I guess there's also the sneaky variant WaP (yes, with a blank A), threatening AnUS on the left of it (which would actually yield a better final score than starting with WAP) and of course SUrA on the right if it's blocked.

Ooh! Great find! Could've easily been the difference maker if Andy's deficit were just a bit larger. This theme is not as rare as you think -- check out this video if you haven't yet! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGLHonl_oNKJh7c

Andy and I were hall mates at a resident high school we went to. The first day, everyone knew who Andy was because he was the kid who had been on Jimmy Kimmel. Soon after we got there, Andy posted the list of two letter words scrabble words on our bathroom mirror, expecting us to memorize them. Love ya Andy!!

does anyone have ideas on why quackle missed this? i know it tends to have trouble with Q-sticks on occasion but this seems like it should be totally seeable!
@axcertypo8 ай бұрын
it doesn't generate enough plays in endgames that contain one or two blanks. There are just too many options to look at exhaustively, since each branch (or candidate move) creates an exponentially larger game tree to follow. Currently our best engines can solve this endgame, but it takes a very very long time, far longer than the maximum time Championship Player can run an endgame, so that it can exhaustively search for plays.

Andy is a beast. He doesn’t regularly win tourneys on accident.

4:39 Can't Steve actually block SLAWS pretty easily with UPON? Obviously it means he forgoes AXION, but hey, a block is a block!
@mackmeller8 ай бұрын
Very true, it's not too hard to see though that any play with UPON will easily lead to Andy winning

I was thinking of S(LA)P at E1 setting up WAUls 12A thinking that would be unblocked. Loses by 5…

I love these videos. I've got an idea for a modified tile Scrabble variant that might be a fun video. 100 blanks...! Obviously you could bingo a lot, and that would be the only way to score. but every time...? It would be interesting to see which bingo words you would use to offer fewest hooks etc..

Quackle crashes above 39 blanks

That's a shame what do you think would be the best opening bingo with 7 blanks? Assuming 100 blanks bag?
@marksmith29758 ай бұрын
What about replacing the most commonly occurring tiles in the Scrabble bag with 39 blanks. That would do justice to the kind of game that I would suggesting above..

@@marksmith2975 If player 1 is trying to win the game, the opening play needs to *contain* V's, to prevent 2 letter hooks, so something like REVOLVE would prevent player 2 from even having a chance to lock the board down. Player 1 will always be able to create a new line, and player 2 will be forced to be one step behind forever. The game probably still just ends in a 350-350 tie, but player 1 would at least have a chance.

Thanks so much! And great idea -- unfortunately as has been pointed out below the max allowed by Quackle is 39 blanks, but I'll see what else I can come up with. In the meantime you might enjoy this one if you haven't seen it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKbbnZWqq8aaj68

Challenge idea: is it possible tp cknstruct a board where 2 blanks cannot outplay in one turn?
@mackmeller8 ай бұрын
Ooh interesting... I'm positive it's possible to get blank-stuck with a single blank (this happened once back in the day, it's in Everything Scrabble I think) but 2 blanks is a lot tougher. Might have to try!
