Need to haul that HET on a Front Load Lowbed / RGN (Removable Gooseneck) trailer to make loading/unloading safer and easier! That way it's not so high in the air when driving on and off the traler, has a low chance of flipping, the center of gravity is down closer to the ground when hauling making driving and turning safer for the driver pulling it, and your height clearances are lower for going under overpasses, bridges, power lines, trees, etc!

@jaxxtenmarkko8489 Жыл бұрын
@@mike.aya1220 stupid question but how much would u say those tanks weighed
@mike.aya1220 Жыл бұрын
@@jaxxtenmarkko8489 Depends which one we're talking about. The Abrahm M1 Abraham's tank weighed around 67 tons empty (about 69 tons with a combat load, and about 75 tons if the plow was added. The tanks we pulled out of the mud in Iraq were old Russian T-62s and BMPs and those are nothing like the M1 Abrahams (they are lighter). I'd say the (wild guess here) BMP was about 15-20 tons, and the T-62 was about 35-40 tons.... Keep in mind the mud makes them "weigh more" due to the dragging resistance. Still the M1070 bobtail can easily pull these tanks bcuz of it low gear transmission. Like I said, it's a beast. I so want to buy one.... Here's something to think about. The M1070 tractor weighs about 20 tons, the trailer to pull the M1 tank weighs about 25 tons, and the M1 Abraham's tank with plow and combat load 75 tons. 120 tons. That's what this tractor's potential is like. We drove many missions like this thru Iraq, in 140F degree weather, and we even went thru steep climbs and descents in the mountains (outside of Mosul, Iraq).... It's not fast (max speed 48 mph), but it will haul heavy loads.

There are two schools of thought on off road recovery: relatively lightweight recovery vehicle that uses kinetic energy to "pop" a vehicle up and out trailer included - then the heavy way with an over-the-top Oshkosh recovery vehicle doing a very slow drag of the stuck vehicle and trailer separately. Given the size and stuckness of this RV the heavy way won today.

Good recovery. I would have set the CTIS on "Mud, Snow & Ice", transfer in low, tranny in low and feathered the throttle as needed. I drove the HET M1070 & M1000 tractor/trailer combo in Iraq back in 2003/2004. My unit logged in over 2.2 MILLION mission miles. We hauled everything heavy armored like the M1 Abrams MBT (combat loaded), the M88 tracked armored maintenance recovery vehicle, and a whole lot more. I like how you repositioned the 55K lb winches to the rear. I also see you have the NBC hoses still in place in the back of the inside cab. They are to hook up to your protective mask, using the vehicle's filtration system while driving in a NBC environment. Love the HET and miss driving it. The cable hanging down just behind you is to turn your bask seat in to a double sleeping bunk. After releasing the back rest, you pull it up to the cable and loop it around the bolt. Good luck on your many adventures and keep it safe👍😎

A MORR (Matts off road recovery) and Sparks colab, is hella needed. Two top teir tuggers in the state.

Once MORR gets their heavy wrecker up and running that would be very cool. Matt does way more technical recoveries.

@@sundancer3700 Calm down white knight. Pretty sure Matt has recovered several RV's (trailer still attached) with his junk that doesn't need a whole production crew and their diaper bags to pull out.

@@sundancer3700 He pulled out a bus that big with the banana before. I don't think he would fail on this job but yeah their leagues are different. This was way too easy for heavy d.

I enjoyed your video and the lack of made up drama of the other shows. I had driven a heavy recovery Pete rotator but mostly righting semis or flat hauling to a repair facility. But I appreciate your off road work as that's where I started out at pulling stuck 'buggies' out of swamps. That was with a 'homebuilt' truck . 71 Ford cab International travel all frame Dana 70 rear with Detroit locker and a 60 with same locker in front Chevy 350 with remote trans. All steel bed 3/8" on 20" wheels 9:00x20's all around and duals of course on the rears . we didn't have the flotation you do but had screwed tires to rims with onboard compressor when things got sandy also had chains if needed . gets pretty mucky in places here in Florida. But great videos and you have a new subscriber. Thanks again . We had a 'big' wrecker that we'd built to pull shrimp boat winches in off Siesta Kay that would hold its own but we'd chock and use the main winch for most recovery work. Pulled a FP&L Zelligson Derrick on it's frame almost two hundred yards until it had enough traction to pull on it'd own ten wheel drive ..brought back some good memories

My only thought on this recovery is (without knowing the load of that trailer) wouldn't it have been better for the trailer to lower it down so it was riding on both axles after it was out of the ruts?
@miguellloret97732 жыл бұрын
I thought that too, then i realised it was surely empty, so if it can hold the weight of one of two side by sides it can probabli be pulled empty riding on one axle. Hope this helped, and excuse any error on my english (I' m form Spain).
@RaymondSigar2 жыл бұрын
I assume that trailer is the garage for one of the car, and the car unloaded
