I was there!!! I’m the dude in the pink hoodie. I was riding the atv. These were the most amazing guys nicest people you ever met running on no sleep for over 24 hours after Florida and they still came to the rescue. I shook hands and bumped fists with everyone. Truly an awesome experience getting to meet so many of my hero’s. Broke the tie rod in half on the quad following them out after the red truck got free and got dragged behind Dave’s truck to the trail head and caught a ride down in the big green tow truck.

Why would you take stock trucks up there in the first place? Poor Dave just wanted to rest with his family...
@shadetreeshenanigans768
@shadetreeshenanigans768 2 жыл бұрын
The trail is very deceiving the beginning is easy and open and it gets worse as it goes. I was on the 4x4 atv you see in the video I rode up and down the entire trail without a problem and ran into the guys in the white Tacoma who were buried then the other truck showed up and got stuck.

@@shadetreeshenanigans768 those guys that got stuck have no idea what they are doing. Had it in 2wd while they pulled him the first time, and had his wheel turned so they had to overcome that. Then he just whiskey throttles it back down the hill again??? Were they drunk?
@shadetreeshenanigans768
@shadetreeshenanigans768 2 жыл бұрын
@@Not_Tony The video doesn’t do the situation justice they had the red truck back up after the first pull to make space to turn around the machine to get the track back on. He was high centered and his wheels spun them caught and he slid down in a sketchy way he wasn’t really goosing it or anything extreme just a really shitty spot. As far as the 4wd Dave was giving instructions the entire time and I believe his wheels were caught between stuff and unable to turn. The winch on that beast of a machine was massive and probably capable of deadlifting 4 of those trucks.
@shadetreeshenanigans768
@shadetreeshenanigans768 2 жыл бұрын
@@Not_Tony Those fellas were actually very knowledgeable built a lot of the truck themselves the winch bumper setup and everything and actually got stuck facing entirely the opposite direction and winched themselves around nearly 180* before ending up against the rock. I have a lot of photos and videos from early in the day of all that.

This was a lesson learned. I need chains and another cable to use the snatch block. My truck was facing. The other direction. I used my winch to pull me up the hill and get turned around. But one I was facing the right direction my backend just kept sliding down the hill. I could have made it with even a set of chains for my back tires. These guys are awesome. I am very grateful for them coming up and helping us get out. They are very good and work great as a team. I did own a tow company for a very long time. I took axle from truck and when I needed a pull point, I pound the axle in the ground hook up to them and pull out whatever I was after. If you have a pickup truck do the same thing if you have a winch on your truck. Just keep a sledgehammer and a couple axle in your truck and your good to go. I had it all beaches, mountain, river bottoms and even some farms equipment pulls out of fields.

You need to start a Start-up check system for your equipment. Yes it takes time to check all the systems out before driving but in the long run you will save time and aggravation when you catch problems before they occur. I personally make it a habit of checking my vehicle every time I go to drive it to insure it is safe and in top condition before hitting the road.

We had a case here where two guys in 4x4 pickups when WAY up a logging road in the middle of winter in really deep snow. The only problem was that they made it, because the snow was really deep. The track they were following was packed enough to hold them, but when they reached the end, the first truck sank to the top of the hood as soon as he tried to turn. The other guy tried pulling him out, slid off the track, and also sank. They walked all the way back down (no cell phones and no service, anyway) and eventually called a towing company. He decided to go up with his 5 ton wrecker. He made it all the way, hooked onto both trucks, slid off the track, and sank to the top of HIS hood. I the end, they got hold of a local logging company, and they went up with a skidded with chains and a blade. He plowed the road going up, hooked onto all three vehicles, and yanked them down to the highway, where tow trucks took them home. All three trucks had to sit inside and wait for the snow packed all around their engines to melt. We got the story directly from the tow truck owner, because we got stuck with our custom 1-ton 4x4 wrecker pulling a sinking boat out on our trailer. The main ramp was covered in ice, so we had to use the old makeshift public ramp, which had a drop-off because of dredging. The boat was sinking, so we had to back out till the trailer tires went over the edge. The front end of our truck just came off the ground and the backs started digging when we tried to pull it. We called the towing company to have him bring his 5-ton tow truck, but it was sitting in his shop with the engine packed in snow, so he ended up having to bring both of his 1-tons to get us out. It was too bad we didn't have any way to record it (no cell phones cameras then), because it was quite a sight. All three tow trucks were doing wheel stands pulling that boat out until the tires came over the drop! But in the end, the rescue was a success all around, and the boat was back in service again shortly.

I have no idea what possesses people to do things like take their half ass 4x4 truck with no off-road mods up a 4wheeler trail🤦🤷🙅 Super cool of you guys to immediately go save some strangers right after getting back from Cleeters event in my home state: Florida the last bastion of true freedom. Love your energy guys, great recovery 🤘
