Chemo can be combined with radiation therapy but chemotherapy has trouble passing the blood brain barrier. One option is to implant medicated wafers directly into the brain. With radiation therapy there are 4 different options. Whole brain, which is usually palliative. 3D conformal, IMRT and Stereotactic. Side effects will mostly depend on the location of the tumor bed (optic chiasm and brainstem are critical structures), additional margin and dose to be delivered. Just some things you can ask about..

Wish you all the best for your decision and speedy recovery. It takes a lot of courage to vlog about your condition . That courage will help you beat the disease . If I were in your position I think I would go with the chemo . I wish my dad had done the chemo .

Radiotherapy probably won't have many side effects on your head. I had Radiotherapy on my throat. It caused me pain on swallowing but bearable. It really depends where you have it but as it's your head should not be too many side effects. Giving you a six week course is a low dose but longer period. But the cumulative effects will be the same amount. The units are called greys, and you can only have a certain amount. The objective is to interrupted the cell division cycle of remaining tumor and destroy its dna so it can no longer reproduce cancer cells. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi Eddy, I can't tell you what or which is better as I am not so informed on the subject. But what might be helpful is if you type in either glioblastoma (or GBM) survivor stories; or glioblastoma survivor success stories; or GBM long term survival into the KZbin search box, a whole tonne of videos come up about GBM patients like you who have survived and how they cope. It might help give you hope. Also, some UK doctor posted a comment describing specific exercises you can do yourself in bed, ie squeezing a tennis ball and lots of really helpful stuff that will help you to recover faster. Do those exercises while you watch those videos Eddy. I look forward to seeing your next chapter back in Thailand! Fingers crossed!

New treatments for glioblastoma, including immunotherapy. A small trial reported by the University of California at Los Angeles in early 2019 found that patients with recurrent glioblastoma who were given the checkpoint inhibitor Keytruda® prior to surgery lived, on average, 417 days. That’s longer than the average survival rate of 228 days. Five percent of people lived more than five years. Keep on fighting mate.

So these are your options, Ed? Nasty intrusive therapy and then die, or no nasty intrusive therapy, and then die? It's hard to say what I would do if i was in your shoes, but from here, I think I know. Good luck, and God bless you, whatever choice you make.

Your cancer was removed and now if possible you should leave the hospital and have a electric wheelchair to move around. start a ( very low carb diet ) eat plenty of meat. whole fish .Bacon eggs. cheese. butter. cream stay away from vegtables and fruit and tinned foods. like a carnivor diet get out and about away from this hospital. Exercise when possible.Fresh air etc etc. Dont Give Up. Chemo weakens you and kills your health cells and remember your cancer is out and you have to keep any cancer cell from growing back. carbs feed cancer so stop the carbs and eat High fat diet you will lose weight but will be healthier.

My wife had a form of radiation therapy for here AVM(yes not cancer but same process and it was 100% effective for her). It works very well focusing on what they are trying target. I've seen it used for comfort care, just to help lessen the growth rate of the cancer, it won't eradicate it , but will help.

I am not going to preach on this (do your own research). Cancers number on love = sugar (50 ways of hiding this in processed food). My aunt had terminal cancel and was resigned to it. However she went on prolonged water fast, just adding a bit of salt to water in morning. She awaited death, as did doctors. However, she basically starved the bastarx disease cells. Five years later and she's doing great. She did the fast whilst undertaking chemo. Bet the hospital give you coco pops and carbs galore. Your charge, the human body can heal if given a chance.

Hi Eddie, the important part of this is that you have had a successful operation to remove the tumour, the radiotherapy fractions should mop up and cancerous cells remaining after the op. Try to recuperate post treatment and get back to Thailand as soon as you feel able to.

This is my view having gone through BOTH chemo & radiotherapy for my throat only last year 7 weeks every day being clamped to a table with a face mask. The chemo therapy is like mopping up cancer cells that could cause problem later to promote another growth & works together with radiotherapy, so if this is the case for you, then GO FOR THE CHEMO, on the doctors advice. Preventative care is better that dealing with the outcome! The Radiotherapy is to zap cancer cells & avoid harming living tissue. so what i believe is the case, is that this is not needed if there are no cancer cells there as you say they have removed the cancer already, so this would only be needed if the cancer starts to reappear. Radiotherapy does not prevent future potential for cancer growth to come back.! If the cancer starts to reappear if or when you are in Thailand does this mean your mobility will be affected again? Nobody will be able to probably give you a straight yes or no on that. You need to assess how you can get by over there if this happens. For myself the cancer is gone & has not reappeared, I found the last weeks of radiotherapy tough going & the chemo , nothing to be concerned about if this helps you. All the Best Eddy.
