Your my favorite reviewer as usual. I only care about real world comparisons. Same loft, lie and length with same shaft. That is first class! I keep buying irons only to sell them and go back to my hogan pro forged cavity backs. Last ones I tried were callaway apex pro and think the x100 shafts were too much for me.

Feel is all personal. The boys at TXG said the P770 felt extremely soft but here it feels “clicky” due to the hollow body design.

Cobra seems to be taking the right steps to compete with the big boys in the irons market.
@justinstephenson93604 жыл бұрын
Performance wise they are very similar although even with the limited number of shots it seems the P770 was more consistent. Ideally you would need to hit 20 shots with each to have enough data to be statistically significant. On looks I agree with Martin Korsrud, the back of the Cobra is hideous every square inch seems to have some branding stamped on it...it is very "shouty". The only way I could put the Cobras in the bag is if I put head covers over them. At address it looks nice. As for the P770s I have tested these on a demo day when I was not swinging well - they were very nice, easy to hit, a little longer than my i210s but at the expense of a little less spin but that could have been the shaft

I’ve been playing some SGI irons (the Callaway Big Bertha irons). I’ve been playing them well, although can’t say I love the feel. My handicap has come in from an 18 to a 12 this season. I’m intrigued by the Cobra King Tours, but not sure if I’m good enough for them. Prior to the Big Berthas, I’ve been primarily a Ping player (G15s and I3s).

Did you mention price? If you did I missed that. I know the TM’s are what $1100-$1200 dollars? Also what is that blue arrow on the ferrule of the TM? Never saw one of those before! That Cobra Iron looks good at address and performs well but I just cannot get past that “King tour” logo plastered all over it! The TM’s on the other hand have a very attractive smooth classic look but cost a ton.

I’ve played both of these clubs and I thought the Cobra won by a long shot. The p770 was harsh feeling and I seemed to never hit the sweet spot, even when I hit the sweet spot. The Cobras were like butter. Even when I didn’t get a perfect strike, they felt great all the time. The only thing I don’t like about the Cobra is that you can’t get them adjusted. I’d love to see how they would play if they could be bent 2* strong, but that’s just me. The new Cobra Tours are 100% forged, so it appears that Cobra ditched the MIM idea. Anyway, I recommend the Cobra MIM Tour and you can get these second hand for dirt cheap. Overall excellent iron.

One thing i see is the dispersion in the TM is better than the cobra in yardage , also the TM would be easier to keep clean , I changed to a set of Callaway apex pro and they are a pain in the ass to clean and I see a little rust starting to form in the cavity , pisses me off , will take a look at the 770 when lock down opens up again even tho the apex is a fantastic iron

Forged face I think.
@canyonaro4 жыл бұрын
Feel is mostly sound. TM's "speedfoam" is there to deaden the sound & make it sound closer to a forged iron. These low-handicap/pro reviewers obsessed with "forged feel" are nuts IMHO & this comes from a longtime Mizuno player who's been a single digit since age 14. Unless it's terrible sounding, I find bigger differences in sound/feel between golf balls and shafts than heads. Chrome Soft vs Pro V1x or TP5x is HUGE. So is the difference between a graphite shaft (softest feel) and Project X (hardest feel). I really think reviewers lead people astray with this focus. Choose based on performance, part of which is confidence. After years of playing blades I wanted more help and made an expensive mistake buying MP-20 HMB. They look gorgeous in the bag but the satin finish simply didn't suit my eye at address & I played terribly with them. After a year I gave up and dumped them for Mavrik Pro, which is far less snooty set of irons but they feel good & they're small and chrome, which is the look I'm used to at address. I'd probably really like these Cobras too. P770/790 look great in the bag but I need that chrome framing the face area. Hit them both poorly in a fitting. Golf is weird that way.

I'm quite surprised to see the dispersion of those 2 clubs. If a pro like you has such unusual results, I can easily imagine what it would be for me... I'll keep my modest game improver irons, even if I'm able to play like Tiger Woods (at the 12th hole in the 4th round at Augusta, that goes without saying).

I would love new clubs every season or two, and I have 3 sets, but every time I make a change my handicap gets killed. So, back to my 18 year old Cleveland Tour clubs and hello to my 6 handicap. The clubs are dirty and scratched, but they hit long and straight. Wouldn't sell them for anything.

Taylormade irons... yuck. You can literally hear the clubhead resonate at impact. Once you play a true one piece forged iron, these hollow irons sound and feel awful. The spring like feeling off the face nearly made me vomit when trying them. solid CB type irons for life.

@@swingeasyguy cap don't have anything to do with it. Once you get used to playing pure forged irons, these hollow headed irons feel too hot and springy. @swingeasyguy2 жыл бұрын
@@nastynate9529 Interesting note: I read a review on golf digest; tested over 100 golfers (mid handicap to scratch) to see if they could tell which iron was forged vs a cast iron; I'm sure you've guessed: most could not tell the difference! I had a soft like butter set of Hogans but i had the same feeling with my old R11's.
@nastynate95292 жыл бұрын
@@swingeasyguy I find that interesting because I can always tell if a set is forged or not. The sound is a dead giveaway. What I am referring to is not just a forged feel, it is the hollow head 'springy' hot face performance I am referring to. It is quite a difference from solid forged. My little forged blades have a nice dull snap when I hit them, other clubs like the p790 have a loud crashy sound.

The P770 isn't a true forged iron. It's a forged face welded into a cast hollow body. The only hollow body that's really close to a full forging is the MP-20 HMB, where the whole face & neck are forged and the body & sole piece is welded to the back of it.
