@ReadIcculus93 so should Usyk have to defend it this week?
@ReadIcculus935 ай бұрын
@vacayooper4728 They dont force fighters to fight on that short of a turnaround, the issue is that the champion doesn't get to pick who he fights for the first title defense. If Usyk rematch Fury in his next bout, it would go against the assigned opponent the commission gave him, likely would be been Agit Kabayel, who just beat Frank Sanchez in May. Big Bang Zhang would also be another consideration just obliterating Wilder. But the IBF wouldn't put Usyk against Fury again, especially since Fury is more of a sideshow act than an active legit contender.
@ReadIcculus935 ай бұрын
@vacayooper4728 the other point to consider is that when a champion loses his belt, he must work his way back into contention. Boxing isn't a sport where they just give a former champion coming off a loss a title fight because he used to be good. They must work their way back up and prove they are still capable. If the IBF gave that first title shot immediately back to Fury, then how long do the current guys, ranked in the top 5, and coming off big wins, have to wait for their shot? We just gonna run this trilogy back right after Fury wins? Does that belt just get put into a tug o war contest for 2 year between 2 guys? Welcome to boxing... it ain't fair, but it's the way it is. Next man up.

The thing that puts Usy in a leave of his own is the fact he went up to the HW where there is no weight limit. In no lower divisions There is a plague of bigger guys dehydrating to squeez into tbe lower division to rehydrate and get unfair weight advantage. Haney is one of such boxers. They „box down” when they step up and Don’t have the weight advantage they loose (Haney vs Garcia). Usyk went up to thr HW and beat the top guys. He beat AJ twice and he beat Fury a guy who had a 6 inch hight advantage, 7 inch reach advantage, and was 385 pounds heavyer. In lower divisions when boxers move up they still have to make weight way more or less the same. Usyk not only faced a man with every posible physical advantage, but having the ref, judges and boxing mone interests against him. Crawford, Usyk and Inuoe in that order, although i can see why Usyk is favoured by some and I have no problem with that. The trouble with Canelo is the perceived favouritism he enjoys with the various belt organisations. They took the belt from Benavidez for missing weight by a few pounds (they could have fined him! ), practically gifting him the belt by making him fight Mathew Hatton. Mathew Hatton is the untalented brother of Ricky Hatton,who had achieved nothing of note in his career,and wasn’t even ranked, until he miraculously crept into the rankings at number ten a few weeks before the fight! He then continues to bully his way through a very light division, except for the one standout boxer that to this day even though Benavidez has been his mandatory for years now. The one duty of a champion is to fight your mandatory. Then theirs the issue of failed drugs test. I wish these things hadn’t happened, because i used to love watching him fight, he had speed ,movement and intelligence in the ring and for me, for a while he was P4P. But not anymore, he has no legs, because he doesn’t need to , his opponent do not have the power to hurt him and he knows it. He has become worse because he is fighting substandard opponents (Ryder?!…c’mon) For me, he shouldn’t be in the discussion about P4P.

How is Gervonta Davis not part of this ? How to ignore the jury scams seen nowadays compared to Pacman era ? Boxing is slowly coming back, money killed the sport since the end of Tyson's career. I blame part of it to the murderer Don King few people talk about

Canelo may not be the best, but he does take risks. Crawford hardly fights, and he is old.

Mayweather pioneered "the ducking" to save his belts and titles. He would retire just to duck his opponents or make up some excuse or some ridiculous contract not to fight them. HIs "defense" was just as a joke as his reign. He would not seek to knock his opponents out. He will only try to out score them and run around the ring looking for a decision which he would win anyway because of corrupt judges and referees. I've said this before and i'll say it again one day the future will know how much of a con artist was Mayweather and the future will realize that once they see boxers like Inoue Crawford and Usyk who actively chased the unification belts.
