Hi Merlin. I think the best part of this series was the back story. The rest of it was good but that story was the icing on the cake. Hard to predict what Mr. Craig would want but sinking the boat for the use by the various law enforcement departments, to help save people in the future is a good guess.

30 years or so ago I watched a boat sink on Lake Pleasant. We were night fishing with 2 boats and the boat that sank had a few slow leaks and the bilge pump would keep up with clearing the water. We're talking a few gallons of water an hour (maybe more) type of leak (it wan not my boat...). The pump worked until it didn't and once the boat owner realized the bilge quit it was too late. He tried to make it back to the docks but the boat wasn't having it. I got up along side of him and he threw all his fishing gear into my boat and watched the boat go down, stern first. It was actual pretty cool watching that. The next day we came back out and the recovery barge at the lake brought the boat back up....another cool sight. It wound up costing him way way more than what the boat was worth but it had to come out of the lake. Watching that roach abandon ship was hilarious lol.

I started my dive ticket when I was young (I wish I had completed it) I can't imagine being paid to do that kind of thing, but I certainly know there is a serious side to what the divers do! Oh! being in Australia & going against you tubes ads, I don't see any ads (thank goodness!) Anyway, thankyou for putting the series of videos together, it certainly made for something different & enjoyable! (I can't believe how long it took to sink, but air honestly has some powerful lift) Cheers!

Great video! Which I could have been involved. Been in the dive industry for over 30 years. Raised my share of boats, never sunk one. That thing could use some ballast. Chief Craig sure did not want that thing to sink on him! I chuckled a little when the 1000# bags were referred to as the big ones. I have a 2000# subsalv bag as the backdrop behind my desk. I refer to it as the manageable one. Anything bigger is obnoxious. I used to have a 10,000#’r but I rented it out and they blew it up. If that boat drifts to the wrong place it’s easy enough to move. Rig it so the lift bags are 5’ underwater, tow to correct location and drop it back down. It’s how we move 10,000# moring blocks

I know you don't do many off-road recoveries but the ropes your cousin sells and used over at Fab Rats are the exact ropes you guys should have used to tug that boat off the dock. Those ropes are the work horse on tug boats which is where they got the idea to use them for off-road recovery. Rather than being so ridged they stretch and absorb all that energy just like a rubber band, and then release the energy, pulling back just like a rubber band. Perfect for that job.
