Kyosho Mad Van VE brushless monster truck review
A massive thankyou again do everyone that donated for the 'Fan Van', as always the love is really appreciated.
So, it was fun, it DID put a smile on my face and it took it like a champ! Not as basher but for the money its a fun little RC! We do need to see if we can plug a programme card in and do something about the non existent brakes though! 2s and 3s speed runs, the race track and the skate park and this little monster truck is still going! Next run... Sandy woods!

I absolutely love mine, it’s incredibly fun and takes a beating. I run mine on 3s and haven’t had any issues other than the motor being misaligned after a brutal bash. .

Aside from their 8th scale racing stuff, Kyosho is going for a different appeal than just about any other manufacturer. Their offerings are kind of the odd ducks of RC. They don't have the nostalgia market cornered quite the way Tamiya does (nor does any other manufacturer, honestly) so they play a different hand. A weird hand. I've grown to love Kyosho over the years for exactly that reason. As a kid, I remember seeing the Kyosho MoonEyes Astro Van for like $400 and thinking "Who buys this crap?" Now, after decades of driving and wrenching on ubiquitous RC cars all targeting the same market, I think Kyosho's stuff is super vibed out and refreshing. A reminder of what the hobby is about to me. I didn't get it as a kid, but I sure do now. Will they hold up in a skate park bash session with a bunch of Traxxas cars? Of course not. They're not meant to. I had an Outlaw Rampage. Bad handling, poor durability, subpar power, the works. And one of the most fun cars to drive I've ever owned. Just depends on what you're going for.

Eyeing it up myself. Not meant to be a hard core basher (skate park) but great fun it seems on a track with average jumps. From what I've seen in videos stock gearing/esc/motor/receiver isn't the best on 3S (way to wild). Upgrade with better electronics or at least a receiver w/gyro and I bet it's awesome.

Just like most RCs, it will need some upgrades for the weak parts. I was thinking, it could be turned into a 4x4 Stadium Truck, remove the monster truck wheels & fit 1/10 stadium truck wheels & body. Gear it to suit.

Yeah blew my spur and pinion gear on 3s recommend 2s or pay $$ the consequences in non. Readily available replacement parts It's been two months looking for the steel spur 75t 48p gear. Jeeeesh , still don't have it as we speak.

Awesome vid! I also have a madvan, and it's my least favorite car out of the dozen. It's got a cool look to it, but it never holds up for any offroad/skatepark bash. And parts are not readily available from kyosho.

I wish I had remembered the Mad Van before I bought the Lunchbox. This is the superior option by far. Faster with better suspension and handling, particularly the steering. And it just looks sweet!
