Some things that may not immediately be obvious to consider for shield builds that want to draw ranged fire from allies: 1) Snipers can't hurt you behind the shield, but the sniper attack goes through you and will rail people who think they are safe behind you. 2) Regular ranged enemies who get taunted by the block talent will stop firing and close to melee if you break line of sight temporarily, so you can use this to draw them into a kill zone. 3) Heavy shooters and shotguns will not automatically swap to melee and pursue you if you break line of sight, they will continue to suppress your last shootable position. 4) Standing in the doorway to a room is less helpful than being to the side or outside the room off to one side, as your allies can't see through you and shooting through you is "iffy" at best, don't be a doorgryn. Suppression is also a cone in the area around heavy gunner attacks, so blocking right next to an ally still leaves them suppressed and makes shooting back difficult. As far as perks/blessings for the shield, they are extremely limited but you may want to consider at least having flak 25% damage as a perk, as the damage perks translate to more bleed damage per tick as well, which will help with maulers (who have flak body/carapace head only) and armored ragers. Carapace really only helps against crushers and they are extremely resistant to bleed and burn anyway. Cheers. Enjoy slabbing enemies.

Another great build! Keep in mind having block efficiency and stamina regen on your curios helps a ton. It isn't needed but helps free your perk slots for damage perks. Just something to keep in mind it isn't for everyone but has saved my buns a few times.

Brutish momentum isn't really a necessary skill on shield ogryn as you are rarely light attacking with the shield. I'd drop it for something else if you are able to, such as dominate or a toughness node.

If you mean Brutal Momentum you are dead wrong, it increases your horde clear immensely. Without it when you heavy shield punch a horde you will only do full damage to one of them, killing one and damaging the rest. With Brutal Momentum you will deal the full damage to more of the horde targets, killing as many as 4 in one attack.

@@JacobFrazer-ml7cu I'm not referring to the blessing. I'm referring to the skill by that name in the skill tree, which I thought was apparent from context. I agree the blessing brutal momentum is necessary. However if you check the last skill After the heavy hitter capstone (Brutish momentum), you'll see it allows you to keep the heavy hitter buff up from light attacks. This is something you rarely use with shield. Also it's worth noting this build goes out of its way to capitalise on heavy attacks, so taking this skill seems redundant. Now if you were taking the mark 4 cleaver or old latrine shovel which use a light attack, heavy attack combo for horde clear horizontal swings this would be appropriate as you are regularly weaving these attacks together and this would prevent the buff falling off with these weapons if you have gone the heavy hitter route.

And unstoppable is pretty useless too, the point would be better spent on toughness damage resist or get the rending on elite kill.

@@coultermoulton1663 Yeah that's what I suggested in my initial post. Personally I wouldn't take 'Too stubborn to die' or 'No stopping me either!', especially since the curios in this build do not seem to have much toughness regen on them. I'd probably rock 'Get stuck in' and 'Bruiser' to have your charge up more often. Allowing you to stack more bleeds on targets by charge cancelling and using the aoe bleed you get at the end of the charge with pulverise. Alternatively you could just use this to stagger more often or clear a path or charge down gunners as your stamina won't let you walk all the way up to it. However, I can see how this might be too aggressive for this build. But if I've learnt anything from Vermintide, generally speaking killing stuff faster is better than more defence in tide games.

I mean, with the stagger and bleed of the shield, you can 100% take on 5 crushers no problem, you can block an overhead no problem if need be and the stuns will render them harmless half the time.

Fyi plasma gun can shoot trough friendlies so its absolutely perfect with a slab ogryn or with several ogryns on the team.

Nice - Ogryn is the only one I havent levelled to 30 so this might just be the builds that spurs me on :) WoW I have no idea how dogs can down you with your shield up, whos stupid coding idea was that? lol

The reason dogs and nets go through the shield is prevent the game from being entirely trivial. Ogryn shield in the "planted defense mode" can literally infinitely block demons, bosses, dozens of ragers, maulers and crushers. Fire patches, dogs, and trappers are the only threats.

Definitely take the grenade launcher, it's better than the shotgun in every way except killing mutants but you picked rocks so your covered on them.
