I had the honor and privilege to play this song with him! I was in Wilson Pickett’s band and we opened for him at the Montreux Jazz festival. He invited all the players in the opening acts onstage to play this song. We each got to take a solo. It was one of the best times in my whole life!

The "thrill" of my life was sitting in the dressing room with him, conversing for about ten minutes back in '85. At the end of our chat, I got to run my finger across Lucille's strings while she sat on her stand next to my chair. I met him three more times over the years and he was quite possibly the nicest person I've ever met - humble and gracious almost to fault. And when you point out how he took down home blues and played it differently, a large part of the was the influence of Louis Jordan on B.B.

That was terrific Thom! Thanks for keeping BB's music and memory alive and well! I was lucky enough to have spent some time with him after a concert way back in the mid-80's. We just sat in his dressing room talking for a while. He was more interested wanting to know about me and what I was doing rather than focusing on himself. The nicest man that you would ever want to meet. Miss you BB! RIP

Excellent video Thom! I have a story. I saw BB King play live for the first time decades ago. The opening band had this guitar player shredding all over the fretboard. He had the chops but didn’t really move me. Then it was time for BB King to play. At this time he was playing sitting down. He walks on the stage with the band playing a vamp. Sits in his chair. Then his guitar is handed to him. He played just two notes! And the hairs on the back of my neck stood up! I had such goosebumps! I learned that night who BB King was!

NICELY done, Sir. I got to see the King two times. Time no. one, my brother's music store rented him a brand new silverface Super Reverb which he lit quite up with this and other songs at Tully Gym at Florida State. Was blown away by his jazz licks, right along with his blues. He was not lying about how much he played out ... hardest working man in show business, for many, many years ...

Nice! Mr. Pilgrim I had the pleasure of seeing BB King live in 1995. The line up was Little Feat and The Muddy Waters Tribute band. They opened the show and BB killed it! He has a great video Live at Nicks (every day I have the blues) love that version. I play in my fathers blues band out here in California. So I watch a lot of your videos because some of the songs we play , are lessons that you have here on youtube. After watching your Freddy King video on Funny Bone, it's now on our set list. So thank you for that! Peace to you Mr. Pilgrim, until the next video.

Well Done brother! Especially was grateful for your OUTSTANDING appreciation/exposition of BB King's Dynamic Genius and the effective "Big Deal" that is the rich musical wonderworld of DYNAMICS in general! Thank You! I personally grow weary of the excessive use of compression and highly limited dynamic choices which seem painfully endemic of popular music producers/marketers etc .... Mostly: Thank You! Well Done!

Thom, great playing by the way. In regards to your "four notes" - well you and i know that it is not really 4 but at least 8 when you take into account the notes played when you bend the strings; 1/2 bend or full bend. I think what you may be saying is 4 positions. Love your work, keep it up!
