Willie Nelson is an AMAZING song writer and singer. He has written dozens upon dozens of hit songs for himself and others. I was a rocker’s rocker but I’ve ALWAYS loved Willie Nelson! Not to mention we share a passion for Mother Nature’s green leafy goodness! BUT of course let’s not forget the legend Mr. Ray Charles. May he forever rest in peace.

These two men had the most wonderful friendship, it was so touching to watch them perform together, the chemistry was palpable. Their final performance was an evening where they sang “a Song for You” and Ray had just told Willie backstage that he didn’t have much time left. Well, Willie was quite shaken by the news, as you can imagine, and Ray sang the song to his friend of many yrs. I can barely keep my composure watching the video. You should watch it Polo, it is very touching. Peace 🇨🇦

Red headed stranger, and Angle fallen to the .ground! That is just a tiny sampling of Willie. Hope you listen to many of his songs. And just fyi for a long time Willie wrote songs for other artists. Finally after a number of years he started to sing his own songs. I'm so happy he did I'm 78 years Young and have quite a diverse taste in music, and still listening to the old stuff the new stuff that tried and true stuff and every day I get caught up in it. Where would we be without music keeps the soul young

If you see this, there is (on KZbin) a video that shows how deep the friendship was between Ray Charles and Willie Nelson was. At a live celebration in New York for Willie's 70th birthday (2003), Ray Charles, Willie, and Leon Russell sang Leon's song "A Song for You," Ray brought tears to Willie's eyes. If you search "A Song For You - Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Leon Russell," you will find the video. Whether you make your own reaction to it, or not, this is about the incredible musical connection these men had with each other (Leon Russell included).

First of all, I'm a 50 year old skate punk, and this is one of my favorite songs of all time! As far as Willie goes, Angel Flying to Close to the Ground, Always on My Mind, Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain and On the Road Again. And lastly I can't recall if you've reacted to Dolly Parton, but I will Always Love You was a song she wrote and had a hit with before Whitney sang it. She actually wrote Jolene on the same day as I will always love you and they were a few of her biggest hits!

Back in the 1970's, Flip Wilson (the first African American comic with his own prime time network variety show} did a classic routine about Columbus leaving Spain for America. When asked what he looking for, in America, he responded, "Columbus gonna find Ray Charles". That line brought the house down - and became one of Wilson's famous tag lines. For weeks every high school kid in America was quoting that line. If you are a Ray Charles fan like me, Ray Charles is worth sailing an ocean to find.

Willie Nelson was a big country artist in the 60's-- 70's, and known for being very cannabis friendly. He and the band lived in the south, and drove to regional performances in a 'Greyhound' style tour bus. One day they were stopped and searched by the police. A band member asked-- "What's your probable cause to search us?" The police said: "A tour bus with the name Willie Nelson on it." 😬
