Regarding visa’s - a better option would be to get a ‘non O’ retirement visa along with a multi entry stamp. The visa is good for 15 months, and you can come and go from the country as you please. The cost through an agency will vary, but normally around 28,000 baht for the first year and half that for subsequent years. They will sort out the money and the 90 day reporting. If Thailand is to be your base while you take frequent trips abroad, this is by far the best option.

Eddie , a friend i met in Pattaya took me to 1st Class Visa on Soi 6 in the Queen Victoria Inn. The person to speak to is Pa. She speaks very good English. They have the best Visa Runs to Cambodia . The Visa Run to Cambodia , their vans have less seats than other Visa shops. They include breakfast and dinner on the day of the Visa Run @ Queen Victoria Inn. Of course they offer all the good assistance for Jomtien Immigration also. Well worth checking it out. Cheers from Canada. Take Care..

Towards the end of the video you answered the question in my mind which was why you didn't just get the 60 day tourist visa whilst still in the UK. Only 30 quid and no longer a requirement to send off your passport to the Thai consulate as it's now an E-visa. Couldn't be easier, got my E-visa within just a couple of days. I have experience of having to go to the Jomtien immigration office to get a 30 day extension and never again, it was a nightmare. I too on that occasion used an agent which I would recommend to anyone wishing to extend their stay.

The trick to dealing with Jomtien immigration is do it over two days. Do the picture and photocopy stuff one day and then come back the next morning. Makes it bearable.

I Went to the immigration with my Apartment contract photo & passport last June, I went very very late overslept from a heavy night arrived about 4pm went straight to the counter handed my documents to the operative in the new building on the right who filled in my forms & was told to go straight to the immigration officer in the main building paid my 1900b fee, then was told to return back to the new building waited a futher 1 hr my passport was handed back to me all stamped for another 30days !!, was well chuffed couldn't believe it. So it paid to go late where they help you to push things quickly

Or UdonThani etc. There are over 20 immigration offices around Thailand, not just Pattaya and Bangkok and the vast majority take no time. Google for offices and services at each one.

The visa agents I talked to all told me about the requirement to go to Immigration first thing, but they also said it would be quick. Not sure why you are acting like you are surprised by any of it. As long as you go early it's not a big deal getting the extension done yourself. I was in and out in about an hour but I was there right when it opened.

Eddy what happens after 90 days? you have to leave the country and come back and start the whole process again. Can’t you get a long stay retirement visa. In Indonesia we get 1 year visa then that changes to 5 year visa. I go in every 5 years for a new stamp, only takes about 1 hour

Watched Welsh Boy’s latest. He said in Pattaya a few places are packing them in but overall there had been an exodus of Tourists & numbers way down. He also said there are a few gems but overall the BG quality is awful & they are still asking for silly money. The Eastern Economic Corridor is going surround Pattaya with a lot of middle class Thais & the speed train which is now scheduled to be operational in 2027 will do Bangkok to Pattaya in under 1.5 hours. So I expect Pattaya to do what it has always done & adapt to provide the services the visitor demographics want.

That's wrong. 1 year retirement visa extension or application is $170 (I think, if you do it yourself at the main office near Phnom Penh Airport, and you need all the paperwork competed) or use an agent and it's $270 to $300 and they do it all for you. I know some expats do it themselves. I prefer an agent as the immigration office is ok but if any little thing is missing it delays the process or they ask for extra money to fix the problem. If you use and agent it takes about 4 days to get your passport back. I just paid $310 as I use the same guy every year and he also scans the passport photo for the application. But first you need to enter on a $35 one month ordinary visa (not the cheaper $30 tourist visa). You cannot get a retirement visa before entry. Both types of 30 day visas are available on arrival at any of the 3 international airports - but the tourist visa cannot be extended to a retirement visa. You need to be over 55 years old, have 6 months passport validity (post visa expiry, so 18 months on application) and tell them you have funds to support yourself but that's just in the letter the agent writes for you. They don't ask for evidence, bank details, etc. Also you need the FPCS app print out from your accommodation to show your address. Can be a hotel, land lord, spouse, etc. Depends where you are staying. That's easy to do by way of a screenshot on Messenger which you send to the agent on Messenger, takes 15 seconds to do. For me that's a great thing about Cambodia that the visa renewal process is quite straight forward for a 1 year multiple entry visa but the other visa classes (employment, business, student) do obviously require more paperwork.

It is really easy to extend the visa at Hua Hin. Helpful staff at Bluport immigration. Done it twice and each time only takes 15 minutes. 1,900 baht each time. Not sure why the Jomtien office is so much hassle?

I got agent to do me extra 30 day visa, 1 - paid her the fee, got photo on soi buakhaow,and went to immigration in jomtien, shown to front of the desk and handed in passport and photo, got taxi back to Pattaya in the time it took the driver to turn around !!! Simple and totally stress free, used the agent in the maleez lodge hotel reception area . Passport delivered back to hotel next day all juiced up for another 30 days 😊

Hahaha... I've literally been through the same process only a few days ago Eddie! The visa I mean! Lol I paid my money. I was told to go back to the visa office on Pattaya Klang in a couple of hours. Only to be told when I returned that I had to go to jomtien on a scooter to have my photo taken and to sign papers. It took around 20 mins in the office. You get a queue jump for the money you pay. And I paid the same as you Ed. So I don't feel so ripped off now. I refused the lift back from the scooter girl and went straight for a beer in jomtien after the days trauma 🥲

Welcome to life in Thailand, 555! Consider an Extension of stay (Retirement Visa) with a multiple entry if you want to base your self in Thailand. An agent can sort it out, no need for 800k in the bank, wink wink. The Philippines is also an easy place to stay with out leaving the country for up to 36 months. Maybe Cambodia? Thailand can't stand prosperity- reference to making the immigration process easy for qualified people wanting to stay long term :)

I did it two days ago, extend for 30 days with an agent, and was simple, agent take me in his motorbike and bring me to immigration to take photograph, we only spend in immigration 3 or 4 minutes, and then agent told me to come back next day to his office, to pick the passport back.
