We had a similar thing with our cat: she would take the seat no matter if anyone is there, ESPECIALLY if someone was already using the chair. My knees were covered in fur 90% of the time I was in home but it was totally worth it

I definitely agree. I have owned three cats, and I now have another one. I did find that they did not like it if I disturbed them when they were in their territory. They preferred to come to me when and if they wanted my attention. Very true for the majority of cats.

I kinda doubt this is what that is. In reality the cat was simply spooked by a touch to the most sensitive spot they barely have touched - the very lower back. Touch any cat there, even if it sees you and it'll try to stop you. Touching it there out of the blue will naturally elicit an angry response. Aside from that cats can absolutely be a little pissy if you try to move them from a spot they nestled in, but since none of those attempts aside from the intimate surprise poke are shown here, I kinda figure this is just edited to fit the title.

My little dear had a habit of taking my spot whenever I left my seat for a time. Not always, but it happened a good number of times. At any rate, it happened enough for her to recognise most communication and contact was a bad sign that I was going to shift her. Best part is, whenever she was shifted off the chair, all that hiss-and-hassle dissolved into willing return when I tapped on the spare space on the chair (her spot), signalling her that she was welcome.
