You can be clean and still have roaches. In the previous apartments I lived in I was on the 2nd floor and the people on the first floor were human trash cans. Their unit became so infested the roaches went up into my unit and invaded. Went on for months and months until pest control inspected my unit, downstairs and the two adjacent units and found the human trash cans downstairs.

Hey here's a pro tip for ya when dealing with the liquid metal around the apu die. Use a cotton swab doused in alcohol and use it to "sweep" up the liquid metal into a ball u can reclaim 99 percent of it this way and just push it back on to the die then spread with clean Qtip. I replaced my metal liquid with thermal mx6 paste and I have exactly the same temp as before so the metal liquid if you don't have it the paste does the job very very well

Hey folks, not trying to complain but these longs aren't as 'long' as they can be! Like for example you guys cut out parts of Steve removing the ports. I know that may seem like it's boring to some folks but this stuff is like ASMR to the rest of us and we expect it in these longs. We make them as long as we can while still making sense and not showing me removing every screw in real time. That but then again people who tend to have problems with bugs means their house is dirty or have something else going on that lures the bugs in both cases screams human error. My office is dirty but dry, mostly its dust and bunch of materials, tech etc hoarded up but no food residue so I have zero bugs here. Meanwhile my mother's and grandfathers house right next to mine (we are neighbors) they have roaches and ants. They always make a mess and sometimes dont clean up properly, there is ALWAYS food on the table in all rooms or gooey stuff around the trash can in the kitchen. No wonder ... It's enough to invite the bugs in. OR this PS5 was found in a bin. Sun was shining on it making it hot so the bugs made it their new home. Considering that the disc drive plastic was almost melted I'd say chances are this was baking in the sun on a trash pile or just inside a bin baking it in ... Some shops would charge tons of money for a repair so people suck it up and buy a new unit. After all. This is how trash Nintendo and Microsoft products keep selling in the west too. People are hooked and cant or wont pay repair fees rather buy new units and those always break. No wonder why the landfill is full of them ...

If you're living in an apartment complex that isn't keeping up with their own pest control and your neighbors get an infestation, odds are they're going to find their way into your shit too. Not in all cases, of course, because sometimes it IS just a cleanliness issue, but there are plenty of other scenarios that could lead to this that don't reflect badly upon the owner by default. It's why it's usually better not to make assumptions about the situations of strangers.

I imagine this is probably a logistical nightmare, but it would be cool if you could put equipment settings on the screen when you use them. When soldering you could show the iron temperature settings, or when using the heat gun you could show the flow rate and temperature, etc.

Oh boy this brings me back, my first ps5 AND xbox series s both got infested and just stopped working completely, for context I lost my joh and ended up homeless, my aunt who was let's say heavy on illegal substances offered a room and I jumped at it. Little did I know that her place was absolutely riddled with these bugs, over time before I realised her kids had gotten into my stuff amd started using my stuff taking it to the living room and quickly put it back when I got back from work once I found a new job. They got inside the systems and they just simply broke, I lived way out from any place to fix it so I just threw them in the trash and eventually got new everything once I got a new place because MY GOD it felt so disgusting.

I've battles bug problems (ants, roaches, silverfish, house centipedes, you name it, they've found their way into my home at some point because I live in the middle of nowhere and they see a house as a giant shelter) on and off my entire life, but I've never had them infest a console because I keep them stored in airtight containers or bags when not in use. So I guess that's my advice for folks who have also fought those battles. Buy an airtight storage container and keep your expensive stuff in them when you aren't using them.

This console was a recent addition to the world. Imaging the inside of the house that this ps5 came from. Roach guts all over the newer ps5 means the house must be extremely infested. I grabbed some old toys out the trash that were still in box. Man what a mistake. Beware bringing roaches into your home by mistake. Freeze or dryer anything you are unsure of bugs. Beware

i fixed a "air plane" sounding PS4 that had the cover for the hard drive missing. was so gross at how much dust (not many roaches) i found. took pictures to show the owner and glad I charged the amount i did before i started the deep clean (took hours with much needed breaks). explained the piece that is missing needs to be purchased to avoid this from happening again and how to properly dust it every so often.

The way people treat their 500-600$ consoles is disgusting. If my kids ever treated their stuff like this I would never buy them anything again and they know it. The problem is parents think that giving stuff to their kids, that they buy on credit, is a substitute for good advice and proper parenting. I make my kids put some money towards the things they want and now they're mid teens they come to work with me a couple of mornings a week so they learn the value of money and just how long it takes to earn. They then appreciate that tech doesn't just drop through the letterbox and that it costs a lot of money!!!!!

My ps5 is a 2021 gen 2 and my disc drive shit the bed. No roaches it just stopped working entirely, wouldn't take discs in or eject them, so I bought a brand new drive. Sony really skimped on the Blu-ray drives because keeping the console vertical shouldn't cause disc feeding errors. Oh and don't vape around your ps5... it sucks in the vapor like a vacuum.

It all comes down to how much use you get from the console. Are we talking 2-4 hours daily or mainly on the weekends? It's not gonna hurt anything to check, just as long as you're familiar with liquid metal. Using a cotton swab with 97%-99% IPA to grab most of the liquid metal will be great. That way, you can reapply it evenly.
