Hey there, hope you enjoyed this one! Not a lot of planning went into this which honestly, I think worked well in the end. You just brought back so many memories. Back in the S3 days I actually got a knock off one that actually had Android (Gingerbread). I think it was around 40-50 USD around that time and it absolutely demolished other phones in the same price range (Galaxy Ace, some Minis of the S series, etc.). The build quality was kind of the same (but it had interchangeable backs, one with the screen cover and one without. And the face buttons were capacitive) and it came with angry birds preinstalled for some reason (which would explain the Angry Birds and Android sticker in the video). It didn't say Samsung anywhere, instead it proudly displayed Android everywhere you would expect a Samsung logo. It had some kind of themes app that let you choose that awful Samsung Theme even with the water droplets.

On the subject of what i want to see ... . Interesting, exotic gadgets (does not necessarily need to be phones - but since you are into phones, that will do, too) Strange phones .. early bent Samsung phones or Nokia pureview (i think the 808) You could also do normal cameras or ebay/used market finds - to be honest, i find it interesting to see what people on the other side of the world (you) think of stuff. - Whats also fun to watch is frankensteining stuff together (your old phones, or your razer phone) - maybe you can mod some stuff together - build your own "welcome device" out of the various boards and pieces that you must have.

It wasn't actually built from the ground up. The OS is a part of J2ME-based operating systems which was widely available in China. OEMs can buy its hardware along with OS firmware, and make a custom OS based on it.

Very nice video, something that I noticed on the (fake) battery says "Montado na Finland", but if it was real Portuguese it would be "Montado na Finlândia" The original battery says "Montado na China", and China is China in Portuguese, so it is correct hahaha I guess they either thought in Brazil we don't translate the country names or most likely just don't care, specially considering the rest of the device hahaha

One of my neighbour kid used to have similar phone. The OS is the same as this one. She used to request me into installing various J2ME games and apps. It did run very well on that era, including some games, even though not many titles that can work with touch screen (it does not have virtual buttons). The phone has very junk build quality so it died very soon after she bought it (8 months IIRC) and she got Android phone after that. I can say the software is not half bad considering 2G on that time in my country was still widely available, and mobile data is darn cheap ($0.3 for 2 hours) and data size (including apps) was not very large, plus you can just download games from your PC, throw them to SD card, put it in the phone, and just run it without any install. Modern Android phones don't even allow you to do that.
@nathanlamaire2 жыл бұрын
Side note on Wi-Fi, it does work, but requires another menu which is somehow not in the settings menu. Guessing the firmware just sideload the Wi-Fi driver as another userland module thus it cannot be put inside the OS itself, considering its firmware isn't designed to be used with Wi-Fi already.
