@Pystro2 ай бұрын
The 1x1 circular plate piece really does not offer any easy way to remove it from other pieces. (Assume you put it in the middle of a 4x4.) With the 1x2 you get that straight side that the brick remover tool can apply force against. But the 1x1 has only round sides, and applying force against those technically applies the force in a single point. That said, the "ridge" that runs around it is quite thin and the "cut in" at the bottom quite thick. They could have dimensioned those like they are on tiles. After all, the 1x1 circular tile is exactly the same - minus the stud on the top that you can grip against. And LEGO isn't worried about those not being removable.

This part/pieces, are very useful, and quite versatile, stronger hinges, reaching different angles that normal parts can't. And of course, like I have said before, with other prior videos, mechs, (yes I love building them). But they do wonders for joints, paired with T-bars, you get a swivel on both ends, and double bend. Which can be used outside of mechs, being used as a much more mobile hinge. Overall, on their own, they're amazing parts, and allow for many, MANY uses and builds when paired together, but they're at their fullest when you utilize those stud holes.

With a ton of those in light or dark gray you could make great rounded castle towers with varying diameters (yes, you can do this with plates, but it's pretty cost-prohibitive). There was a clone brick company that had those at one point, but my purist heart wouldn't let me go that way.

So LEGO has cloned a genuine part from some creative company and you call them a clone company? Your purist heart follows a company that 'copied' a Kiddycraft design and today sues more than designs. I also think this and in general open stud stuff is super amazing. I like to build some "over-engineered stuff" and it's amazing as mini technic thing. I.e. I have one speed champions scale car with steering (& suspension) on rebrickable, and although there I used technic for steering, I'm working on another one, and I'll be relying on these for steering mechanism (well not 100% sure, but 99% sure :) ), so overall insanely good piece. Similarly now (well I guess for quite some time) that there is 1x1 round with open stud, I do not see much point in closed stud one, apart from some decorations, and for me often that is somewhat secondary after structural and functional matters.

And a great sandbag piece would have a bit of curve to it on the top. Theres pretty much no way to do that with these. The smooth tiles look good, but not great. Then theres those awful Megabloks style sandbags that just look hideous. Is there any techniques you can think of to make nicer looking sandbags? Or chain link fences. Aside from jail bars, those large 8x8 or 10x10 grate plates, and the JP style electric fence, theres no good way AFAIK of making minifig scale chainlinked fencing. I think for both the best solution requires clever usage of existing parts, but I cant think of what parts would look good without being too clunky or too off model.
