White is lost at 3.45 min after Qd5 instead of a5 by black. Threatening qa2 mate and qh1 picking up rook. Only defense is qb1 protecting both a2 and h1. In that case, black plays qf3 picking up rook on h5. If rf5 then bf5 followed by qe2 picking up knight !!! Or if rg5 then bg5 exchange up

recommendation: hikaru vs gata kamsky, titled Tuesday round 7, amazing 'blunder' by hikaru but he got lucky and everything worked out 🎉 It also features "alpha zero" like position with gata's pieces completly locked out of the game. He commented on the game in his yesterday's youtube video. Truly a beautiful position !

Useless at chess, but wondering what I'm missing. At 2:57, what would happen if ... Be5 Attacks the rook on h1. Can't move the rook to h2 as would be taken by the bishop on d6. if blocked by b -d4 rook takes b4, supported by the pawn, and rook starts to infiltrate. ANd yep, I'm expecting to get a DOH! moment at the replies pointing out the obvious flaw

The black king can go to F7. End of attack ? What do I miss ?
@esven92632 ай бұрын
I assume you mean the opportunities for Rxf7 in game 1? After Rxf7 if the king takes with Kxf7 there's Qxg6+ and the king has to move back to f8 or g8 allowing Qxg7# with the queen defended by the rook.
@otteottema68392 ай бұрын
@@esven9263 The king does not take the rook on F7, but moves away and escapes on the king site.
@esven92632 ай бұрын
@@otteottema6839 You said "The black king can go to F7" so I gave you the line where the black king takes on F7 to show why that's not a valid response. If you wanted another line you'd need to suggest a different move. Since there are multiple times where Rxf7 was available I'll talk specifically about the position at 5:55. If black doesn't take the rook with the king after Rxf7 then the knight is currently hanging and double attacked by the queen and rook. If black moves the knight anywhere then Rxg7+, Kh8, Qh7# is forced mate in 2. The queen is the only piece from black that can possibly add a defender to the knight. If black defends the knight using Qd6 you just take the knight with Rxg6 which comes with an attack on the queen. There are a lot of ways thing can go from there but they all end badly for black. Black can try to take the rook with Kf7 sacrificing a queen pawn and knight for two rooks and leaving them with a completely exposed king. That's completely lost at this level though. They can try to block the rooks attack on the queen and defend the g7 square with Bf6 but you take the bishop with Rgxf6. If the pawn takes your rook gxf6 then Qh7# wins on the spot. If the queen takes then black has given up a queen, knight, bishop, and pawn for two rooks. Blacks best chance to complicate things would probably be Qe6 which attacks the rook on f7. That's still not very good though because with the queen on e6 a well timed Nf4 lets white get a knight into the attack with tempo. After Qe6 white can play Rxg7+ which black basically has to capture with Kxg7. If they run the king to h8 then eventually they'll have to give up everything trying to stop Qh7# and if they move to f8 then the bishop and knight have an easy way into the attack and all of whites material is barreling down on blacks open king. Things get complicated from there but it's all losing. After Kxg7 there's Nf4 forking the queen and the now pinned knight on g6. Blacks only way to save the queen while preventing a fast checkmate after Qxg6+ would be Qf7 at which point you're free to take the knight with Nxg6. That sets up a nasty discovered check with Ne5 threatening to win the queen again. From there pretty much whatever you do the situation seems hopeless for black. I don't see a completely forced mate but the king is so exposed there are tactics and opportunities to win more material everywhere. If black does just about anything else after Rxf7 then Qxg6 wins a free knight and threatens checkmate with Qxg7#. Even if the king moves to h8 like you seem to suggest Qg7# would still be a threat. The only piece that can defend the g7 square is the bishop with Bf6 or Bf8. If the queen is still on the 7th rank then either of those moves to defend checkmate on g7 would hang the queen to the rook on f7. If black moved the queen off the 7th rank after Rxf7 and not to e6 or d6 like I covered earlier then after Bf6 or Bf8 is forced to defend against mate you have more threats on g7 then black can defend against. So you sack the rook on f7 with Rxg7+ and there's nothing black can do. If Bxg7 then Qxg7# if Kh8 then Qg8#. Putting the position into the engine, stockfish seems to think 1. Rxf7, Qd6 2. Rxg6 Kxf7 3. Rxd6 Bxd6 is the best continuation where black gives up a queen, knight and pawn for two rooks. It gives the position roughly +5 for white.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5SsaKiEbbmejJI what about pawn to g4 to open up the lines ? After his knight move, his bishop isn't protecting g4 anymore. If he doesn't capture with his pawn, then we just grab it and open the file for attack. If he grabs it, we can then push our H pawn forward and open up this line to for our rook
