for everyone wondering how mercy wasn't considered "on the objective" when dva turned after the round was over, it's precisely bc the round was over before mercy started the rez, and she just got back from spawn so she didn't touch the cart before the timer got to 0.0 even tho the game appeared to coontinue for a second after. really wish blizz would revert that bc it wasn't a thing in ow1 but now it fucks up touch timings so much :[

play mystery heroes! it's a great way to get a little taste of what all the heroes feel like without the pressure of a full proper match. then you can be like, oh, I like how X plays, maybe I'll mess around with them in quick play. don't put pressure on yourself or expect that you will magically play a different tank as well as you play dva. yes, a lot of skills will transfer over, but each hero has their own play style and unique decisionmaking, so it will take time to learn! but that's okay. it's okay to learn new stuff. before you can be kinda good at something, you first have to be bad at it, and that's okay.

The problem with top 500 advice… is it seems like top 500 players that compare these games to top 500, are assuming everyone is playing as a unit… just doesn’t happen lol I didn’t start seeing value in these tips until like diamond level play.. Up until then, you just have to get good at the game, carry your games, and hope to get to diamond.

You're not completely wrong. It's still best to provide advice applicable to later. You can learn a lot of bad habits just trying to climb through your own solo play.

I don't understand what you mean by top 500 advice. target priority, positioning, cooldown management, knowing how to play your hero alongside all the other heroes (knowing how to help your teammates out based on what they're playing), etc., are all part of "getting good" at the game like you said. diamond is where higher level teamplay, like everyone knowing to hold high ground and how to hold it effectively, how to rotate as a team from an initial choke back to the next most defensible position, starts to happen consistently, i.e., almost every game. but it does happen in lower ranks. and here's why it's important: say you are an emongg enjoyer and you're in silver. you see one of your teammates is a high ground Harry. instead of being a low ground Larry like the rest of your team, you join high ground harry because you, too, understand the value of high ground. now your team has a better high ground presence which gives your team a significant advantage. but if you didn't pay attention to the "top 500" advice, you might leave your teammate to die because you think they're a feeder because they're playing away from the rest of the team or something.

@@sethescope the constant mentioning of “make sure your team is this or that” These people do need to work on aim, aiming is a big deal when trying to climb. Let’s be real, most of these streamers played with friends to climb and get good…. Now they can start all over solo and get it GM.. These newer players need to position well, aim well, etc (solo carry) most these people we watch have terrible aim…. Not climbing with terrible aim.

@@TREVANDTHECREWgaming so here's what you have to understand about overwatch: aim isn't the most important skill. it's important, but just grinding aim training for hours and hours isn't enough. it's a team game. teamwork matters in every single game at every single rank. even if your main strength is your aim, understanding how to use that aim to help your team is valuable. it actually makes positioning more intuitive. if you have good aim, taking an off angle to pressure the enemy is how you help your team, for example. if you ignore the team-based nature of the game, eventually you will hit a wall and be unable to climb further. again, this isn't to say that aim isn't an important skill. if you play an aim intensive hero and never work on your aim, you will eventually hit a wall too. also, I don't know about you, but I enjoy helping my teammates. I think it's fun. it's why I play this game. It doesn't matter if I'm on support, which is my main role, or the others. the game is fun for me because everything can - and should - be understood through the lens of teamwork. when I watch emongg's videos, I want to hear about the things I can do to help my team because that's where the fun is for me and it's what motivates me to work on stuff like aim which I find absolutely mind numbingly boring. it's okay if you find fun in a different way, but I just can't imagine seeing the team-based advice as superfluous or unimportant just because someone is in a lower rank. I know some people on KZbin don't like to read long comments, so if you need a summary, lmk.

Keep in mind, mercy's first ability allows her to swoop in, so unless Emongg were to go back and see that the mercy was already there she most likely used her flying ability to get to the moira just a second too late

it can definitely feel that way - until/unless you're the one playing Mercy and that 1.75 seconds ends up feeling like a decade and a half sometimes lol same with the GA cool down. you mess it up and that 1.5-2 seconds it takes to come back so you can escape feels like it takes six months lol
