Rolling Stone is doomed to fall out of relevance. It can’t keep talking about classic rock forever, since that gets old, but anytime it tries to update itself on modern music, it a) isn’t as good at it as other newer publications and b) alienates its older users who scoff at new styles of music. It’s lose lose

@nikolademitri7312 жыл бұрын
@@naomilikayi5927 speaking more earlier on, it mattered to some hip hop artists for the same reason it mattered to some rock artists: it was an influential publication, it’s advertising, it helped sell records, there was at least some clout in it, and any little bit of all that doesn’t hurt. Not that there’s no other reasons, but the material reasons are what matter most, obviously. So why still care, given the magazine isn’t as relevant? I’d say it’s because of industry ties that still exist, that’d be my guess.. Just because it’s not as popular amongst the youths of today (or even my (millennial) generation), doesn’t mean those connections aren’t there. There’s still influence when there’s power and money in the mix, one way or another.

Crazy how Grammy and Rolling Stone recognition is supposed to be an achievement and yet have the worst takes in whats good in music. You can't unironically call CLB top 10 hip hop albums. You could find better shit on soundcloud Edit: Artists that didnt make the list: Slowthai, Peggy, Genesis Owusu, Nas, Injury Reserve, Westside Gunn, Baby Keem, Vince Staples, Brockhampton. But, we got CLB, an album from 2020, 2 compilations, and a bunch of albums that have 2 bangers and filler.

@ONTHEFLOW it aint even about that it's about showcasing artists. The Grammys are practically Michelin stars and theyre going to the McDonalds of music.
@aircatcher68912 жыл бұрын
@ONTHEFLOW exactly. Instead of showcasing artists who make high quality albums they showcase what's popular and an already established name. There are exceptions like Alfredo but thats my whole argument. There isn't a Michelin star type system for music; the best we got is the grammys. Rolling Stone also has huge weight. For some reason, objectiveness is lost and apparently comes down to "auto pilot" and completely discrediting an album but giving it a spot because of the artist's name. It's incredibly frustrating to have a year of music with numerous fantastic releases and somehow still have commercial artists reign these lists/nominations.

@@rashotcake6945 Honestly it's pretty disappointing to see this comment get so many likes. I know you likely mean well, but as a person with a disability, disabled people do, in fact, have sex and can sexually please their partners. This is a massive stereotype that is partially derived from the infantilization of disabled people- and this infantilization is often used to excuse taking the rights away from disabled people. Plus it simply isn't true that disabled people can't please women. I've known other women who have really enjoyed dating people with disabilities. For instance, one woman I know dated a guy with quadriplegia- and their sex life revolved around her mainly sitting on his face- if anything their sex life was more focused on her pleasure than it usually is with able-bodied men; and she preferred it that way. Once again, while I think you mean well, please do not speak for a community that you know nothing about. Especially when you aren't educated enough to be aware of the ableism that you yourself hold. Plus inserting (incorrect) complaints on joke comments really doesn't help disabled people- if you want to help, you should use that time and energy to fight against the abnormally high rates of SA that disabled people experience, or on changing the laws on conservatorships. Thanks
