I think Zac is going to be fantastic. He’s such a responsible player and from what I saw last season he doesn’t make many mistakes/doesn’t take many penalty minutes. On top of that he’s not afraid to jump on the offense.

That's a major flaw in Jones game, while It's good to jump on the offense as a defender sometimes, he does it way to often which leads to odd man rushes going the other way and he's not big/strong enough to physically force a bigger player to really slow down. While jones has great offensive abilities, he's really weak on the defensive end and his lack of size/weight doesn't help him in that regard.

This team absolutely needs: smarter, stronger, tougher, much more positional consistency and defensive prowess. Not only from the D-Men, but from the Forwards. Jones is very talented. Skating skills: exceptional. Very good with hockey smarts, in defending with his stick. But Jones is a liability, when opponents are very aggressive. Which will be almost every game. I know I'm repeating myself: but Jones is not what this team needs. Not with Fox and Miller already on the defensive core.

I agree with this 100%. Jones suffered a lot last year, due to his contract and couldn't be sent back down to the Wolfpack to gain more actual game experience. Due to that, Jones development took a hit, if I had to make a guess. I think players like Connor Mackey or Matthew Roberson would be better choices then Zac Jones atm. Plus, both Mackey and Robertson are 6"3" they can skate, play better defense and play a more physical type of games, which Jones is struggling with as of today. Which Jones will always struggle to be a consistent physical type of defensemen, due to his lack of size/weight. He could make up for that if Jones is in the right position on the ice, which he is still having issues with.

I love Zac Jones game...only problem is they need grit, and thats not his game.

I honestly think he play's the wrong position. I believe with the skill set Jones is good with, he'd be a really good center. I just don't think him playing as a defender where his skill set will always be limited and labeled as sub-par is best for Jones. His skating/passing/shooting skills are all really good, I think moving Jones to Center would be very interesting.

Jones is certainly talented. However, I like my D to be big & strong physically. One of the reasons I never liked Pionk. Winning board battles in the D-zone is a very overlooked part of playing defense, especially when your playing aggressive forechecking teams.

It’s a no-brainer. Gus is not worth 2 million not for us.

At 5' 10" 180 lbs this guy will get eaten up in the playoffs. Nils Lundqvist is bigger than this guy.

Trade him . He's too small. Get a draft pick

While I agree that would be the logical choice to do with Jones at this point. His value is almost non-existent, due to his contract/Rangers management within the player development area, really screwed Jones over. Not only couldn't Jones get sent back down, he had to basically sit in the press box or locker room while he traveled with the Rangers for the whole season, last year. So he got almost no actual game experience he needed in order to get better. So it really must put the Rangers in a tough spot, getting any real good value for Jones isn't going to happen, until he actually plays, wither it's on the Rangers or somewhere else.
