So if I buy a file from an artist and print it, prep and paint it I can't sell it if I wanted? If I buy something shouldn't I be able to do as I please? The artist set a price and I accepted and paid. It's like if I bought a limited edition mug for instance, I didn't design or make it but I can sell it if I wanted. Just curious
@randallnicholas18482 жыл бұрын
Amazingly Awesome!!! You should serialize each one of these you sell. And sign them of course.

That was a specific requirement from the sculptor not to put any numbers and or signature on the model for this one.

@@Groundeffected that is understandable. However, once you paint the sculpture, it is also your art, so it is also sad. Maybe you can collab with another artist to produce a line of fan art, with both names. 🤔 still Love this piece and my hat is off to both artists.

The sad irony is that now the only place you can get this file is from the very parasites who caused the sculptor to throw in the towel in the first place. Turn around, MJ! 🤣 As sad as it is to see the artist pull his STLs, I can totally understand. Seen it so many times, especially on Etsy. And nobody seems to give a 💩 about it 😕
@Groundeffected2 жыл бұрын
It sucks so much and some of these dudes are so cool but just getting shafted. And butt heads are out trying to find the cheapest they can find the files. Irritates me
@DavidRelich2 жыл бұрын
@@Groundeffected Think this is why Megha (VX Labs) went the fundrazr way to simply get his pile of cash before he releases the files, and a lot later he adds them onto his website as well. When we chatted a couple months ago, he mentioned he found a way to somehow 'watermark' the STLs. Each of the backers get their model with a unique watermark so it's easy to find out who leaked the file/sells the file in violation of his T&Cs, and then he just bans them from further sales (plus he only sells to verified Facebook accounts). According to him, he managed to keep his Agent Carter STLs from leaking for quite some time... I wish there was more that could be done to protect those files from all those Etsy a**holes!
@pival8012 жыл бұрын
@@DavidRelich if they're doing the identification thing by remeshing the model with a unique key, then that can easily be undone by remeshing it another time. So that's not really a solution, it'd just keep some people from getting away with it until they find out.

@@pival801 Most of the Etsy sellers don't have a bloody clue. Hell, most of them don't even bother removing watermarks from the photos!

I get that stealing the sculpt is bad. That being said let's be completely honest it's not a original character Design. The character is a character licensed by either Sony or Marvel and more than likely the sculptor didn't get the permission to make this model and sell it. They were making money off another company's IP.
@Groundeffected Жыл бұрын
I mean if the artist doesn’t want to sell his work we can’t make him sell it by telling him it’s not his ip. It’s still his efforts to make the final product so his work didn’t magically get evaporated because he used someone else’s character description. It’s just how it is can’t really do much about it.
