My daughter went in to see Dr. David with pain on her knee, she was unable to walk normally. She said her pain was at an 8/9 (she has a high pain tolerance). She was diagnosed with a tibial shift. After treatment with Dr. David she is back to playing collegiate volleyball! Thank you Dr. David for treating my daughter and sharing your knowledge with everyone!

I went to an orthopedist for medial knee pain. I was sent for an MRI and it showed no tear in my meniscus. The orthopedist was going to do a scope to see if there was a tiny tear not showing up on the MRI. I decided to wait and rest. I watched this video and had immediate relief. I will continue to perform this therapy. Thank you Dr. David!

Thank you. This is the most amazing therapy. My knee pain developed because my balance got thrown off when I had a bad break on my left ankle. Hobbling around for a year, I stressed out my right knee. My doc wanted to use pain meds and meniscus surgery…but this therapy gave me instant relief. The more days I do this exercise the less often I have pain. Now I can go for 3-mile walks, as long as I do these therapies regularly. And over time my knee is improving. Such a relief!

After watching this video, I did the exercise to shift tibia outword. Within 3 - 4 days, I am comfortable from internal knee pain of my right leg. This secret diagnosis is amazing. ! Secondly, I revealed that, the inward shift of my tibia is due to a wrong practice of seating on the floor with cross legs and that too in a ' Yogas posture called as ' padmasana.' Now I have stopped seating in Padmasana and see as how can I shift my tibia outword with respect to thi bone. ( Femur )

It works! I’ve been in pain for 10 days since getting out of my truck and putting my foot on the ground, having pain, and unable to put weight on it. I pushed on the bones and didn’t feel any difference. Then did the toe in foot drag exercise. The pain left after 10 reps. Another 10 reps and there was a click. The third 10 reps and a little click. Then I stood up and no pain. I could put weight on it. I then realized that the toe in foot drag is the opposite of what I was doing while driving the truck for an hour: right legs out, foot toed out, pushing on the gas pedal. I’m exercising it every hour and feeling way better. Thanks Doc!

After a short walk a couple of years ago (I knew that my knee was aching for a couple of days beforehand), my knee just seemed to twist/lock up. 🤔 It was impossible to put any weight on it. My friend had to go back to the car and bring it to me. My knee would not bend at all. I could not even get myself up off of a chair! The MRI showed a torn meniscus. I had surgery; my knee was so swollen! The surgery proved that my knee had two meniscus tears. My doctor said that my knee caps are not aligned, but both knees show that the kneecaps are slightly pointing towards the outside areas of my knees. My inner knee hurts. Even though I can walk four miles a day, it is painful. I thought that it must be painful due to scar tissue from the surgery. But this video has given me new insight on my situation. I will try these exercises. Thank you so much for this insight!!! My misalignment of the knees must be the issue. My doctor also said that I had arthritis though. Hmm, I am already trying to build up my gluts by turning out my feet a little during my daily walks. Walking backyards also helps, right? Thanks again for this most important information. 😁

- Thank you very much Dr. David for your secret diagnosis on shift of tibia. - I found my tibia has been shifted due to seating on floor with crossed legs in Padmasana , which is followed in ayoga. - But after realising this fac, I stopped seating in that posture. And now doing the exercise as suggested in this video. - I am finding myself relieved from internal knee pain thrue this rear technic of shifting the tibia at its proper position. Thank you once again for this video.

What in the world! 😮 I’ve had arthritis for over 20 years. Just recently had to go to Dr because I couldn’t bend left knee. Right knee is actually is worse bone on bone they said. I did get injections which helped immensely! I was no longer able to walk without extreme pain and couldn’t bend it to get in car! But I’ve noticed the big bumps on inside of knees where it hurts now. I assumed the bone on bone issue since most water came off of them. I tried this movement on my right knee and the big bump is gone! I cannot believe this lol I mean it might not be permanent right now but my goodness! I will keep watching and following your instruction! I definitely do not want surgery at 62! Thank you so much!

Wow, I am pretty sure this is my current problem! I have had knee problems since teenage years. This problem for about 5 months. I am now close to 60. My Dr. wants to give me knee replacement. (I even get bruises on the insides of my knees, doctor is baffled by this and thinks I must have bumped it, even though I tell him bruises appear after my knee slips out of place). I hope doing this exercise will KEEP the tibia in place. It seems to slowly slide into place then gradually slips out again after finishing. I was unable to do your "tailgate swing" without pain, except when I lifted kneecap up. I admit I gave up! Worst pain is whenever I sit in a chair and get up to straighten leg. What I have been doing is pressing knee cap up to make it a little less painful. Another interesting relief I just found at the same time I found this amazing video, is my yoga teacher suggested sitting in padmasana(cross legged). I recently tried it with a new perspective, without fear. I just let go. My knee clicked, I was initially afraid, but then I stood up and straightened leg with no pain for first time in many months! Then ice due to some swelling. But like these exercises, it slowly slips back to what must be the uneven position. I have newfound hope that this will be the answer to this terrible pain. I am on the East Coast, but have family in Texas, perhaps I could stop in for an appointment! THANK YOU!!!

Amazing.. I've had that sore inner knee for over 2y and the pain is gone after one session. No doubt, I need to keep at it to get it really sorted but your explanation makes sense because my inner hamstring is also sore when I massage it. Thank you for your videos. So much of what you describe fits with my experience of what I have learned to avoid by trial and error but what you are offering is real improvement.

I had my ACL operation done in March 2023. I was told that my ACL was broken for a long time. Every time I would try to do a complete squat my damaged knee would buckle as if unhinged and the pain when straightening was excruciating. I thought that after the ACL Surgery the knee would not do that when squatting, but it happened again. I guess it could be the inner hamstring muscle not strong enough. It’s so difficult as I have to stop workouts and my mind is always thinking if the knee would get unhinged again.

Thanks so much for this video. I've seen many specialists and no one knew what I had. An MRI scan revealed maltracking on the hurting knee. Surgeon said I was probably born like this and other knee is probably the same even though no pain there. Are the exercises you're showing in this video aimed at correcting maltracking or is this a different problem? I do feel like I have this tibial shift as I can feel a pointy bone on inner side of hurting knee which is where it's painful. Thank you.

I have this tibial shift bilaterally, not sure if it’s common to be on both sides when it’s a malalignment issue, but just doing the last exercise for 30ish reps has helped relieve some pressure/stress in that area, so I’m hoping with doing it each day that I’ll be able to run pain free again soon!

I had a knee problem for about 4 weeks, and just extending my leg hurt a lot, and it especially hurt if I bent my leg all the way and sat on knees with my butt to my calves. my leg went from 30% functionality (and a shitload of pain) to 80% (still relatively painful but much better) over the 4 weeks of taking hot baths, stretching, sleeping with my leg straight using a muscle relaxing icy hot type cream, and all types of mindfulness but it still never healed quite right. I just had this nagging feeling like " I NEEDED TO POP THE INSIDE OF My KNEE " and no matter how much I tried to pop it, IT JUST WOULDNT POP. I came across this video. It had me doing some of the exercises and then it started to feel better 10 minutes later. But then I decided to put my left leg on top my other leg (think of the way a guy would sit with his left leg ankle crossed on his right thigh, not the way girls sit with legs crossed) I decided to just put my left elbow into side of my left knee, then lightly but kind firmly press down with my body weight while my right hand was on my left shin. Then felt something in my leg just shift (my tibia) and I think I put it back in place. lmao And I immediately went from 80% mobility to 99% healed in a matter of 1 minute. LOL Almost like a miracle. And now that I think about it, when I think back to the first day this all started in september, I was sitting very weird my legs pressed up against a bar on my desk leaning all my weight into my left leg while gaming and I didn't really move my legs for a whole 30 minutes so they felt like jello after being in that awkward position, then sure enough my leg started hurting like crazy that night. I GUESS THAT IS WHAT SHIFTED MY TIBIA and started giving me pain on top of my tibia and just below the knee joint (So basically it felt like the pain was coming from inside my knee unable to pop) Now my leg doesn't hurt at all and its been 2 days later, still no pain.

Many thanks to Dr. David. I have a question: can bow legs and external tibia torsion be corrected without surgery
@epmanualphysicaltherapyАй бұрын
Hi Mohammed, Thanks for your question! In many cases, bow legs and external tibial torsion can be improved without surgery, especially if the issues are mild to moderate. Physical therapy exercises focused on strengthening and alignment can sometimes help with stability, function, and even appearance, depending on individual factors. We have a video that you may find helpful. It it is for knock knees but the same techniques apply to bow knees. You can access it here: "Knock Knee Pain Help" kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1mbBL_mKzTcsYAauVI2XRxk5 That said, severe cases or structural misalignments may still require surgical intervention for full correction. We'd recommend consulting with a healthcare provider for a proper evaluation to understand what options might work best for your specific needs. We hope you found this information helpful to you. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

Can doing a lot of gluteus medius clamshells cause the tibia shift Dr David mentioned?
@epmanualphysicaltherapy Жыл бұрын
Hey there, many things can cause a tibial shift! For instance, while doing the clamshells, it is possible you are using the Tensor Fascia Lata muscle. This muscle crosses the knee and can cause a tibial shift if it becomes too tight. So, it is very important to make sure that you are only using the Gluteus Medius for this exercise. Hope this helps!

Ideally how many times a day should the first exercise be done (I know the 2 minutes total just how many times a day)? Or does it correlate with the 2nd exercise doing it hourly (ideally)?

I just came across this and thought it might apply. I was 2months post op TKR, and doing my recovery walking. I had a tweak where my knee overextended a bit as I was stepping down off a curb. Since then, strong pain on the medial side, a twanging of my knee in flexion and extension, and lateral/posterior pain (less than medial). Increased pain with interior rotation. X-ray is ok, bone scan shows accumulation of radioactive isotope in the same areas paired with swelling on the lateral distal femur. I feel a slight edge in the medial tibial palpating, but the interior rotation exercise is agony for me. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated for relief or possible injury root causes.

Whats the reason for this Tibial shift? Can I run with this injury on?
@JustSylBeauty11 ай бұрын
would this show on xray? I feel like this is exactly my problem but xray came back looking normal. will this cause walking to worsen this condition? during the initial injury I was kneeling/squating twisted my knee and something felt out of order so I had to kick my leg out for it to snap back in place 😕

What if you have a bump and pain on the outside and you got a tibial shift, because I have it on the outside of my knee

I don't like to post negative comments, but I self-diagnosed myself after watching this video thinking this is what I had. Doing the exercises for a few days aggravated my situation and made it worse with throbbing pain now on day #5:-(

Hey Lois! We are terribly sorry to hear that your knee pain has been aggravated and you are dealing with throbbing pain. It is possible that perhaps this might not be the right exercise for you if a tibial shift isn't what you were dealing with. It could also be that your knee didn't react well to the amount of exercise you did - maybe the intensity was to high or you possibly overworked the knee joint with too much too soon. This isn't uncommon, when dealing with injuries as such it is important to keep in mind that you have to start small and build tolerance and strength in the knee joint little by little. We would suggest that you continue to rest until the throbbing pain in your knee has ceased a significant amount before trying anything else. Once you feel confident its healed enough, it is up to you if you'd like to give the exercises in this video another try - this time with less reps and les time throughout the day. Here are some additional exercises you could consider doing to potentially help, here are the videos for you: “Top 5 Glute Muscle Exercises For Knee Pain” kzbin.info/www/bejne/hInHdJ2KZ7angKM “Top 6 Standing Glute Exercises To Help Knee Pain” kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHWaeoV4m69go68 “3 Big Reasons Your Glute Muscles Won’t Work Well For You” kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipLQiaKopt12d80 Also, here's a whole playlist for you on the topic of inner knee pain: "Inner Knee Pain Help" kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1ma8eg9DwBsl5IRgnLdKCcHs We'd love to hear more about your progress! 🙌

I've told my physiotherapist that this is working for me but she doesn't believe me. She told me not to do anything other than what she says. I have to go to her because it's a work injury. Can I get a doctors recommendations note from you? Lol Just kidding! I'm going to try and get her to watch this video. Thanks! again!

That last exercise was very painful but praying that this will help thank you I love you videos!
@epmanualphysicaltherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Debra! Sorry to hear that you're having pain on the exercise :-( It could be a variety of reasons: -your technique is off a bit (review the video and make sure you're doing it exactly as shown) -your doing it too aggressively (lighten up on your force with your hands and when dragging your foot) -you have a tibial shift going the other way (you'll have to try switching your hand placement to push the bottom part of your knee joint inward rather than outward, but do the same exercise) -you might have another condition that needs to be addressed first (check out this video to learn what else could be causing your inner knee pain kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnzcoYmhgbl0p9U ) We hope this helps!

I am having outer knee pain when doing this any thoughts??
@epmanualphysicaltherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Debra, you may have over-corrected your knee joint alignment. This is possible especially if you're generally a flexible person. It may also be a sign that your knee joint is shifted the opposite way that we show this correction for. That happens very rarely.

Great information, exactly where I have pain, not where the doctor insists where it should be (Pes anserine bursitis). All this explains it well, trouble is, bring something like this up to the doctor and its instant attitude. How dare anyone even make a suggestion about what might be going on with thier own body.

Hi Williecrts, We are so glad you found this helpful. Just in case you're interested, we have an inner knee pain helplist you might also find helpful. You can access it here: "Inner Knee Pain Help" kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1ma8eg9DwBsl5IRgnLdKCcHs Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

If you're watching this, GET UP! Be active! Your knees and body hurt from NOT using it(properly), NOT the other way around!!! While other things worsen with use, our bodies do the opposite(kind of)... Get up, go outside.
