Edit: Yeah, nah, I'm wrong. Keeping it unedited except for this line for context though. Sadly. unless they straight up change the interaction - slow start is placed on Regigas itself from the ability, so you can't remove it by changing the ability. I guess if you manage to change it's ability, switch out and switch back in you might have slow start removed from the big man but I'm almost pretty sure that didn't work in the past either. Which is why it was a big deal when Galarian Weezing could just suppress Slow Start to be one of the first things in the games to actually hinder Slow Start from kicking up. I'm obviously not 100% sure though, but the research I did when I was looking around told me that was the case with slow start.

@@VoermanIdiot Nah, if you use a move like Skill Swap you can get rid of Slow Start and have both the attack as well as speed return to normal, it just takes a lot of effort and most people will see the strat incoming; In the case shown in this video if the Slaking had switched out and back in, it would have Truant again as its ability. It’s just very restrictive in doubles a format thats already very restrictive to begin with. You end up committing 2 out of your 4 options, Incin/Amoonguss/Box art legendary being your 3rd depending on the format;

I feel like there are a lot of really interesting new setup options this gen... to name a few: -Possible to remove truant from slaking -Palafin's Zero to Hero -Dondozo + Tatsugiri -Skeledirge Torch Song (+ optional throat spray) -Quaquavel Aqua Step -Houndstone Last Respects -Kilowattrel Wind Power/tailwind combo -Scovillain has chlorophyl and STAB fire attacks in sun -The pokemon of ruin's auras -oh yeah and also getting to boost whatever stat you want on an already very powerful paradox mon with quark drive/protosynthesis -priority tailwind murkrow -terastelization in general and that's just off the top of my head. I think it's gonna be a fun meta

@@phazedkilledyou im partial to dancer teams so espathra baton pass into oricorio, revelation dance is like tera blast so you can tera defensively while also still getting tera stab for revelation dance for the other members run flamigo, volcarona (fiery dance and quiver dance are a must, and ququaval (aqua step obviously), the other spot is open but setting up tailwind would be good to insure that their dondozo never outspeeds you and another espathra option is to run speed boost calm mind baton pass and stored power, most dondozo teams are scared to open with dondozo just because you have espathra, so you can trick them by using a setup espathra instead of an opportunist espathra

Any strategy that enables Slaking is immediately interesting for me. Also, I've been playing around with Oricorio a bit and noticed that Revelation Dance changes its type to the Oricorio's tera type when terastallised. So you get a 90bp stab move of any type (I personally used tera grass on fire Oricorio for water and rock types)

I immediately saw the potential in this type of team and built my own before rentals starting coming out, but the only key differences are choice band on Slaking, Amoongus over Arboliva and Roaring Moon over Dragonite. The damage output Slaking can bring is insane. :)

Grafaiai gets some very good move to run with prankster. Other than the ones you showed Encore is great against the majority of status moves: trickroom, tailwind, protect, swordsdance etc. All the opponent can do is protect or switch. Copycat is neat because it can copy trickroom if no priority moves are used. Also substitute with priority is sometimes better than protect.

I think this team gets a lot better with paradox and ruinous quartet not being allowed. With them around their are just too many many that are immune. This combo is pretty decent at beating tatsudozo tho, getting unaware slaking slaps dozo around lol

So, I have been looking into this combo. A powerful thing you can do in showdown (I assume in game as well but haven't tested) is protect slaking and doodle. I found grafaiai to struggle after doodle if ignored so I prefer to have helping hand on him. If you want an attack on grafaiai he does get foul play, I don't remember if he gets super fang but if he does I would prefer that. With slaking I am tempted to run facade to counter people wil-o-wisping him. Not sure if I prefer clear amulet or life orb on slaking. I might even look at choice band (allows slaking to be somewhat useful without grafaiai). I wonder if eject button on grafaiai could be good, would require the limited availability fake out or faster priority dmg to interrupt doodle strats and without that grafaiai gets out of the way for a more threatening/useful mon

Flutter Mane and Iron Hands have paradox abilities as you discussed, the two Ruinous Treasure legendaries are dark type so immune to prankster, and Gholdengo's ability makes it straight up immune to status attacks doesn't it?

was doing some tests in showdown, with slaking, and went 252 att and hp, adamant nature. Moves were drain punch, rock slide, slack off and curse with ghost terra. First turn used curse as setup. Kept Normal typing and would setup until a fighting type user came in then went terra ghost. What I found was using curse after becoming a ghost type helped the team with any walls that may try to set up or counter Slaking. Plus so fun to use, people tend to forget that curse is a completely different move when your a ghost type, plus having slack off made survivability easier. I enable Slaking more by having trickroom and heal pulse after my Grafaiai either switched or went down.

I'm interesting in Ability Shield Grafaiai. Ability Shield is usually very bad but it DOES let Grafaiai keep Prankster, so if you don't want to Parting Shot them right away- wait, Parting Shot? But that's illegal? Regardless, if you don't want to switch out Grafaiai on the next turn, then you can keep them around immediately as a Prankster Pokemon and they can even Doodle multiple times with priority. 3:00 They also get Weather Ball but that's illegal for the same reason as Grafaiai Parting Shot, being that they have no transfer-less breeding partners to get the move from. Wait, Flutter Mane? But that's illegal? (I guess you're doing Smogon rules, which is how Parting Shot is technically legal, which I assume will be removed eventually) Wait, no you're... You're in the actual game but... It's 4v4 and you're allowed Flutter Mane? Did the pre-season have 4v4 as an option? wh- HOW DID YOU GET PARTING SHOT GRAFAIAI THEY CAN'T GET THAT WITHOUT ALOLAN PERSIAN Yeah I think Doodle just fails vs Disguise Yeah 26:40 Skill Swap works on Slaking, I've seen Opportunist Skill Swapped onto Slaking who Swaggered with Mirror Herb for +4 attack. But my Grafaiai is Prankster Encore sooo easy counterplay. 27:20 Yeah, my Grafaiai is half offensive and does pretty good, though when I use her for this strat it might be less successful due to ESpeed Dragonite because of the Attack EVs over the HP EVs. 30:20 Scovillain, weird name but I like it.

Very cool team. Looking back, your opponent had a near perfect lead in game 3, given the mons that they brought. Paradox/dark type lead to counter doodle/prankster, fire/dark typing to neutralize fairy/ghost damage from your flutter mane. Having their OWN flutter mane granted an offensive and defensive advantage against slaking, who mostly has fighting/normal coverage with sp. def being its lowest defensive stat. That late game Iron Hands and mimikyu combo is filthy though

The slaking keeps reminding me of a mmoment in my playthrough, when i found a wild ghost tera type Slaking, got him to low HP, and tried to catch him, but i was underleveled so his catch rate was low, and he eneded up dying because i forgot my pokemon had Rocky helmet. Hey Aaron. I'm pretty sure the reason protosynthesis doesn't show the boost in the status screen is because it is a permanent boost that can't be cleared with haze and the like. Kind of like how a choice scarf boost doesn't show the +1 either.

I'm pretty new to competitive pokemon. Would Air Balloon allow the use of prankster and other priority moves/ abilities in psychic terrain? Or is it still considered "grounded" with that item?

For the seeded RNG, snarl would always miss given that they used icy wind first. But since snarl has 95% acc it is guaranteed to hit if its the first accuracy check. It’s 90% and below that will always miss if they are the first acc check

Very cool team. Love seeing Grafaiai. Can see it having potential for sure. Now imagine if it could doodle a tatsugiri and get commander and have it jump into a dondozos mouth…I’m sure it doesn’t work but still funny to imagine. Any chance you would be interested in a offensive Maushold team?

Do you have to doodle turn one? Or can you doodle turn two before slaking makes his move? If so, I'd try scary face instead of rain dance for speed control turn one

You can doodle turn 2, but make sure not to use sucker punch on slaking! Its in a higher priority bracket than prankster, so slaking will go first and truant will activate. I learned this one the hard way lmao. As for rain dance, it wasn't showcased this video at all, but its super useful into the very popular torkoal trick room teams, as said during the team breakdown. Its been super useful for me and common, unfortunate that it didn't get to get showcased in the video though.
