That is an American shad. Very boney but good smoked and canned. The reel goes on the bottom of the rod and you can put the handle on the other side.

Your rod was upside down, best to get wet when out panning in the California heat, I used to bring a little bottle just for river water.

Great video Misha, you should fly fish. Try the evening fish on a cooler night for trout, You can get an inexpensive rod and dry fly, Dan Brent

Good day to you and God bless you Misha! Love the video, absolutely wonderful hike in, prospecting/fishing trip ... While you're standing out there in the heat you should probably wet down your clothes and make it more enjoyable, makes for a wonderful cooling system on the go. A good sun hat, preferably with a cooling system that you can get wet in any old stream to Steve off heat stroke is a good idea. I use an Arctic air hat as it reflects the heat away from me, as do many prospectors that I know. All in all the video was great! And I enjoyed every minute and may well watch it again, until then, safe prospecting to you Misha, and you have a blessed day. ✨⛏️🤠👍🌞

@@MishaBoylan Oh, by the way, as I have just learned from my nephew, if you get a waterproof cover for your phone, like the ones rafters use you can dip your phone in the water to keep it cool and be able to record more with it. He uses a fish streamer so that he will not forget it in the water.

Who is "they" when you say they have the water down quite a bit.
@harveyhueth36364 ай бұрын
@@neptune4167 Father, son and Holy Spirit, for it is they who bring the clouds which bring the rain, which bring the floods and in turn bring the placer gold down so that we prospectors can go play in the water mud and dirt and muck in order to glimpse the stuff and maybe find a picker or two. LOL

Kokanee fresh water salmon. If I’m correct the meat is pink. But usually really cold water fish. But that’s my guess.

I think somone said shad. I've caught kokanee before and they usually turn red when they spawn and don't until November
