Salmon fishermen here and passionate about salmon. 15:40 Paul, I would encourage you to take a deeper dive into wild caught Alaskan sockeye salmon. Sockeye are unique among salmon because their diet consists of red algea and plankton they do not feed on other fish as all other species of salmon do so they're heavy metal counts are extremely low on top of that their lifespan by the time they're caught are 1 to 2 years old so they haven't had a lot of time to accumulate metals. Alaskan waters are also some of the most pristine waters and micro plastics levels are lower then most .
@DaveMar-w6r2 ай бұрын
Thank you for this post. I enjoy sockeye and continue to eat it for the reasons you state. However, lowest levels of microplastics is good but still exposure to plastics exists. I have reduced my consumption of sockeye over the recent years.

*FUN FACT:* As a long time farmer whom has raised cows and sold them at auction I can tell you first hand that I've seen milk cows with broken legs, with milk sacks ripped open, and beef cows that are sick and dying being sold at auctions and the large slaughterhouses buy these up and that meat is mixed in with all the rest and sold by the big box stores. Whenever there is a meat (hamburger) recall it always involves tons and tons of meat because it came from 1000 cows and all mixed together. Buy your meat from your local farmer or rancher. Otherwise, the meat you buy probably has sick cow meat in it I don't give a damn whether it was "grass fed grass finished certified pastured raised organic $21.99 a pound" or not.

I love Pecorino Romano so much. This is basically where I get all my animal based food. I love the grass fed burgers also, I eat like 4-5 a day. Costco has also had lots of organic mangos lately, I have been eating mostly organic mangos, organic orange juice, organic coconut water, and organic blueberries as my fruit, I will usually pick 2 to eat in one day and get like 200-250 calories from fruit total. I have gotten both of those yogurts before. The Bellwether farms just arrived at our location like 3 weeks ago and there was a huge sale so we bought 6 which was funny. I buy a thing of wild caught salmon probably once every 2 months and just eat it periodically because it has unique nutrients. Alaskan sockeye has been what I pick usually, and I believe this one is really low in heavy metals. Thank you for all your work Paul! Costco is awesome, this is the only place I shop for all my animal based food. In Switzerland we have SwissLachs, which raises salmon in an indoor facility that adheres to strict guidelines ensuring the fish are free from contaminants like PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, and PBDEs. The salmon are raised without antibiotics or hormones, and their natural orange color comes from high-quality feed containing natural pigments like astaxanthin. SwissLachs meets safety standards that allow the salmon to be eaten raw without freezing at -20°C, thanks to its parasite-free, controlled environment. Delivered fresh in insulated packaging with ice, the salmon stays cold but not frozen, ready for raw consumption like sushi. These practices align also with the FDA guidelines for raw fish consumption in the U.S., which stipulate similar standards for aquaculture-raised, parasite-free fish.

I've bought both the Kirkland and the Kerrygold butter, and I can say that the kirkland brand "grassfed" butter is much closer in room-temperature firmness and "waxiness" (and therefore I assume fat composition) to the conventional butter. The Kerrygold is consistently softer and less wax-like at the same temperature, which points to a bit of a different fatty acid profile.

I looked up the Kirkland manchego, which is sheep milk cheese from Spain and delicious. But it has been pasteurized. Usually it would be raw. You can look up specific cheeses online to see if they’ve been heated.

Hello! I have been watching your videos for a while and have been animal based for almost a year. I love the way I feel, but I am starting to get super interested in nutrition. I have just been eating like how you say to eat, but I want to gain a deeper understanding and actually KNOW stuff like how you do. Could you make a video on how to find/read/interpret articles? Maybe stuff to look out for like conflicts of interest, etc. Thanks!

Odd…. I was always told avocado oil has a higher temp point so it’s better to cook with

paul prefers fruit to salad .. while ignoring that tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, squashes, eggplants, olives, and many more, are also fruits. you are allowed to use olive oil with these :)

I tried the New Zealand butter and honestly it doesn't taste nearly as good as Kerry Gold. We have a local brand here that tastes even better

i go to Costco love shopping there. They have 3 Aisles of Vitamin and Minerals and Natural herbs. I have yet to find Raw Cheese. Would love to buy some. Kerry Gold is good Ireland. I love Irish cheese there. I like Ghee cooking i notice that cooking with Olive oil my scrambled eggs it woukd stick to the pan i would have to soak my pan for 3 days. Clean your Grapes in Vinegar to get rid of the wax on them. Only Clean what you are going to eat. Cause without the wax they get bad fast.

Speaking of fish, they do have a selection of an almost perfect food-sardines in olive oil. No heavy metals in those tiny fish!

Great content as always Paul! See if you couldn’t get raw milk, would you drink low temp pasturised organic milk and do you think you would tolerate this? Be an interesting experiment!
