Hi Moose, yes this is quite a mysterious glitch. Basically what happens is that when you specifically use chiron to find Medusa and Arkantos to find the lions, then when the Medusa petrified the hydras all while not using any god powers, the game begins a loop sequence where it stops right before sending any wave, the game keeps thinking you still hadn't reached the ram and then the sequence starts/stops again until you reach the final bit of ram health where the game force sends a final wave, so in conclusion I have made all this up I have no idea why it happens but congrats on getting the record and can't wait for your egyptian videos!

I watched your video and previous WR by Joeybadz side by side and checked triggers in scenario editor and arrived at a conclusion that no glitch happened and you get the same waves as he does (minus one Chimera). There were 3 main reasons why you were faster: 1. When you destroyed bottom boulder the two Chimeras run away towards the ram where they were quickly killed by medusas. In Joey's speedrun he fights with them using Arkantos, Ajax and Centaurs which loses him time. 2. Joey didn't grab the Nemean Lion. 3. Joey stopped his second hoplites reinforcement to fight some random Manticore. (it was actually Manticore from the begining of the game but it wasn't killed because it run away chasing Chiron, in your speedrun you killed it at the beginning). Because they were slowed down Centaurs from that reinforcement aggroed extra Chimera, which your Centaurs missed. (that's why I said "minus one Chimera" earlier) + some minor optimisations like not idling your armies. Overall this speedrun is far from fully optimised. Here's some possible optimisations: 1. Boulder can be destroyed before 2 Chimeras and 5 hoplites army passes. Just tank units with heroes and kill boulder with Centaurs (it has 50% pierce armour), kill the units later. 2. You can send Centaur to get Nemean Lion instead of Arkantos and send Nemean Lion directly to the ram. It's not needed for destroying boulder. 3. Chiron can be sent immediately to grab Medusas. He's not needed for dealing with units. 4. Chimeras standing at the southern entrance to the ram area do not need to be aggroed. 5. Myth units in last attack should be tanked by heroes - Ajax and Chiron (Arkantos is needed for boosting troops) instead of Centaurs in the last large wave. Centaurs should kill villagers. + other minor optimisations. I tried speedrunning this mission implementing some of those optimisations and without much prior speedrunning experience I beat your record by 15 seconds (video on my channel). I'm not trying to brag here, just pointing out how unoptimised previous WRs have been. Overall my point is that there was no glitch, you just played better, this speedrun is not yet fully optimised.

Solid analysis right there! Maybe that was just it, it wasn't a very optimised run. Seemed like it must have been if the missions basically run and attack this one thing. All those small times not DPSing the ram really adds up!

Im really looking into getting into AoM, please make more guides on how to start playing the game from scratch. Like game comentaries where you go in depth about strategies and micro choices. AoM need someone like T90 is for aoe2 and you would be perfect! Your content is a bit nieche though.

I have an on going series of archaic builds for new players. The next few videos of that are in the works. I like to have varied content and speedrunning is something I’m interested in as well as multiplayer
