zebgorah48 yes, that was my thought. He shouldn’t have taken it to the track and everything else when they just said they were about gone.
@406Steven7 жыл бұрын
You really should do a full inspection before and after hitting the track. Fluids, tires, brakes, even just looking for any body parts that may have come loose (those plastic clips that hold everything together get damaged and things like to drag). With steel rotors it's not uncommon to even replace rotors after a track event due to heat cracking, nobody ever said racing was cheap!

Fails to maintain Lambo, complains when shit breaks..... Typical
@rand261006 жыл бұрын
In the 1950s Ferruccio Elio Arturo Lamborghini had many complaints about his Ferrari, among them that Ferrari charged ten times as much for a replacement rubber washer as Lamborghini's tractor factory, even though it was the IDENTICAL washer. Enzo Ferrari replied (among other things) that if Lamborghini thought it was easy to construct a world-class sports car, he should attempt to do so himself. The rest is history. Lamborghini produced a world-class sports car himself. But perhaps Ferrari had the last laugh, because now Lamborghini charges more for his parts than they are worth, just like Ferrari.

Where do you upgrade your brakes from carbon ceramics? They're 7000 grand a rotor, what possibly more do you need? This isn't a economy class car like a honda civic. The brakes, suspension and chassis on cars of this caliber are over engineered comparatively to the power. A extra 200 horse power won't upset the rest of the car. The issue is lack of maintenance as he mentioned. You should never take a car to a track day with significantly worn brake pads. He learned a simple lesson, a expensive one. Fortunately the car is safe and intact.

not a carbon ceramic rotor. its not made of metal but is a carbon composite. Even a steel rotor on this level of vehicle would be dangerous to resurface as they build them to be replaced at the same time as the pads. this is because rotors are rotating mass and it takes horsepower to get them up to speed. i believe the number i heard was every 1 pound of rotating mass you remove equates to 10 hp.

very difficult to resurface a drilled rotor. The brake lathe runs a small cutting bit across the rotor that cuts into the surface. when that small cutting bit comes into one of the drilled holes it can either chip the edge of the hole and damage the rotor or chip the cutting bit.

Yes you can a precision surface grinder would do it , but the two things you need to consider first is 1 the minimum thickness requirement and 2 do you think having 1 thinner than its partner would be wise on such a vehicle as after grinding it its going to be quite a bit thinner.

Not to mention, I am quite certain you have been toying pretty hard with that thing. Which is good, it is meant to be driven hard, but you obviously failed at preventative maintenance. Then, you go and put a car on a track, to attempt some hot laps, again, without preparing the car. Expensive lesson in car prep. Take some lessons from NASCAR, Indy, F1, etc. New brakes on every set of hot laps.

The brake pads AND FLUID should be new and only used for 1 to 2 sessions or weekends and should be inspected BEFORE each lapping session. I worked on a 1996 Callaway Impala SS with a LT1 Supernatural Engine had 2 piece Cast Iron and Aluminium Brembo Rotors and that Time Cost $3000 for the Pair and $400 for front pads so Ceramic Rotors Sounds Correct Play with Big Boys need Deep Wallet

So is he not gonna replace the caliper? That's pretty uneven brake wear especially for a super car that has really precisely made parts.

Wearing a 30k+ sports gold Rolex, driving a Lambo over 20k miles without checking breakpads while constantly accelerating and breaking for videos, whining about the cost to fix. I'm so sorry 4 ya brah, tell me more aboiut your merch...

Its not down the drain, you drive the vehicle long enough like Parker does and things WILL BREAK. It aint a matter of IF but WHEN. And Murphy's law says WHEN will happen at the worst and most unexpected time.

That plastic piece is an OEM AIR DUCT (air conveyor) for the rear wheel well of a LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO LP640...passenger side. Now where is my free T-shirt dammit!

I replaced my brake pads recently. They cost me in TOYOTA £48 for one axle. I wanted original parts for my old Corolla thats why was so expensive :) (Euro car parts past are £28). I spend less buying my nice car than you on one servicing yours. e you can afford it.

Underground racing then not based in the States? Judging by 1320's video, there's a 2500 HP Huracan ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3-Znqt_d5irb5I )I think there are perhaps more beaten Lambo's in the states...guessing they run the same brake set up than your car?
@kennethbutler13435 жыл бұрын
If the rear pads are toast you should check the brake bias...the fronts should always go first. You also use your brakes too much when you track the car; even a NASCAR couldn't stand the abuse on its brakes you seem to inflict on the Huracan. Racing is expensive, and when you combine the parts costs with a learning curve, it's VERY expensive. Good thing you have deep pockets.

$10,000 is nothing if you can afford a $5000-$6000 car payment a month or even better you payed cash.

Thanks for the video. Now I feel better about replacing all my brakes and rotors drums etc. for under 500 with premium products.. At what youre paying I saved about 24,500 not having a lambo.

Next time you take your car to the track, BUY a set of RACE PADS!!!. Street pads do not last on the track. Change them when you get to the track and change them back when you get off. If you would've known to do that, you wouldn't have this problem. The difference between street and race pads are, Race Pads are made for repeated hard braking on the track at the sacrifice that they have to be warmed up to start working properly whereas street pads are made to stop you quickly without having to be warmed, but on the track, they don't last.

First rule of tuning and upping the performance of any car, sort the brakes out first!!! Also is you spend Over $100K on a car, why on earth are you not maintaining it correctly. You should never wait until the brake warning comes on to then change a component. You drive at high speed on public roads, what would have happened if that was a kid coming out infront of you and forcing you to do an emergancy stop with no brakes!!! Oh and having worked on alot of race cars, you always replace components in pairs side to side. You should replace both front discs so the braking system is balanced.

Yes you should have done a proper check before taking it to the track... But really; what should be happening is that, when the car has 6000 dollar rotors, it should be equipped with wear sensors at all 4. Some 35K dollar cars with 120 dollar steel rotors come with sensors at all 4.

How about make your next vehicle an audience pick. Set a price limit (3k or so. First car kinda shiz) and have the audience scour Craig's list, social media, and the rest of the internet for you. Then you can tinder swipe through the submissions, and eventually road trip to the car car; with the person who found it in the Lambo as a finders free.... Anyway, crowd source an affordable car and pummel it till it breaks and fix it. Might spend more time in the shop, but it'd sure be a lot of fun to ring out a four banger on the red line all day, and it would cost the same

I've heard of companies that offer carbon ceramic rotor resurfacing/refurbishing. Costs come down to a 1/4 of the OEM price. Could be something worth looking into the next time something like this happens to you or anybody else reading this.

Sheesh ride the brakes much.......then again knowing the lovely clutch issues of previous lambos Idk what would be worse engine braking by downshifting and rev matching or actually braking
@kotymccallister51506 жыл бұрын
And hey! How about this. You drove 22,000 miles. Just replace the pads every 18-20k miles. Ahead of schedule. Like, do it before the indicator comes on..
@mrlooneycooney89486 жыл бұрын
To be fairly honest ...when going to the tracks, no matter what car even, just give it new pads before going on the track. Never use already used ones. And by saying that...just have always new ones around when you're a frequent trackrunner. That's a lesson learned the hard way unfortunately, but hey, it's a learning curve ;-)

If the brake drums on my 1964 Land Rover looks like that, its not that big of a deal. The car is pretty maxed out at 50mph. But a Lamborghini? Thats a hole another deal. You made the right decision.
@zumwild6 жыл бұрын
My advice is never wait until the wear indicator comes on, for any car. Those indicators are needless expense. Pads are so cheap, and brake performance improves so much with new pads. Steel discs are an option for those who don't want to have to be so fussy. Another option is to have the carbon disk resurfaced by SICOM in Germany. They machine off the damage, and bond on a new carbon surface.
