Oliver is meant to be 27 at this point - his gravestone says he was born in 1985. Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen, was 31 at the time... so, he's not that much older than the character.

I one hundred percent agree that especially in this first couple of episodes which I always assumed took place over maybe the course of a week they were all trying to rush Oliver to talk about what happened and pushing him to just go back to a normal life while simultaneously judging him for being irresponsible when he said that he wasn’t ready yet and judging him for being upset at them about the pressure of it all.

About your Batman-lite comment. On this show they often do use Oliver as a Batman surrogate (probably because they weren't allowed to make a Batman show). This includes making him darker than he usually is in the comics and also giving him several Batman villains or turning several of his villains into surrogates for Batman villains when they weren't in the comics.

Arrow was the second superhero TV show I watched after Smallville. From the pilot to the end, the show definitely has a lot of up and downs. Overall tho, well worth the journey. And I'm with you, Stephen Amell is a ridiculously attractive guy!

He did most of his stunts as i understand it. I actually met him at a convention years ago. Nice guy in person. He also inspired me to get into better physical condition (i wasn't unhealthy, but i wanted to be stronger; an arrow themed workout routine was also published around the time, it was pretty intense, pushups and situps to failure, box jumps, and pullups to failure).

That is Kelly Ann Hu playing Chien Na Wei (China White) head of the Chinese Triad in Starling City. She also played the Sorceress/Clairvoyant in the Scorpion King movie starring Dwayne Johnson. As well as Lady Deathstrike in X2: X-Men United. There will definitely be more flashbacks. 5 years is a lot of backstory to ignore. So they will slowly be filling in the gaps. It just makes you want to know more. Excellent writing in this first season. 😅

That’s also partly bc how he got his powers is some of the most ridiculous shit I’ve ever heard compared to Oliver, who just like Batman, just trained, maybe did some psychedelics, etc. how flash gets his powers & mom dies I think it was? Sounds like something a child would come up w but hey wtf do Ik just giving my opinion as someone who knows basically nothing ab the dcu bedsides batman & the Justice league as a kid & now arrow & flash. Even how captain marvel got her powers made more sense thwn what a particle collider or something caused the weather, to which he is then struck by lightning & all of a sudden super fast. With the DC CW Shows; Smallville started it all. They originally wanted the Green Arrow from that show to have a spin-off, but the studio just decided to make it a completely separate continuity/universe, which created the Arrowverse. I'd say it's unfortunate how some of these shows get lumped in with everything else. You'll see, "Oh the CW? All those shows are trash." It's funny because somehow the first 2 seasons of each superhero DC show on the CW was amazing from the Arrowverse. -Arrow -Flash -Superman and Lois (All seasons have been great) -Star Girl (From what I've heard, it was good, and I think only had 2 seasons) -Legends of Tomorrow (Supergirl and Batwoman were trash start to finish, so I'm not including them in the great seasons category) Then Season 3 of all of them (minus the exceptions already named) were ok, then season 4 onward was just garbage. (Mainly Flash and Legends, they never recovered) However, Arrow, even though it dipped in quality around season 3 and 4, it quickly bounced back after that, and overall was still great. (Also, Constantine, which only had 1 season, which he was later put into the Arrowverse, his show was on a different network, but was amazing, please ya'll gotta watch Constantine!)

As much as I love this show, it's more of a mixture of Batman's and Green Arrow's, Characters, Stories, and Tone. So some of the best parts about Green Arrow you won't find in this show.

This is a pretty good show, but it's not a great depiction of Green Arrow. Like you said, very Batman-lite, whereas Green Arrow is a much more campy kind of character, more comedic. Which is why Justin Hartley is the superior Green Arrow imo

Imo, a series is a series! And as long as it gets an end, it’s all one story! Ya might not enjoy some of it! But that’s bound to happen! All in all! Arrow is amazing! If I had to rank them myself! I’d have to say season 1, 2 and 8 are my favs 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are really good in there own way, they are different to the core of what we get in 1&2 but that doesn’t necessarily make it bad!

Season 5 was good, 6 was mid (the main story wasn’t good but the side stories and fights were awesome), the first few episodes of season 7 were great and season 8 was fantastic, way better final season than flash and supergirl If I had to rank all the seasons it would be 1/5/2 interchangeable 8 6 3/7 interchangeable 4

Some of the fights were badly choreographed but some of them were good, the villain (not gonna say spoilers) was charismatic and great in general. If you skip the soap opera stuff it’s a pretty okay and watchable season
