This bendy bone rig is the best when you set it as a parent for a lattice. And the lattice can control a greasepencil object. *it's way easier than parenting gp to individual bones via vertex groups.

Live saver! I had a mesh that I needed to alter it during my animation and this is the exact solution I was looking for. And for anyone, whose armature may not work, as in case of mine, you have to make sure your bendy bone is scaled down (encapsulated) inside you target object. Otherwise you might have auto weight paint error on bones.

Hi. I realize it has been a year since you uploaded this video. So i hope you are still reading and and be able to answer my question. I tried to attach external objects to the Flexible bone rig in the way you usual would do with a regular bone rig. Not that hard 😁. How ever. This results for the attached object to deform along with the rest which in the case of my intended animation is undesirable. Can you give me a tip how to get around this issue? Thanks.

Connect two bendy bones?
@theapexsurvivor95382 ай бұрын
@@dariozanze4929 yeah, I'm looking at making a worm using this and will probably just make each ring segment a single one of these and just parent them together (comes with the benefits of being able to make procedural lengths and easier customisation if I want to have more species). Definitely treat these as basically a single bone and just use multiple when you need more control, and just cut down the number of segments if you Really need the performance savings.

Question. I'm planning on adding a head onto this rig and was just wondering how I would do it
@theapexsurvivor95382 ай бұрын
Fairly new to rigging, so I might be wrong but its should be fairly simple, just depends on Exactly how you want it to control it. You can either just leave it as is and make your head the child of the end(top) node; or you can set up a more rigid skeleton that's used for controlling the b. bone, in which case you'd make the control bone and base bone children of whatever is at the base of the tube, then make the end bone either a direct child of the control bone, or the child the control bone's child (the former is easier to work with but might be less controllable that you'd like if you want the head moving around in lots of awkward ways) and make the head's base bone a child of the same bone. All options should be about equally janky, it's mostly just a matter of how much control you want over them and what makes sense to you.

7:18 Do you know why I get the message of "Bone Heat Weighting: failed to find solution for one or more bones"? I don't know what I did wrong when I followed everything to the T 😭 Oh... apparently by scaling the model and armature to x1000 times and applying that scale and then doing the automated weight painting again solved the problem for me. I don't know why but then I scaled everything down to what it should be and now everything is perfect 🤨

Just a quick question. See the settings for this leg/bone/tool, is it possible to keep from stretching
@theapexsurvivor95382 ай бұрын
Hmmmm, I think you'd need some form of secondary rig to constrain the end to a set distance from the base, same as if you need to constrain the angles it can bend to.

Not being able to scale the nub on a mid-bone you are using as the bendy section is driving me up the wall. I only need/want (for my project) three bones, a base, a top/controller, and the bendy section. But my target object is a "concrete bollard" with dimensions like 3.5in on the x and y and something like 42 inches long, and the final mid-bone nub looks like an overinflated basketball that blocks the view of my controller bone. I tried creating the bones on a smaller scale and then scaling the whole thing, and it just repeats the problem, and I'm at my wit's end.
@phlipclip50974 ай бұрын
I tried recreating your problem as I had it as well. Once he creates the armature, he does into Edit mode before scaling it. Then you use G to move the nub down. Then create the extension. After that he scales. If you scaled before that, it gives you a weird oval tail bone.
