1st row of 3: Red ribbon on the left with 3 stripes each end is Army good conduct award for 3 years of active service with exemplary behavior on or before 6/28/1941. center is WWII Victory medal the yellow with red, white, and blue stripes is an American Defense Medal for men who were on active service during a national emergency preceding our entry into war and is referred to as a "before Pearl Harbor" medal. 2nd row of 3: on the left, National Service Defense Medal center Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. Each star indicates how many campaigns they performed in. on the right: United Nations Service Ribbon for men who served between 6/27/50 to 7/27/54. The badge with the "US" on it looks like a Signal Branch insignia badge. Check the back to see if it has a torch and 2 crossed flags. These bages denote that the soldier is assigned to a particular area of service and qualified for that service. The blue and parch is upside down in your video. The center white stripe goes from upper right to lower left. It identifies a soldier in the 3rd infantry division class A. The 2 badges at the bottom I can't see clearly but I would guess they belong to the 2 Korean era soldiers. So we have an Army soldier who served in WWII AND because you have 2 UN service medals and 2 Korean Service medals I would say we have 2 different Korean War soldiers, a father in WWII and his 2 sons in Korea? If these were found in my home I would try to figure out who they belonged to and they would be displayed in a shadowbox with the info on the back, and I bet that would dispel some of the weird energy in the house.

My father was 3 I.D. served from mid 1942 to November 1945, 4 Invasions from North Africa to Southern France. When Korea started many 3 ID retreads were called up again before Inchon. The man who received those could have possibly served in 2 wars..

I remember when I looked at the front of the farm, and I thought he'll never clear that. It's not 100% cleared but you made major dent. Look what you have done. The addition are off. The new roof is on. The garden is growing. Wisteria is 80% or more gone. The Barn is gone. You put up fences and gates. You fixed the farm road, and fixed the drainage. Don't sell yourself short, you've done a helve job so far. Your also one man, so be happy with what you have done, and don't worry about the ones that question you about time.

It is most likely the room where folks passed away in. Just make sure you speak aloud that your intentions are good and that you have stepped in to save this beautiful home and save it. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, is really besides the point. You and others can feel the energy in the house, that room in particular. Everything was important to someone and respectfulness is the key.

I know how difficult the process is having gone through it with my grandparents and parents. You're forced to re-live the bad and the good, and maybe learn some things you never wanted to know. I can say that you're going to feel amazing when it's all done. Something tells me that when you're done with that one room, progress on everything else will be swift. Git 'er done!

“Those rooms” are the toughest ones. I found things I laughed about, things I was surprised about, some I cried about, and even one I was shocked about! Everyone should do things in their own time and way. It’s no one else’s business how you do these things, anyway. I just enjoy seeing the treasures! Watching videos like this encourages me to keep going on decluttering my house. I am in my 40's and recovering from being bed bound with a list of chronic health challenges. I'm still basically house bound and need lots of breaks in between working. Im not likely to die anytime soon but I also don't want to leave a big mess for whoever has to come after me and clean my house out. As the eldest female of my generation I have inherited many heirlooms from extended family including antique furniture and crockery (plates, teacups, serving platters, etc). I love to use them as often as I can. I have a lady who comes to help me for 2 hours a week. She helps with moving stuff around and getting bags or boxes of stuff out of the house to either the rubbish tip or to family, friends or charity. She also helps keep me focussed and gives me ideas of what I can work on while she isn't here to help me. We call it "homework". Having someone else to work with and to bounce ideas off makes it easier to make decisions. So far every time we have worked she has left with stuff to donate or to get rid of. We are about halfway thru the house now. Take the time you need to process the physical and mental/emotional weight of items. Don't rush and then regret it later. I suspect it's a bit overwhelming, but I so respect your decision to take your time sifting through the remnants of previous lives. Years back, poking around at a Great Aunt's home, I found a small brown bottle hidden in her well house. Inside was a receipt for sale of eggs and property with the money (over a hundred dollars) rolled up inside the old pink toilet paper. She didn't drive, so no telling what was hidden where. On a shelf in the only closet, I found my Granddaddy's slate school board.

Well this video is like a movie that had it all- it made me laugh and it made me cry a bit. It's always an inspiration to watch you tackle this project because you just put your head down and get it done. I struggle with feeling overwhelmed and then paralyzed by big projects like this (still cleaning out boxes plus a house for more than two years now myself.) And I agree with what you said about it being okay to touch things twice (or more). Anything that moves a project forward one step is a win in my book. I think with historically important things (generally or personally) you kind of need that time to see it, touch it, and then sit and think about what it might mean to you and how it needs to be handled. There is nothing worse than the regret of tossing something in a moment of feeling overwhelmed by what to do and later realizing you acted too quickly. I have a couple of things I regret losing that way. Also, you are funny and my goodness you are tactile! Like an idiot, I'm yelling at my TV, "Don't even THINK about putting that in your mouth!" and genuinely not being sure if you are going to do it or not! smh lol

The green pottery bowl is called orange grove or orange tree...........orange something. My grandmother had a pair which were given to her as a wedding present in 1930. Good find.

Robert, rather glad it is raining outside for you to be once more cleaning out a room of your OBF, and honestly see a lot of potencial in this room once it is cleaned out. Would be so neat to save a large or even a 5 x 7 piece of that wallpaper and frame it, to remind you of what was there. Some of the walls, sadly look like they will have to be taken down and sheet rocked. I see things outta the box, as you do Robert, I see what it was and what it could be again, I see, like the vintage clothing, things to be saved and reused, i see a bunch of papers in the corner, that again could be family treasures and memories to keep. When I see videos of that house I'm reminded of my grandparents' house in Ocean County, NJ (which was actually nothing like that house). My grandfather and his first wife had bought in 1922 and he built a thriving poultry farm on the property. The chickens were sold out in the late 50s and then my grandfather concentrated on produce only. My grandmother came into the picture in 1938, as grandpop's second wife. They moved out in 1988 and the farm was sold. But the buyer only wanted it for the land. So the house and all the buildings were leveled. It was so sad. The house was in excellent condition inside and out. It was said to have been built in 1900.

I completely understand how you feel about the need to go through everything and not just shovel it all into a dumpster. I inherited my Mom's house after she passed which she had inherited from her parent's. I had, at least, 3 generation's worth of stuff to go through. Three outbuildings, an attic, three closets, and 5 dressers and chests to go through of clothes, papers, pictures, tools, furniture, kitchenware, memorabilia, and memories. It's hard as hell. Especially when you have to do it all alone. Then, my Dad passed and my step-Mom sent me a box of his stuff,. When my great aunt passed away, she left me all of her pictures, so there was another treasure-trove to go through. You just have to take your time. Don't let anyone push you to hurry, even yourself. It'll take as long as it takes. I wish you well.

Robert, if I was in your situation and the house was part of my family /history, would be doing exactly carefully going through and not worrying about it being messy , as they are memories, you're learning about your family, they might be personal in some cases and a mystery to you , however they meant something to those family gone , it's deeply personal, having to sort through, much like losing a parent and having to clear there house , I have a lot of respect and love in all you do Robert including finding the lost or forgotten cemeteries, be yourself, I have a deep passion for history past and ones that went before us , especially ancestors, don't change for nobody Robert 😎👍

I would have to go through everything too. You never know what history you will find or treasures. Plus some of that old stuff like the bed, may be original to the farm and should remain there. Even if it's not original it fits in with the age of the house. Same with some of the old decorations/nick knacks. Oh my gosh Robert, you made my back hurt watching you with that table. That basket looks more like a purse. It's kind of small for a picnic basket I think. It's really pretty. I agree. You can't rush these things if you want it done right. You have done so so much already. It's a huge difference from when you first got it and now. It's getting there.

Robert, my dad and his siblings have been cleaning out my grandmother's home. She is 97 and can no longer live by herself. In cleaning out her house they discovered that she had never thrown out hardly any clothes and had so many vintage things that were able to be sold. The nice thing though is they were sold to an organization that does sell the clothes but all of the profits go to help homeless mothers and women. It is possible to have those clothes cleaned and used in that purpose if no one wants them. There are many organizations like this. Regarding ghosts...I lived in a house that was haunted. I didn't believe in it till I was faced with it. I saw it. I was physically pulled from bed. Pictures were moved. It was so bad. Unreal stuff happened. There is good and evil in this world. I moved, btw. Fast as I could! Love your history in your house!

I don’t believe in ghosts either but I do believe spiritual entities, both good and bad, can be felt and sensed by some people and that rooms, areas, etc can give off a “feel.” I remember years ago my husband and I both went into a little shop and, as we usually do, we split up to look at things that interest us but within a few minutes he was by my side. I knew why. I asked him if he felt it and he said he did and we left. We both felt a strong warning to leave and we did.
