The reason Jasper went for Bella in new moon is because he wasn't just unexpectedly met with his own thirst but he was bombarded with not just the thirst of everyone else but also EDWARD'S. Because Edward's true thrist for her was so incredibly strong and was so intense all immediately at the exact same moment. THAT'S WHY ge flipped in new moon and why Edward blames HIMSELF for it. Because it WAS HIM who's emotions set Jasper off. Jasper was unexpectedly hit with the FULL force of 6 people's thirst AND Edward's immense thirst all at once. That's WHY it was so traumatising to Edward. It told him he was her biggest threat AND that she couldn't even be safe with him around his family. So there was NO chance of making it work AND keeping her human. He couldn't have her around him safely, he couldn't be around hwr around his family and rely on theid help to keep her safe and he couldn't imagine turning her. So there just WASN'T ANY other option for him but leave. And TRY to be strong enough to protect her life by staying away. He didn't realise that it was already done. Her fate had been decided. And if he left her she died. But if he stayed with her she died. She died either way and he couldn't face the realities of Alice's visions. The movies do an awful job explaining Edward's feelings about ending her life and both the books and movies don't do a very good job explaining Jasper and what his ability REALLY means. In the books he's not focused on often for nore rhan a few lines at a time, so people tend to not connect the dots or even really understand his character. I wish they gave his character a better explanation because hes actually SUPER helpful.

vampire lore. The concept of the vampires in twilight are completely different from what most people are used to. So like when they become a vampire their facial structure shifts in ways to make them like angels but also predators. And it's interesting because humans can revert to an animal type nature given the type of situation. Next their scent, voice and face attract people rather they like it or not. Which goes with what they're made of. Their body erupts into different kinds of material, ice, minerals and diamonds. It goes with the myth of why they can't go out into the sunlight, why they don't need to breathe, why they're so strong, and why they can pierce through skin without needing fangs. But here's the really interesting part, when they're torn apart they look like hollow dolls. It kinda symbolizes how dolls attract people and how beautiful they look. But the hollow part resembles their existence. Dolls never age, and their emotions are always beneath the surface. They don’t need to breathe, rest, or catch their breath. They only need blood for the cravings but their strength wouldn’t really deminesih without it. Kinda like kryptonians but with a bloodlust.

bella's depression. So in the book they mentioned that the vampires have this thing where sometimes they find their mate for life. Basically like they find their magical soul mate and are bound to them. It makes sense because vampires are frozen in time, usually in pain for eternity. So the only thing that would fill them is an eternity of love. The majority of the time they fall for another vampire who feels the same way . And they literally can't be apart from each other. It's love beyond comprehension. And it's rare that a human could be capable of this kind of love. This is actually what every member of the Cullen family went through, Alice with Jasper, Rosalie with Emmet and Carlisle with his wife. It's similar to how animals find their mate and when one of the partners gets ripped away from the other, they both feel agonizing pain. Thats why Edward and bella literally couldn't be apart from one another. If he hadn't come back they would've permanently been in unimaginable pain and never would've moved on because they are fated to be together.

It's notable how Jasper was a Confederate soldier because of how the Southern Gothic genre influenced American horror. It criticizes the romanticization of the Antebellum South and how people hide the social, familial, and racial suppression going on. The problem is that Twilight never really engages with this in any meaningful way. Vampires have been used as shorthand for "other" groups of people. That's what a lot of European vampire lit did (think Dracula). That's how we got the Southern Gothic genre in American lit. But again, in Twilight's case, it's not really explored. It's just Jasper was a Confederate soldier and whatever.

Also although Bella is supernatural she is human so it is possible to have feelings the regular way. So she can fall in love the normal way. So she unknowingly falls for Jacob the human wav. But she didn't know. In the new moon she thought it was a crush and didn't think that it wasn't possible because she already found her eternal soulmate. And in that moment that she got mad at Edward about Jacob Edward realized she did love him. Bella had to kiss Jacob because the wolves have an issue with their emotions that can get them killed. Jacob was mad because he thought he still had a chance with Bella and Bella kissed him because she had to show that she actually did have feelings for him at one point. Bella and Edward were ok with the whole Jacob love thing because it made sense of how it happened on the new moon. Because Edward left for the new moon, which led to Bella unknowingly falling for Jacob. But both Bella and Edward know that it doesn't compare to the soulmate love that they have

Next Edward Cullen analysis. Right off the back u can tell he is antisocial and shy. And he was probably like this when he was human. Becoming a vampire makes it difficult because you're in a new body with new impulses that could lead to destruction and no one can really stop you. So he has to have constant self control. Kinda like your kryptonian but with a bloodlust. And everyone wants to be around him because they're drawn to him. But because he can read minds he can probably find out what they're thinking to find ways to tell them to get lost. But because of what he is he's always alone. Even in his family he's alone in the beginning because everyone has someone except for him. So when he finds Bella, yes he's happy but a piece of him is hoping that she'll leave because he doesn't want her to feel the misery of being a vampire. Like even though he knows he'll never drink her blood because of how much self control he has over himself more than other vampires, he still makes jokes about it because a tiny piece of him is hoping that she'll leave.
