While it looks cool with the carbon fibre and lowered, what I want out of my"GR" type Prius is the same wheel travel with more wheel control, lighter 215-55-17 tires, with negative camber up front and more bolster in the seats. Slightly quicker steering. Maybe add an even better stereo than the JBL. That would be my home grown GR Prius. Lighter aluminum control arms might also make the wish list. A carbon fibre hood would save quite a bit of weight.

There needs to be more of a movement towards thicker sidewall rugged wheel and tire setups. Low profile tires, bigger rims introduce dynamics you only explore on the fringes of a daily driven economy car. You really want a cushy suspension and sure footed feel over bumps around a corner. This is why I got rid of my 18’s on my carolla hybrid and put on 16” sparco’s with 55 series side wall cross climate 2’s. Unbelievable transformation in ride, highway noise and suspension flexibility over unforgiving terrain. I drove on long service roads across the country with entertaining levels of grip and very little concern over fist size rocks along the way. People underestimate the fun of having thicker grippy tires and cool looking 16’s. Stop with this rubber band trend manufactures push. These are not sports cars. Lamborghini and Porsche are onto something with there rugged trim levels on traditionally low slung fragile missiles.

I'm curious about the wheels and tires sizes. The OEM tires are quite narrow with a width of 195mm. I wonder what's the max that fits, because from what I read and watched, the turning radius is pretty short, therefore the wheels turn quite a bit in their wells; larger tires could easily rub without spacers or out of spec offset. I still can't believe I'm watching videos about the Toyota Prius and can see myself buying one for everyday use... There's a mustard yellow Prime in my neighbourhood, it makes my head turn and makes me envious! What's happening?!

The Prius is a great car. So are most of the current Toyota hybrids; cheap to run with reliability that defies the complexity of the design. What German engineering spelt out 40 years ago (but has since lost the plot) Toyota/Lexus is happy to provide.

Fun facts, the 2017 Prius Prime had a carbon fiber components to make it as light weight as possible. I know that the hatchback was carbon fiber and the charging port also had carbon fiber parts. The next update to that generation, no more carbon fiber parts.
@EZPNZ3 ай бұрын
Didn’t know this! But seems like it’s not only for the 2017 year. Found this in the 2022 prime manual: Carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymer rear hatch: Prius Prime's rear hatch features more than just the unique design of the dual-wave glass. Made of carbon-fiber reinforced polymer, a Toyota first, the rear hatch is made to be rigid while still being lightweight. Using this advanced material reduces the overall weight of the car and helps contribute to its fuel efficiency. See numbered

I have the 2017 Prius Prime, indeed with the carbon fiber hatch you REALLY don't want to break and pay for out of pocket. Ditto for the amazing Bugatti Chiron looking headlight assemblies and the multi-curved rear hatch glass. I tapped the front (blinker) signal light into something and the assembly was $700+. Thankfully found one from a wreck on eBay for $150. I was not aware that later years in this 17-22 Prime didn't have the carbon fiber hatch structure, and I follow things on Prius Chat now and then. Are you sure about that?

I also own a 2024 GR Supra, thus driving the prius is the ultimate gas saver, A to B car in contrast to my weekend brawler. I started to look for customization for the prius because the body lines are fabulous and I love the proposition of carbon pieces. I must be honest, although these look to be high quality, I feel the prices should be slightly adjusted... Especially the small side mirror upper small pieces nearing the price of an entire front or rear piece.🤔 Just being honest and factually down the road, you may just see my prius sporting these parts! 😎👍

An honest number to shoot for, for Gen2, Gen3, Gen4 non-plugin is 62mpg at 60mph.

So if you’re in an area that requires a certain degree of expertise (for this example, race car building), you understand the trials and tribulations of building them which, no matter your passion, takes a toll on you. That said, I’m almost certain the Prius was the one car that just “works”, in that it’s soft on gas, easy to drive, and gets you to the destination with little drama. This allows you to “recoup” as it were. As someone who specializes in I.T. The last thing I want to do when I come home is work with more computers, networks, servers, etc. I just want something that’s low level and ‘works’. Passion can only go so far with fighting burnout, once it stops softening the blows of burnout, you’re on your own. For me, I simply disconnect. In that my ‘prius’ is a 70s Honda CB, or my bicycle. I ‘get’ it
