Distance divided by 2 will give you the number of inches the putter stroke should be. You can find the number to divide by sitting a ball 10 feet from the cup, five inches back and forth will reach the cup, do this until you find how many inches. So, if you find that the stroke is 3 inches to reach 10 feet then you will be dividing by 3. Find the number for flat, downhill, uphill… Now you just need to learn to read the break.. Your Welcome.

Thank you soon much for these videos. There's a lot of good instructors on KZbin, BUT you sir have the closest methodology to how I was taught 30 years ago by one of the absolute best. Im not going to drop names. Im not even sure she's living anymore. Certainly shes not teaching anymore. But you teach the same habits she taught me to have. So good. We all need reminders and refreshers of the good habits when we haven't played in a while. I'm picking the game back up after several years of putting it down for one reason or another. Thank you very much for your instructions. If you were in Texas I'd be scheduling sessions with you.

I second guess the squaring of my club face. I address the ball and I find myself moving the butt of the club forward a little and I pull hook it and if I have it in the center of my stance I sometimes block it. They both be crisp hits but if I’m approaching the green at 150 I may block it and on a par 3 at 80 to 100 in. Im pulling it. It’s not every time but it happens. I really really appreciate the content. It like having a coach. I haven’t seen anyone be detailed as this. Thanks 🙏🏿 again

Great video, terrific instructor. I would add one thing... practice short game yardages at 15 yards, 30 yards (as Sensei teaches)....AND most importantly 55 yards... the statistical reasoning for 55 yard practice it the two lateral holes at Top Golf are 55 yards away and it is very difficult to score well and impress your friends at Top Golf if you can't nail that 55 yard shot (that shot determines birdie, bogey, or double all in one shot)... Thanks again for the instruction!! great video!

Missed a big piece of information on green reading by not addressing the fall line of a putt. Every green is designed with drainage in mind. Look for clues around the green such as drainage grates. Sometimes they are designed to drain between bunkers or from back to front. Knowing which way the water runs off of a green can give you great insight as to which way a putt will break or whether it is uphill or downhill. It has been proven by Putt Lab and AimPoint that if you aim for the apex of a breaking putt it will always miss low and run away from the hole. The aim point is not the apex. The aim point is above the apex so that the ball will roll through the apex when it starts to break.

Not sure about shiny vs dark to determine slope... I know down South, shiny is with the grain.. dark is against grain... Can usually look inside the cup... where side of hole grass is ragged is WITH the grain, or down grain... a putt will be faster with the, slower against the grain... and grain will also pull the ball left or right wheb a putt slows down

Only one thing I disagree with here. You said that when your eyes don’t agree with the line on your ball, you need to just overcome it. I disagree. This is where setup can fix that issue for you. Eyes directly over the ball doesn’t always agree with everybody. You can make subtle changes until the line on the ball DOES agree with your line of sight. I think this is VERY key for your confidence, and commitment to starting your ball online.
@edschwent163011 ай бұрын
I don’t disagree with you at all. My point was if the line on your ball does not look correct then your eyes are not in the correct place for most players. That’s the eyes directly over the target line. But others can be inside that line up to 2 inches But you need to find what is the correct placement for your eyes and use a marker on your mirror so you can get set up that way every time. Ed

Dont quite understand “shiny grass” ..if brighter is it uphill or downhill? Or visa versa ,duller equals down…etc? I was under the impression all vegetation more or less followed the sun or if lacking light it was just gravity that effected it..?

“Holing speed” is something I cant grasp.. my buddy always says dont leave any putt short ,and hes pretty good ..but his misses mean more two putts back to hole than my misses of being short by 1’ or less …im just more comfortable letting the green roll the ball so it sort of just falls in as apposed to pushing it in …I don’t know if i can change that , should i though?
@solvovivo10 ай бұрын
Agree with your initial post... Most greens are a bit grainy down South... Shiny = down grain= faster... dull (or matte) =against grain=slower... Also look at inside of hole...side of ragged grass = WITH grain, which will push or pull the putt... if ragged side is to left of your putt line, it'll try to move your putt left when it slows down... hope that helps...

Lousy green readers is laughable. You can get a book with the breaks. You have a lot of time to roll putts to very well marked pin locations. The reason why good players miss putts is A) confidence,B) mental side ( thoughts get in the way C) they are slightly open, their grip pressure is slightly different, B) the mental side should be number one. There's a lot of things confidence and being in flow state can do to make up for a slightly poor stroke

He's simply trying to get feedback from this group of guys that more than likely paid for this class to make sure they are understanding what he is talking about. He asks and looks at a decent number of the group, if he sees a bewildered look he can further teach and reassure that they are capable of learning and understanding what he is talking about.
