able to do. They used to do 4xGPU builds but not any more, so mine is literally the last and greatest you will see. I have photos on LTT forum Jay if you are interested. And no, I won't be shipping it to you, but I am in LA if you want to come see it 😎

Yes you pay a bit more than you would doing it yourself and even a little more than some other SI company. But the quality is there and attention to detail is good. I have never had any issue with anything before. Got a couple friends who are on their 4/5th systems from them and they work flawless too. I had 2 Lynx case systems custom and my system now is a custom Velox case build. I would recommend them for sure. Unless you're on an absolute tight budget as they are a little upcharged.

If you have a resin printer you can get REALLY smooth and precise. That is why I went with resin is the level of detail is absurd and it can get to that level of quality. Not only that, in my opinion resin printing is easier, and anyone who complains about fumes and such simply has never worked with it. Personally the cover on my anycubic covers any fumes (if there are any and there really isn't), the resin is sticky, but basic soap can wash it off. I pretty much work without gloves and mask now and its completely harmless unless you go swimming in it.

Jay, nice system I hope it meets your expectations in the coming months. Two years ago when I built my system I seriously considered having DS build for me. However, after reading literally hundreds of complaints and fixes put out by DS. I concluded that their warranty policy was very shabby and in some cases nonexistent. One of their sales reps contacted me to ask why I backed out. After explaining why and giving him examples from his own website. He never said a word again. Now obviously they can and do build some really good systems, but once it goes out the door it is buyer beware. I wanted a company that would stand by me and help me work through any problems. Not someone I had to argue with over everything.

I bought a PC from digital storm a couple years ago and it’s been nothing but a problem since it has arrived at my house and it wasn’t just any PC it’s their flagship the Aventum X. It started out with a 12900k in it and it quit working so they put a 13900k in it and it quit working so then they recently put a 14900k in it which I had to pay the difference every time for the new CPU’s. I also had to have the GPU replaced a 4090, and the power supply. I obviously requested a refund but they said since the computer is 2 years old they can’t do anything even though it’s still under warranty. They then decided they would cover shipping to have the whole PC sent back to them for repairs and I was promised a new CPU and new motherboard but after arriving they said they wasn’t going to replace the motherboard because they couldn’t find anything wrong with it but they did replace the CPU because they said it wasn’t working….shocker….. they then tested it and stuff and said it’s running fine now and had it shipped back to me, well it arrived back to me Dec.23 2024 and after only having it a few hours it caught on fire, now I’m waiting to hear back from management

I am a super fan and have been for 4-5 yearsish. Not your oldest fan but a good fan nonetheless. I've learned everything from Jay. Alot can happen in 5 years. Lol I now build and test PC's as a hobby for customers who tell me exactly how their systems are running because I educate them before it goes out the door. /Jay., why does the pump have to be running so fast? (Honest question) If water sits in the rad longer doesn't it get cooler? Water moving too fast, can have adverse effects. Contrary to what others think, water picks up heat and puts it down at it's own set speed. It won't change outside ambient temps. It won't let go heat because you said so in a vlog. If you don't understand, I'm sorry but keep reading. A slower pump speed could actually decrease your thermals. A slower speed on the pump just might allow the liquid to do IT'S job. At least You, the owner now knows just (who that CPU) is. Then increase CPU ( aio or the f ever ). When the fluid is just flying by the rad, Logic tells me that the water can't pick up or absorb as much as it could because it's just passing by the rad. With heat you gain pressure. How does the AIO, custom build preform at those pressures. It's your build. A cooling solution or anything else that can handle what your able to give it means everything in a custom build. Let that sink in and let the water get some temp. Low temp but you have to let the CPU show it's thermal patterns. Then chill it. That's essentially what you're doing and that's a whole new ball game. Getting to know the thermals is the first thing I research before I do anything. Reduce CPU fan speed, ( pump ) and let the heat tell you what to do. ( Something I was waiting for Jay to say. ) Jay, your not a fly by night kind of channel. Put your helmet on an give us what we... need bro. I love ya so keep up the good work. Do you agree with how I explained that in your experience?

I want to see full-load(CPU+GPU) temps on the metallic piping, i mean they're metal to help absorb and push out heat from the liquid, right? How good are they at doing that, and is there a real benefit to using this over regular old PVC pipes? Would copper be even more effective? What if you had a fan pushing air over the pipes?

Your knuckles will thank you. Building in something this size (1000D myself) was wonderful and I didn't leave small parts of me inside the case.

0:01 I have the same Ikea chair and its a static nightmare. We both live in the LA area (I'm SGV) and that chair is a static nightmare . Ive had it for three years and when the humidity is low that mesh back turns into static electricity hell. Thinking of replacing It in the future. Very comfy chair and it keeps me cool but I'm sick of being electrocuted .

MicroPowerPC has very well built small form factor prebuilts that stay nice and cool even with overclocking. Their prices are also better than Digital Storm

Great build and WOW the internals resemble a Classy car of the 1970s loaded with Chrome! Of course this much metal makes this rig a heavy weight.

The reason why you get a custom build is for accountabillity. If I get a $600 gpu and drop it, it's hard to get a replacement. With a pre-bild, if it doesn't work you send it back for free repairs. Also some pre-builds are actually cheaper than the part cost.

I built my first computer back in 1997 when I was 10. You had none of the automatic detection stuff we take for granted. You had to set jumpers on the motherboard to set the CPU front side bus speed and multiplier. If you are not careful your PC goes poof when you turn it on.

I had Digital Storm build me a PC back in April of 2020. Arguably the worst time to purchase a custom build. I will say this: Yes thwir stuff is expensive but I can't complain because my PC is still a thing of beauty and their customer service is awesome. Their guys did a great job helping me determine what I needed and they were extremely easy to work with after I received the machine.
