Mowing the patterns are great. Now They just need one that's big enough to do 4 - 4.5" HOC. I got TTTF, and in the summer I'd end up with just a brown lawn or a high water bill at 2.5" lol.

I tried to read through the comments and I didn't see any mention of this (sorry if I missed it)... if you want the alternating patterns, use the customize function and you can change the lines in 10 degree increments. Hopefully a future firmware update will make it a bit easier, but I use this as a work-around for now.

With the original front tires on the Luba 5000. In KZbin reviews they stated when the mower turns it does a tank style turn and tears up the lawn. I have seen KZbin reviews that state Mammotion sent updates to the program, and now the Luba 5000 makes 3-point Y turns and does not tear up the lawn. The problem was totally resolved. It this true.

Love this thing!! I can see how the cost is not as prohibitive as people are commenting. Considering the cost of gas, mower maintenance with parts cost, plus a good riding mower starts at around $3,000, I’m sold! My only concern is about theft. How do you keep it from getting stolen out of your yard? 🤔

I love cutting my lawn, it's my alone time, it's exercise, it's satisfying. I wouldn't want to give that all up to a $4000 robot mower that's not going to do as good of a job as I would. That being said it looks about as good as the others tbh

Wow amazing how technology is moving so fast. My main barrier to entry on these robo mowers was burying a cable/wire around my perimeter of the lawn. Next barrier to entry is price. I paid $3,500 for a Samsung DLP TV in 2004 and those eventually came dow to hundreds of dollars, now they don’t make them anymore. When I can get a quality robo mower for under $1k, I’m all in

You forgot one highlight of auto-mowers. If you keep your lawn cut daily or every other day, you can fight back many weeds that require the taller height to survive. My Zenith Zoysia lawn can be cut as low as 0.75 inches which would kill a LOT of weeds that herbicides haven't taken out. And if you have some nutsedge or other grassy weed that is hidden in there, with the constant mowing, you'll never see them. At that height, it may even push back clover. I've looked at automated mowers in the past and they were all perimeter wire driven and that's a PITA feature, so this GPS driven mower is a nice version. My dogs are off leash in the fenced in back yard so making a hole in the fence isn't an option for automatically moving from front to back, but carrying it by hand to avoid mowing my 10,000 sq. ft. back yard is worth it. I'm not sure I'll love the price, but I definitely love the technological advancements since the last I looked into these mowers. You also didn't cover if this could mow in the rain, or if cool season grasses will cause clumping. I doubt rain or clumping would matter with constant mowing as it didn't with the older models. I'm assuming mowing Zoysia would reduce the service life between sharpening or changing blades due to the grass density.

Hi! You are my favorite lawn person to follow! I need some advice and while it’s of a different topic, I’m putting my question here and hopefully you see it and have time to respond. I’ll try to be brief: I’m in northern New England and my yard was decimated by grubs this year. I planned to be super proactive about my yard but then I spent the entire spring trying to deal with my grub issue and reseeding the bald patches. The weeds were opportunistic and now my yard is mostly just weed. We’ve also been hammered with rain for several weeks and the soil will not dry out. My question is, by the time we get a break in the rain it will be late June. My plan was to use post emergents to kill as many weeds as possible and then dethatch my yard because the thatch is extreme. After dethatching I was wondering I’m I’m too late to lay down a pre-emergent given it will be quite warm here in a few weeks? I will also need to continue trying to reseed a good portion of my yard in the fall but I understand that’s when I should be putting down peemergent for best outcomes. I’m new to this, hope you can help!
@pestandlawnginja
@pestandlawnginja Жыл бұрын
If you have tttf or ryegrass you’ll be fine to seed over the summer. As for pre emergents they get dramatically less effective the closer the ground temps reach 75 degrees and above. Hope that helps. We commonly don’t use pre emergents when the daytime temps get above 85 degrees or above for the rest of the summer. And as they come down in the fall we resume

My challenge with tall fescue that we have in the north is unless you have sufficient updraft from the mower blades, the grass doesn't get cut long and instead falls over. Any thoughts?
@pestandlawnginja
@pestandlawnginja Жыл бұрын
I didn’t get enough time to test in directly on fescue. If you set the height of cut at 2.8” or so I still believe the blades of the grass will be rigid enough. I was cutting ryegrass, which commonly is very flaccid, at 3” down to 2.8” without issues. Given tall fescue is commonly more rigid than ryegrass I think it would be fine
@baxt1412
@baxt1412 Жыл бұрын
Likewise I would also imagine possibly using a rotary mower to get HoC slightly below the height you want for your fescue will get it more upright and then setting this robot to the height you want it to ultimately be at and I’d imagine it will only take off millimeters at a time and stay upright especially if mowing 3-7 times per week

Is your gate smart/connected? You can use IFTTT to connect them, potentially. I have a side garage door with access to the backyard and a front garage door with access to the front yard, so I plan on using homeassistant - not exactly sure how the mower integration will work yet but the idea is "When the backyard is finished, open garage doors, pathway to the front yard, close garage doors" - then when the transition finishes for the front yard zones, it'll return back to the garage and park. If those kind of detailed triggers don't work, then defaulting to "If Luba is active, open garage doors" and then close them upon luba finishing/charging.

Love this question. I’ve thought a lot about it. If I had never had one it would be a hard no because of d never understand the value. There’s so much freedom not mowing. Here’s the deal. If I was already paying a service to mow my lawn I’d by one. Worst case scenario it craps out two years and one day , out of warranty🙃. At that it’s paid for itself. For those that have a mower and you like the mower you have and mowing every week. You’re out 30min to 1 hour of your life. 30 mows per season if you’re weekly mowing. If you’re like me I’m mowing 5 days per week or 150 mows. Cumulatively saves a lot of time. Cut quality is decent. Maintenance so far has been low and it works as it should. I’m very practice but also a huge tight wide. If I had a lawn mower on the way out I’d buy it. Price of a new mower ranges for $400 for something ok not great and $1200 plus for something great. Considering the cost of fuel, oil, blade changes etc for the next year that’s where the pragmatic side of me says….. ok it probably worth it. If I have a lawn mower that I enjoy, which I do, this makes it tough. I enjoy mowing and I enjoy the striping. It’s like man who makes fire 🔥 🤣. Cost of maintenance, gas, sharpening blades over an entire season might be $300-500. Worst case in two years $1000 if you have some serious issues. So to add $2000 on top of that….. tough question. You’d need to be in love with technology and wanting to free up time
