Only 4K views? Rigging is so underrated. Having a technical knowledge is way more valuable than getting flashy results in 10 minutes like other "tutorials" do. Thank you for sharing this with us, absolutely amazing!

Tangent handles! in every BB tutorials I`ve watched were used absolute handles, therefore there is no fast way to bend the bone with start handle. Unless you use tangent handle! Thank you man for this)

I wanted to animate a blob. if your set up is 4 steps, i managed to get to come up with step 1. and was ready to accept it's limits. but now i don't have to. this is exactly what i needed. thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you very much very instructive and useful! I have two questions may i ask? What model do you suggest for attaching this rig to (i'm making arms and legs for a cartoon character)? A curve with hook, a curve turned to mesh or a cylinder mesh? My second question is why are the bones axes different than the world's? Thank you again👍
@richstubbsanimation
@richstubbsanimation 3 ай бұрын
Glad you liked it! A cylinder mesh would work fine for this. As for the orientation, the bones aren't oriented to the world axis so that's why they do not match. Aligning the control bones to the bones makes it easier when creating the constraints.

@@richstubbsanimation Thanks for your answer! I started with a cylinder but it didn't work fine at first. Then i spotted a problem within the setup with a parenting lacking the "keep offset" option (wich i'm still confuse when to use or not). It works fine now that's perfect for my arms and limb! I tried to apply it to a curve but it doesn't work fine. I'll try with a non bendy setup as i have to keep the curve for animation purpose. Thanks again!

@@richstubbsanimation Hello again! I'm calling again because i've been stuck and i'm out of ideas.. I'm trying to scale my armature and i can't find a way to do so. Is there a way to apply scale or is it unnecessary? Thanks!

Why is this so complicated to make a bendy stick? Couldn't there be a preset bendy bone or something, that you don't have to make a complicated setup with drivers and shit for something this simple?
@richstubbsanimation
@richstubbsanimation 3 ай бұрын
This is a more advanced set up. You could follow the first half of the video to create the normal bendy bone rig.

You mentioned how, but you never really mention why. I want extra control in my limbs to warp and stretch based on camera angle as movie rigs do, which is why i came here. But why you keep duplicating the bendy bones and making multiple? What one do you weight paint to? Whats the use for the other ones in the exact same position? I honestly have a lot more questions than i came here with xP
@richstubbsanimation
@richstubbsanimation 5 ай бұрын
This set up is a more advanced set up to just using regular bendy bones. This set up allows you to move and adjust volume across a mesh, while still having the ability to move two bones. Think of it as an arm or a leg set up. For skinning, you would skin the last set of two bones to the mesh. The first bone is used as a driver, and the rest as controls. You can download the project files for free if you want to take a deeper dive into the entire set up, hope that helps
