I’m in Houston and almost every dealer has a Sammy story. Years before this incident there was one at Prime Social. He kept berating and berating a dealer until the guy said “alright, let’s take it outside” and proceeded to head out to the patio. Sammy freaked out and called the cops. Prime ended up banning him.

what's also interesting about Sammy is that he is totally busto...a sick degenerate blackjack player ....dusted off pretty much all of his poker winnings in the pits on a daily basis .he was a fixture in the Bellagio blackjack pit and we used to see him there on a daily basis ..losing and steaming ....i would be shocked to learn if he ever plays higher than a $5 blind game of PLO (his game of choice) in Houston...even when he played on HSP back in the day he was always 100% staked by Lyle Berman and some others....until they got tire of him losing their money in the pits and dropped him ...he left vegas shortly after that...broke

He is total trash. Best story I ever heard about him was when he jokingly threw a $25k chip toward a dealer saying "there's a tip for you" (he notoriously never tips, since he hates dealers), the dealer says thank you and shoves the chip in his pocket just like dealers are supposed to do with all tips. Sammy obviously protested saying it was a joke and wanted the chip back. The casino can't make the dealer return it to him though, so he kept it and quit at the end of the event that he was working as a temp employee. I can't say it's 100% true, but the floor supervisor who told it to me was not the type to tell stories or spread rumors, especially about players.

Dealers don’t put tips directly into their pockets normally. They put them in a box and all dealers split them at the end of the night. At least that’s how most casinos do it anyway.

I remember thinking in like 2005 when I'd be in tournaments and see some of these guys treated like movie stars by the public that this was all gonna backfire. Because a lot of guys, like Sammy, who were being put on that pedestal were just lowdown gamblers. I'd see people having their kids take pictures with these guys like they played shortstop for the Yankees and thinking this is highly f'ing twisted.

Guy to my right was leaning on her a little and I finally turned to him and gently said something, but it got my point across and he laid off. Turns out this lady was fresh from dealer school.

I used to deal poker too and as you might guess I'm a real good tipper, but there's a couple of dealers that I have made a point of stiffing a few times recently, for their blatant intentional disrespect on top of their incompetence that has cost me a number of big pots. If you are ever in Columbus Ohio and you end up playing at Hollywood Casino's poker room, you will see exactly what I'm talking about in short order. How they speak to elderly players is horrible to the point of bullying. And they run off a lot of the larger fish too. They often have way less games going than some of the small private clubs around town.

Funny, that’s not at all how I remember him. The epic bluff Chris pulled off was not the kind an experienced pro would have made. This worked in Chris’ favor. Also, the pressure for the win sat squarely on Sammy. There was comparatively nothing to lose for Chris. Those hands were epic, but what I distinctly remember was Sammy’s calm good natured congratulations of Chris’ in the moments after what would have been a devastatingly gut wrenching loss. It showed a character worthy of admiration, likability and respect. Sammy was cut from a different cloth. For me, he was the personification of something romantic that once existed about the game before it became solved. He was like a call back to riverboat gamblers before his time. He brought a unique style with his impeccable attire, cool hand luke banter, creative unconventional fearless play style - all with an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips. He was his own man and that scores high on the genuinely cool list for me. His plays and presence on cash game series “high stakes poker” was legendary. I can think of few players more entertaining to watch.

Floor managers need to do more to control players like this. I once witnessed a similar issue where a player that was losing started berating the dealer over and over. The floor was called repeatedly and didn't do anything. The guy went on to lose yet another pot and called the dealer a "F$&king little monkey" (he was asian, the player was white). The dealer snapped and flung his entire chip tray at the player. The dealer was fired. Due to overwhelming player support he was hired back on about a year later.

Sammy is notorious for being a huge douche at the tables too, making people chip huge stacks of cash so he could flex, only for him to play two hands, or none at all(playing black jack) and just leave the table, stiffing dealers and staff on tips and stuff like that. There was a thread on reddit(so take it with a grain of salt) where someone said they had a friend who was a poker dealer who was dealing a table Sammy was at where won a pot for like over 1 mil, maybe even 2 mil i cant remember, dude didnt even throw a single chip to the dealer. Real cheapass.

I, on a handful of occasions, had Farha sitting in the 9/10 seat within striking distance. I am not a man whom hates anyone and yet Sammy Farha is the exception. No person with the venomous tirades he embraces and spews forth to fellow human beings could love themselves let alone love others. This dealer is my new hero. Someone finally put Sammy in his place. I left the industry in much the same manner as he except actual physical contact was not involved. (Not to say I didn't threaten such contact.) But that is what happens when you push a human being to their limits. I had my chance back in 2006 to go off on him when he sat in a very high limit mixed game. It boiled down to the respect I had for the other players at the table (only two I would identify because they have passed away were Doyle Brunson and Chip Reese.) that I didn't slam the stub into Farha's face. (Stub: the cards in the dealers hand after all cards have been used or the pot was awarded prior.)

if the blinds were anywhere between 25k/50k and 40k/80k then it’s a completely legal reraise. You on have to at least match the previous raise . So if it’s 25k/50k raise to 175k is 125k raise so 300k would be a min raise

Jamie was trying to use his talk of persuasion against Sammy in a hand, where Jamie got dealt poker Kings and Sammy got dealt pocket Aces. They bet preflop, then both agreed to see the flop, then check dark, then reraised each other and Sammy kept on trying to tell Jamie that he had him and Jamie was pleading with him you don't, but let's just check it down. I have you beat. At one point in the hand, Jamie said that Sammy had Aces, but Sammy, I believe, never acknowledged it. So Sammy wanted to bet, and Jamie kept telling him, "You better not." Let's just check it down. So Sammy unfortunately agreed, only because Sammy said he like Jamie, and Jamie got to keep like $180,000 behind, even though if Sammy bet it, Jamie would have called. I believe it was High Stakes Poker Season 4? If not, then Season 3. But definitely one to watch.

Ffs I hear dealers being blamed for bad runs all the time; it is part of their job to suck it up at the table and know that it is just a release valve for players who are losing money while they are being paid ( and tipped by the losers opponents). You are there to serve the players ( and take your boss’s rake) not to react or escalate ( tbf there are limits to how anyone should be treated but I’m not hearing anything about this player being overly aggressive or personal, just whining about bad hands or beats). Also as a top pro and tv player he has a right to say that he is uncomfortable with another player being at his table, and to be fair this video didn’t say that this is what he said. It says that he informed the venue that there might be an issue with the other player ( which proved to be correct). This guy lost his job because he couldn’t be professional and his actions later proved that he is a hot head and violently reactionary person.

When every dealer who has dealt to you has an issue with your behavior, you can be sure the player isn't merely whining about hand or bad beats. I've met dealers across the nation, poker and table games and all of them are extremely negative about Sammy. I deal blackjack and just imagine working a job for years where some people will blame you for their bad decisions every single day. Imagine going to your job and having to put up with that every day for years. I realize that it's part of the job and almost always let it roll off my back but sometimes you have to gently give it back to some of these people. Being a 'top pro and tv player' doesn't give you a right to be a horse's ass.

i always have and will like Sammy..i still think he had way more class in the poker games than a lot of those now (phil) comes to mind..moneymaker was a cheat and will be remember as one..Phil Hellmuth is a bad sportsman in the game he thinks he can cuss everyone out and its not bad Etiquette if someone stands up to him he believes that person is the bad guy and in the wrong lol..phil is a fukn joke i dont care how many bracelets he has.

Sammy Farha is the reason why High Stakes poker was the #1 poker show. He was the man, but he's a gambler, a degenerate gambler. So is Phil Ivey, they're all kind of pieces of shit to an extent but I love them anyways. Even like, Chris Ferguson and the full tilt stuff, not really different than what Phil Ivey did scamming baccarat tables for years, playing with advantages in cash games for years, ruining his reputation. Sammy was respected though like no other but some despise him as well. But sadly for him, he made a bad laydown heads up, and the rest is history. Him and Erik Seidel, TJ Cloutier and Dewey Tomko, are for sure the best players to be runner up but never won it. He was always a cash game player though, not a tournament player. So, him still winning a few bracelets into 2010 is very impressive considering he barely played WSOP tournaments! But almost none of them are good guys. If you think they are, you're naive and quite frankly, clueless. Sammy is A goat level cash game player, for sure 1 of the top 9 ever

If a casino is stupid enough to agree to use the specific type of cards Ivey asked them to use because he had discovered a printing irregularity on that specific type of cards..... good for him.
